"It is fine, Chase... you are a happy person." Alex smiled, relaxing slightly even if his grip on Oscuro hadn't lessened any. It was as if he was holding onto that cat for dear life. "I-I'm just... used to people laughing because they are mean." He looked down again at the black cat and began to fiddle with the bell on his collar, making it jingle merrily.
I guess you're my friend now too." Alex swallowed and looked up at Chase, searching his face for a hint of a lie. Did he honestly mean that? That would make... Chase his first friend here in Hogwarts. An actual friend. Not just a classmate or anything like that. Alex's mouth twisted into a small smile and he looked down at Oscuro once again, his fringe flopping over his face. "Y-Yeah... I could be that. You too. I want to see this Brent. He must be nice to be being your friend."
Alex couldn't wait to tell his mum that he had a friend. And the guy seemed nice, too. He laughed easily but didn't mean any harm by it. "I can't wait to see my little sister... and sleeping in my own bed. It is strange sharing with many boys." And awkward and distracting. "And Spanish food. I want that."

When Chase heard what Alex had said, he felt even worse. He didn't mean for his laughing to be mean. He just thought it was funny. Not because the poor kid didn't know English, or because his accent was funny. But because he would have laughed if that was anyone. "You don't have to worry about me being mean. It's kind of something in my head. I can't be mean to people." Chase laughed, while his mind was telling him, 'because your dad is always mean to you.'
Chase was glad Alex kind of... accepted his friendship? Was that how you put that. Okay so Chase was a bit awkward too. Chase was kind of feeling awkward because Alex had called him happy. He wasn't by any means, but that was his way of not letting anyone else know there was something wrong. "I.. uh. Don't have any siblings. It's only me and my parents. So it was nice sharing a dorm with people." Chase explained with a weak smile, wondering where the hell Brent had ran off to.

"That's nice. I don't know why people can be mean. Its not good." Alex began to loosen up a bit again, lessening his choking grip on Oscuro little by little, much to the cat's delight. He began to purr louder, rubbing his head against Alex's arm. He was so snuggable. Just like his daughter, Tootie, in about ten years from now.
"I have my parents and my sister. She is a baby. She cry and smell bad always." Alex giggled quietly. All she did was poop, drool and whine. But Alex wouldn't have her any other way. "My parents are Healers in the 'ospickal. But my papá works many more.... much more, yes? Much more." Okay, that didn't sound right. Alex looked at Chase with searching eyes, hopefully he understood. He shrugged at him and sighed, sinking into his seat. "I try."
Alex felt a little bit sad that Chase didn't have a brother or sister. It sounded lonely. Alex, despite distancing himself from every student in Hogwarts, thrived in good company. Maybe next year with better English under his belt he'd show his true colours. "But you have friends in London, yes? Or... is that why you want stay here summer? If you have no friend... you can come to mine home. I say... my home. Not mine. That is wrong."

Chase stopped himself from laughing, he promised he wouldn't. Then, he searched the back of his mind for anything he might have learned in his spanish class he was forced to take in muggle school. He took two years of it, but never really paid attention to any of it. "Tu papa trabajo mas que to mama?" Okay, so Chase was pretty sure he murdered that, but what did he care. Alex was murdering English... he could murder spanish.
Chase smiled widely at Alex. He was nice, and Chase decided he liked him. "Er. Gracias." Chase laughed at himself. "Okay, I'm done trying Spanish... it'd be cool to come hang with you over the summer. Get out of my house more and what not." Chase thought about the chance to get away from his dad even more and knew he couldn't pass that up.

Alex couldn't help but chuckle quietly when Chase attempted Spanish but as soon as he realized he was giggling, he clapped a hand over his mouth and looked at him with wide eyes. Wow, he was such a hypocrite. He hated people giggling at him when he tried to speak so why did he do it when Chase tried to talk Spanish? That wasn't nice. But... did he honestly sound that bad when he tried to speak English. Alex hoped not. Otherwise it was understandable why people poked fun.
"I'm sorry. But yes, I understand you. He work more than my mamá. He is the Head Healer, more work. And she look after my sister always." Alex nodded, his smile widening when he guessed that what Chase had just said meant that he would like to come to his house over summer. That boy had no idea how happy it made Alex. He almost squeaked. Alex blushed and looked down at his cat, stroking him again lovingly. Alex had a friend. And that friend wanted to come to his house in summer. His mum would be so glad.
Then another boy came in. He guessed that it was a friend of Chase's considering how he talked to him and sat beside him. Maybe this was the Brent Chase had mentioned? He shrank slightly under Brent's look, feeling a bit shy again. "I'm Alexander... or just Alex." He said with a small smile. "You are... Brent, yes?"

Chase laughed at himself when Alex laughed. He knew it was probably horrible. He wasn't even entirely sure what he said was grammatically correct, yet he was sure he pronounced nothing right. Alex had every right to laugh at him.
He was about to say something, when Brent came in the compartment. "No worries. Brent dude... you're going to love Alex!" Chase beamed at Brent with a look before getting up and sitting next to Alex. Chase was never one to like boundaries. He wrapped his arm around Alex's shoulder and used that hand to pinch his cheek. "He plays guitar!" Chase announced with a grin.
Brent and Chase were musically obsessed. They loved anything to do with music. This was going to be as awesome for Brent as it was for Chase. "And he totally said he'd come jam with us sometime!" Chase told him, leaving out the part where he didn't know what jam was.

Suddenly... people. Alex startled a bit when Chase was beside him and pinching his cheek. That was random. And very friendly. But he didn't shy away, even when Brent joined him on the other side. Alex was suddenly very conscious about how close these almost-strangers were to him. He'd spent most of his school year distanced and right now there was no distance. Literally.
"Piano? And sing? That sounds good." Alex smiled at the new boy, called Brent. Oscuro didn't seem to appreciate the sudden new company and hopped down from Alex's arms and sauntered over to the free row of seats opposite them. "And I-I'd like to... jam some day. It would be nice." He forced himself to relax some. These boys were okay. They weren't going to hurt him or anything... they were from the Lion house. Alex rubbed his cheek where Chase had pinched him with a growing smile.
"I think I remember you, Brent. You was a boy on the train to school in September, yes? And you was with Chase?" If he was, this was definitely a small train.

Chase laughed when Brent went on the other side of Alex. He was kind of adorable in his own special way. Chase was lucky to have made a friend like Brent already. Chase was pretty sure he would be one of his best friends throughout school. He wasn't going to think about the fact Brent wouldn't be there for his last year. Since he was a year older and all. But Alex would... maybe him and Chase would become good friends too.
"Yeah. He was on the train with me too on the way there." Chase told Alex with a smile, still keeping his arm around him. Chase wasn't a big one of personal boundaries. "Brent! This is the kid that couldn't speak English!" Chase explained with another huge smile, leaning forward and looking at Brent in front of Alex. "Brent's in the choir. His voice is awesome, Alex." Chase said, looking at Alex now and smiling.

Alex looked over at Brent with slight awe. He was in the choir? That... meant he had to be good. There'd been a few times when he'd lingered outside where they practiced just to hear them. They always sounded great... it was uplifting to listen to them, in a way. "I like to hear soon. It must be beautiful." Alex smiled, looking between Brent and Chase. They seemed real good friends - they must have bonded a whole deal over the course of one school year. Alex could only hope for something as special as that. They say the friends you made in school would probably be the ones that accompany you for the rest of your life...
"Gracias, Brent." Alex said with the lightest dusting of colour on his cheeks. "I have been trying hard. Your language is... difícil... diffi... 'difficolt'." Close enough. Alex shrugged it off. He was getting used to being mashed between two almost-strangers but, Merlin, it was still a bit weird. So long not being around anyone to suddenly being almost squished. It was nice though. In a way. "Brent... you living in London like Chase? Or... you live far from it?"
