missed him. He felt stupid for leaving him at home while he came to America but he'd made Maryn promise to check up on him everyday and make sure he didn't get dusty while Brent couldn't play him. He sat up a little. Food! He loved James. Brent froze for a second... No, he didn't love James: he disliked him and will temporarily love him as he his providing Brent with food. "Yes!" he exclaimed, he hadn't eaten in what felt like ages but was probably only a couple of hours. He picked up Belle who's ears twitched at the sound of her name and held her as she rested her chin on his shoulder. "Aww, you're so adorable." he cooed, tickling her chin and then slowly removing his glasses from her mouth. Luckily, they were still in one pieces so he put them back on.[/ul]

James laughed at Brent's excitement for food. Suddenly, as Belle tiredly rested her chin on Brent's shoulder, an idea struck him but decided to suggest it later to the younger man.
"Well, I'll just grab our dinner then prepare Sugar and Belle's. You can go on ahead to the studio. Can you please bring Sugar there too?" James asked "She is a bit feirce but don't judge or blame her. Sugar's been through a lot..."
James gazed sadly at the battle-scarred German Shepherd who perked her ears up and gave James a questioning look as she heard her name being called.
James left the living room to get the food, hoping that Brent would take good care of Sugar. He was fond of the Shepherd and would happily take her back to Hogwarts but not too many people would be entirely happy about Sugar. Not to mention James already had Captain Berry and Redwall.

cute to be true. He reached forward a gently scratched Sugar's head. At first she seemed quite defensive but then nuzzled into Brent's wrist. He couldn't help but grin. Brent wasn't entirely sure where the studio actually was but he was sure that it wouldn't be too hard to miss. He made sure Sugar stayed close to him and didn't wonder off. And he was right, it didn't take long for him to find the studio. It was filled with instruments. It was like... Brent Heaven. Grinning from ear to ear, he put Belle down and picked up a guitar, instantly he started strumming it and sighed. He'd really missed Charlie. This guiar wasn't the same but.. it would do. He played Mercenary, singing and experimenting as he went. He'd finished the links but he and Chase were still working on the actual music. So far, they'd only got a definite tempo and pitch but had been trying out some chords on the guitar. Brent thought this song was coming along rather nicely.[/ul]

James quickly prepared the food for Sugar and Belle then brought out his wand and flicked it at the two dog bowls, 2 glasses and eating utensils, making them float in the air. After picking up a pan of macaroni and cheese and 2 plates he made his way to the studio, and somehow managed to open the door with his foot.
What he saw inside slightly surprised him but he quickly recovered and put all the stuff on a table. James processed the tune Brent was playing on one of his best guitars, all sorts of ideas running through his head. It was one of James' habits from being a DJ and producer. Process music to make good mixes, remixes and songs. He still did it and would think up a lot of ideas for all sorts of songs and would enjoy it as he' do little side projects on ideas he especially liked.
"Brent, why don't we go eat in the recording studio?" James suggested, pointing to the studio filled with instruments "You can bring the guitar with you. I hope you like that guitar as it's one of my best. Personally, I prefer my bass guitars more. Especially Scrooge. A four stringed, Ibanez SR500 bass guitar."
James proudly held up the beautiful bass guitar. James had polished and cleaned it everyday so it only looked slightly used. He had left it when he left for Hogwarts however so it took him awhile to finally get it back into shape. This time he would be taking Scrooge back to Hogwarts so he could take good care of the guitar.

There it was again. The 'Inappropriate Voice' that seemed to have a lot to say about Chase lately.[/ul]

"You're probably thinking at how ridiculous my bass guitar is, right?" James asked Brent when he raised his brow at the name "My wife thought it was strange but I have my reasons. The first time I used this fellow was when I had to create a dubstep version of The Nutcracker for one of my client. He was making a parody of A Christmas Carol and asked me to help with the soundtrack. With Scrooge here I made one of the filthiest bass drops I ever made in my whole life. My client requested that I name the guitar Scrooge so I did. I agreed with the name as well. He became a frequent customer after that and he paid me well."
James stepped into the studio and brought the table right behind him with the help of his wand while holding Scrooge. As he piled some macaroni and cheese on his plate and was just about to eat, his father came in.
"What's up dad?" James questioned his father who had stolen his plate and was eating his mac n cheese "I left you some food in the kitchen. This is Brent by the way. And stop eating my food!"
"I know. I already ate it and I fed the dogs so I'm bored now." Henry replied with a grin "Hello Brent. The name's Henry. Oh? An acoustic guitar? Been awhile since I've seen acoustic guitars being held in my son's studio as all he likes is that electronic crap and made it into his life. Not that I'm complaining too much as he brought in big bucks and was pretty famous. Though I still wonder why he didn't get a bigger house. He could've afforded it back in his day. Not to mention he had friends in high places who would've helped him get a nice, big house easily."

Brent didn't care what he looked like because it was funny to him. After a few minutes, he regained his composure. If James was 'famous', it still wasn't surprising Brent had never heard of him. He'd been too busy worrying about the band to pay any attention to other music. "I guess you could say I had a moment of fame once." he smirked, "Didn't last all that long though..." There, he hadn't revealed anything.[/ul]

James couldn't help but feel very annoyed at his dad. He didn't like to be known for his fame with people in his new life. It was kind of awkward really as he was a very famous DJ who was advertised a lot so it was rare that people didn't know him by his DJ name, DJ RedBadger. So he decided to steal back his food and eat while his father talked. James knew from past experience that Henry would eventually get bored and take a walk as long as you just kept silent.
"Hahaha! It's fine!! James does it too." Henry laughed along "But yeah he was pretty famous. Along with my daughter-in-law, Tania. Boy, the two of them were happy. Kiddo, are you sure you haven't heard of them? Maybe you'd know 'em by their DJ names, DJ RedTiger and DJ RedBadger!"
Henry rambled on and on about James' career and past, much to his son's discomfort. James was angrily attacking his dinner as he tried not to lose his temper. It was rare for him to be so short tempered but today was a special occasion.

obsessed with a band; his own one. Brent looked over at James who looked pretty pissed if he was to be honest. "Uh, you okay, Redpaw?" he asked a little awkwardly. He honestly didn't care but seeing as he was trying to be polite, he thought it was be good to ask anyway. Think. Polite. he mentally told himself. It was hard for him though. Brent had never been a particularly polite person.[/ul]

"Understandable Brent!" Henry nodded "I know what it's like. Anyway, I wish I could keep on talking but I have a doctor's appointment! See ya kiddos later."
Henry, much to James' relief, finally left out the studio door. James was sure he was going to snap if his father dared stay longer and James did not want that.
"Yeah. I'm fine." James replied emotionlessly "Things just get very tense around this day."
James struggled to put his emotions back into place. He knew he was probably putting Brent into an uncomfortable position here so he decided to change the topic while he was in an unstable state of mind.
"Anyway, what song were you playing? I'm sure it's still in 'work in progress' mode by the sound of it." James said, slightly tense "Ah, I remember what it's like to be working on a song. It took a lot of creativity to work on the 'American McGee's Alice' soundtrack but it was worth it in the end. If you're ever stuck with the song you could ask me for an idea or two or several even. I always have a lot of ideas for all kinds of songs and dozens of ideas went through my head when I heard you playing yours."

"Well, if you need any help with it just ask." James smiled "Anyway, you look hesitant of something. Is there anything you want to ask? Go ahead!"
James felt himself getting slightly calmer which made him feel more at ease. He looked around the sound-proof room, remembering good memories that happened in it. James had rented out the studio for a bit of extra cash, more so when Tania got pregnant. It was a good small business as the fee was cheap and it gave James more chances for DJing jobs. Everything was better then for him.
"Hm... It's starting to get late." James commented, taking a look at his watch "Brent, do you have a place to stay for the night? If not, you're quite welcome to stay here as long as you help out a bit. Don't worry about space as this house has quite a few rooms. After all, I was planning to have a family..."

"You don't have to tell me things you don't want me to know." James smiled ever so slightly "But just tell me when you want my help!"
James had to think through his next reply for a few seconds. He didn't want to go into full detail nor make himself emotional. James hated it when he let his feelings overtake him.
"Well..." James began, talking very slowly "Today's the day my wife died. That's the main reason I came back to Baltimore, to visit her."
James took another forkfull of macaroni then started to strum Scrooge. The strumming gradually became a song. A lullaby to be exact. James made the lullaby for his twins but never got to play it for them when they were out in the world and it was all his fault.
"Okay then." James said, trying to smile but failing "I'll get the room ready a bit later. Oh, pardon me!"
James ran to get the phone. Happily enough the door was left open a bit so he could hear the phone ring.

much, he was just overjoyed that he wasn't going to ask any awkward questions like everyone else seemed to do. "I will do, just gotta check with other people that it's okay for you to help out." he beamed gratefully. "Oh, well, sorry to hear that and stuff..." he said, almost groaning at how uninterested his sounded. Yeah, that was kind of sad but it honestly meant nothing to him. He didn't care about some dude's wife being dead, it wasn't his problem. Brent knew he was being a little heartless, it made him feel a little ashamed of himself, so he decided not to think about it anymore. That was a sweet tune though... A lullaby, maybe?Brent put down the guitar after James had gone to answer the phone or whatever. His stomach let out a rather loud rumble, reminding him that there was food here for him and he was practically starving now. He picked up the macaroni cheese and it didn't take long at for him to finish it all. And his stomach still wasn't full. He peered around the door. "Hey, Redpaw, got anymore food?"[/ul]
