Chase was making his way out of the castle after a nice lunch. He decided he was going to go and get some creatures ready for the next Care of Magical Creatures lesson. He hadn't made a plan yet and his class started soon. Chase should probably start planning before the day of the lesson. But his mind was sort of preoccupied lately. With none other than Brent of course.
He entered the entrance hall, only stopping to wave to a couple students he walked by. When he opened the door to leave the castle, he froze. There, about to enter the castle was none other than Tyler. Chase hadn't seen him since their epic fail of a private lesson... in which Tyler had confessed to Chase that he liked him and had a crush on him. They hadn't talked since, and Chase was kind of afraid to.

Tyler was walking into the castle after some alone time by the lake. He wasn't in the best of moods, hadn't been since he opened his mouth during his private lesson. He realized afterwards that he shouldn't have said anything. He had waited so long already, what would have been a little longer. Tyler will never know now though. Instead he walked around with a broken heart.
As he neared the castle, he thought about whether he should skip lunch and go study or if he should try to make the end of lunch and eat something. He decided he wasn't hungry and that studying would be the best idea. All thought was lost though when he reached the door to find none other than the man who broke his heart, Professor Jackson. He wasn't sure what to say, so he stood there and said nothing.

Tyler didn't say anything, and Chase didn't really expect him too. Chase knew how much Tyler had been hurt. he could tell by how fast he ran the other way after Chase said it wouldn't be able to work with them being a student and a teacher. Chase also knew that he would have to talk to Tyler. He couldn't just let the poor kid be heartbroken.
"Hey, Tyler. How are you doing?" Chase smiled at him as to let him know that he really was sorry about what happened. I mean, sure, Tyler was kind of cute. And he was of age. Maybe Chase would have thought about it if his heart didn't already belong to Brent. Then again. It didn't technically. Brent hadn't fully chose who he was going to go with yet. It was still up in the air.

Tyler saw Chase smile at him and couldn't help but let a small smile appear on his face. Though he was still hurt by Chase's answer the other day, he loved it when the man smiled. "I'm...okay, sir. I haven't been sleeping well lately but at least my school work is getting done."
Ty wasn't trying to show how much he was hurting...well, okay so maybe he was. The man had shot him down without even thinking about it.
"How are you sir? How are things with you and...well you-know-who?"

Chase could tell that Tyler was hurting. He felt bad, he hated causing pain to anyone. But it wasn't like he could just say sure, let's try a relationship! It wasn't ethical! Chase was a professor, and Tyler was a student.
"I'm doing alright. And no, I don't know what you mean. Who?" Chase figured he was talking about Brent, but he had told Tyler that there was nothing going on between Brent and himself. Then again, it was a lie, so he could have seen through it.
"Look, Tyler. I think we need to talk about what happened at the private lesson the other day. You just kind of ran away, and didn't give me a chance to talk. You're one of my best students. I don't want you to think I'm some horrible guy. Like you probably are already."

"I think you do know who I mean, but I'll let it go. The two of you aren't subtle about your feelings for each other, whether you realize it or not."
Tyler sighed as he really didn't want to have this talk. He knew that they needed to talk about what happened, but he really was too hurt to talk about it now. He sighed again. "I guess I might as well get it over with."
"You're right, we should talk about it." He looked Chase in the eye and saw something he couldn't quite put his finger on it. He mumbled, "You're not horrible."

Chase was happy that Tyler had decided to leave it alone. He was surprised though, he expected Tyler to continue it. But he wasn't going to question it. He was especially surprised when Tyler said he wasn't horrible. Chase expected Tyler to think that. Think that he was one of the worst people on the planet.
"Well... thanks, Ty. But like I said. We really need to talk. I didn't mean to hurt you the other day. You took me by surprise when you told me that, and I didn't know what to say. I didn't expect it. I thought we were just friends, along with the professor and student relationship. We were closer than most students and professor's because we shared the connection of our love of animals. Not that there was something romantic between us."
Chase hoped that Tyler would understand. That he wouldn't be mad at Chase anymore. That he would get over his feelings for him.

Ty could see where Chase was trying to go with this. He thought that by saying that, that everything would be ok again. That's the problem, things can't be ok again.
"You may not have meant to hurt me but you did. I have felt this way for so long. And for you to just...throw it away so easily...how can I not be hurt? Yes, we had a good friendship, one I valued as no one else understands me the way you do. But why can't you give this a chance? Is it only because I'm your student? Am I too young? Am I...am I not handsome enough for you?"
Ty could feel tears in his eyes, but couldn't let Chase see them. He couldn't let this man know just how much he was hurt. Ty's head fell, hiding his tears from the man in front of him.

Chase couldn't let Tyler think that... it wasn't okay to let anyone think like that. Wasn't fair to Tyler.
"Ty, don't ever think like that. It wasn't that you weren't handsome enough for me. One, I don't care about looks. Two, you are plenty handsome enough." Chase couldn't believe he said that after he did. He had to be breaking a school rule.
"I could get in trouble if I even thought of a student in a romantic way. It isn't right. You're not too young, but you're still a student. And do you really want to be with an old fart like me? Find someone younger. Someone closer to your age."
Tyler's head fell, and Chase brought his head up with his hand. He could see the tears. He just didn't know how to stop them. He was bad at these kinds of things.

"He thinks I'm handsome. That's something at least." That was all though. Chase was making excuses for not wanting to be with him. Tyler knew he should take the hint, but he just couldn't.
"There's no rule against a student/teacher relationship. I looked. The only thing that is there is that the student must be of age, which I am. Is that all that's stopping you?" Tyler hoped that was the case.
"What younger guys? How many guys my age to you know that are not only gay but would be with someone who is obsessed with magical creatures?"

He looked to see if there was a rule? Damn... This kid must really like Chase. Chase didn't know what to say. He couldn't use it as an excuse if there was actually no rule about it. Chase didn't know what to do next, so he said what he could only think of.
"How about this, I'll think about it, okay? I mean, you are really nice, and cute, and we have the same interests." Chase was being nice, he knew he was, as he gave Tyler a kind smile. But he couldn't help it. He hated when people were sad. He always tried fixing it. The least he could do was think about it. Give the kid a shot in his mind. If he thought about it more, and still felt the same way, then Chase would tell him there was no chance.
"Don't be too disappointed though if my answer is the same. I said I'll think about it. That's all I can promise right now."

Tyler smiled, a genuine smile. Chase promised to think about it, that was a start. Tyler was sure once he thought about it more Chase would see that there was nothing wrong with giving it a shot. Plus, if what Tyler had heard from his source was correct, Chase needed someone more than he was letting on.
"Alright, as long as you think about it, and really think about it." He wiped away the tears on his cheeks. "Please, look past my age and look at me."

Chase did what Tyler said. He looked past his age and looked at him. He saw a hurt guy that needed someone to help him. Needed someone to be there for him, and he wanted that guy to be Chase. Apparently he had always wanted it to be Chase.
He saw a guy that loved animals just like did. Was obsessed with them. Wanted to do something in his life with animals involved just like Chase ended up doing.
Tyler was cute, and kind of adorable in his own way. Chase could almost see him with Tyler... that was if he could fully get by the fact that he was a student!
"I promise I'll try, Tyler. I made no promises after that. I'll try to get my head past the fact that you're a student and I'm a teacher."
And the fact I'm in love with someone else.
Chase wasn't going to mention that though. He put his hand on Tyler's arm in a comforting way, to show that Chase was telling the truth. Even though in a part of his mind, he knew it probably wasn't.

Ty smiled at Chase, something he realized that he's done a lot during this talk. He loved that Chase was making him smile, he loved it a lot.
"You promised to try, that's all I can ask." He knew that Chase was having a problem with the fact that he was a student but he really hoped that it could/would be overlooked.
Ty's smile got bigger when Chase placed his hand on his arm. Tyler placed his hand on top of Chase's. "Thank you. I know that this is hard for you to do."

' she says, ' prove you'd be able to not kill my toad before I let you own him, Brent'." Brent muttered sourly, glaring at Ribbity II as he came inside. He'd been out there for hours looking for the demon after it had escaped. It wasn't Brent's fault he found marking so bored that he fell asleep. Everyone did it. And why did Maryn need to know if he was capable of looking after a toad? Was he really that unreliable? Brent decided not to think about that one. "This is all your fault, demon. They think you're innocent when you just sit there ribbiting but I know you're not. I know you should fucking drop dead and die." Brent hissed to the toad on his shoulder then realised he was talking to a toad. When Brent stopped glaring at Ribbity II he instantly saw Chase but still he didn't feel any better. Because of Maryn making him go after that... that thing. Brent's eyes narrowed, taking in the scene in front of him. He didn't like it; he didn't like it one bit. "Don't mind us, we were just passing through." he huffed, glaring pointedly at Chase before starting to walk away, not wanting to think about what he'd just seen. What if it was nothing? But, then again, what if it wasn't...[/ul]
