Tour of the Castle [Harry, James]

[Lily Potter]

In retrospect, Lily thought that she should have realized that her dad was seeing Draco Malfoy. After all, he did ask her what she thought of him, and it wasn't normal for him simply to ask approval for friends. It just hadn't clicked with her before now.

"If you like him, Daddy. Then I'll like him I'm sure." Lily smiled up at her dad. She meant that. Whoever her dad picked, she would try to like. Because all that mattered to her was her dad's happiness.

Lily was surprised that James had said he'd be there to help her. Did he honestly mean it. Surely this was some other kid dressed up like James that came here to trick them. Right? This couldn't be their James. "You really mean that, Jamie? Will you help me? I don't like being so shy. But I... I can't help it." Lily felt on the verge of tears, and she hated herself for that since it was such a touching family moment. But she couldn't help it. She had hated herself for a while because of how shy she was. How she could never make friends and never talk or anything.

"I think one big family dinner sounds amazing." Lily tried to hide the fact that she was still hurting over what her and James were talking about. She was happy for her dad. She really was.

James laughed a little at what his dad said. Surely he didn't really expect him not to have a little talk with Mr. Malfoy? "Dad, you realize that it's my job as your oldest son to make him see the consequences of hurting you. I may only be seventeen, but I'm old enough to hurt him if he hurts you. I plan on having the same conversation if or when mom starts dating too, though I'm sure my uncles will do the same." He giggled. He knew for a fact that Uncle Ron would do it for sure.

He knew Lily was trying to hide her tears, but she didnt' do as well as she thought. He knew it was probably because of how shy she was. She had always been and he's not really surprised that she still is. "Don't worry Lils. Things will be ok. By the time I leave school, you will be more outgoing, I promise you."

Harry laughed. He hugged his daughter tightly. "Thank you, Princess. That means a lot to daddy." Harry turned to James. "Yes, I bet Ron will be doing the 'Hurt Ginny, I'll hurt you' talk to whoever Ginny plans to date. When she plans to date, that is." Harry said with a smile.

He was just amazed how well his eldest and daughter were talking the news. "This means Albus is the last to now. Speaking of which, where is that brother of yours? To think that James was able to find us, Lils. And If James doesn't have the map, Albus must have it with him." Harry said.

Harry wondered where the Maurauder's Map went. He knew Lily would never take it. So it leaves James and Albus at the suspects. But he simply smirked. They did inherit his adventurous and naughty side. Not to mention Harry's own father, James Potter was just as naughty as he was.

"So where should we go next?" Harry asked his children.

Lily giggled at her brother's comment. He was honestly trying. Or at least so it seemed. He was teasing their dad, and joking. Lily smiled at him. She could get used to this James. It was the James that Lily loved, that Lily missed, that Lily wanted.

"Do you really mean that Jamie? You won't get tired of trying to make me not shy? You'll stick with it?" Lily would love nothing more than that.

Lily hugged her dad back, making sure to squeeze tight to show him she really meant what she said. She wanted him to be happy. She didn't care that maybe later down the line she would have two daddies instead of just one. Or maybe 3 if her mother ever remarried. She actually thought it sounded kind of cool.

"Well, it is almost time for dinner. Why don't all of us head down there to eat. We can have a little family dinner here at Hogwarts, and who knows, Albus might pop up somewhere." Lily smiled as she realized she was rather hungry. Even though she ate not that long ago.
