Alex had a great time during practice. Mack had survive and she was glad that he did. It was too late into the term to find a new captain for the team. And she didn't want to have to take the role. She was going to take it easy this year, it was her last.
She walked out of the changing rooms last. She had to gather her old things to take back to her room. Her broom was ready and she was about to zoom off to fly back to the castle instead of walking. However, she saw that someone else was still there.
She flew up and saw that the person was Phoenix Night, a guy from a year below her. She was sure of that. She flew closer and saw that he looked rather depressed rather than the smiling mood she keeps seeing him have.
"Hey... Your Phoenix right?" she called out to him. she didn't want to leave him there alone. It wasn't right. She flew down and got off her broom and sat a few feet away from him. "Mack left earlier if you were waiting for him." she added. then she studied his face, "Are you alright?"

Phoenix had dragged his sorry behind down to the pitch to watch Mack practice with the other Ravenclaws. It cheered him up. Well... it usually did. He sat there throughout the whole thing staring into space, fantasizing about what things with Rayne would of turned out like shouldn't she of rejected him like she had.
In his trance, he hadn't realized that the practice was over. And he didn't snap out of it until he heard a girl's voice. He jumped slightly, not expecting anyone to talk to him. He ran a hand through his mousy brown locks to compose himself and looked up. It was that Knightly girl, the one that played on the team. She'd always seemed nice and Phoenix tended to bump into her quite alot, being that they were in the same House and he frequented Ravenclaw's Quidditch practices greatly.
"Mack's gone?" Phoenix repeated, glancing down at the empty field. He just sighed and leaned back into the bench behind him. "I'm alright... I'm just a bit..." Phoenix shrugged his shoulders, not knowing how to end his sentence. He wasn't about to tell the Beater for his team that he felt like shit. And a complete loser, too.
"Good practice today." Phoenix said, managing a smile although his heart wasn't in to it. He hadn't really watched but... he just assumed his team had done a good job today. Hopefully nothing bad had happened to rat him out. "But... y'know... I'm just having one of those days, that's all, really. And what about you?"

Alex smiled and was a bit glad. She knew that he wasn't alright but didn't push it. "Yeah, he was the first one to leave and get away from me and Laurinda as fast as he could." she giggled. "Lets just say, Stone had one hell of a practice." she added as she shifted to face him with her whole body.
"Thanks... Though you couldn't really call it practice with two beaters and the captain but it was alright." she told him cheerfully. She knew him because she saw him every time at the common room. Either she bumps into him when she enters the living room or when she exits it. But it was fine. He was a nice guy.
"I know what you mean... It's like you want to disappear for a few hours to just clear your head..." Then it struck her, did he want to be left alone? "Uhm... Did you want to be alone? Am I bothering you?" she asked him. She was a bit worried now.

"Yeah. One hell of a practice." Phoenix repeated with a weak laugh. He had no idea what she was going on about. He hadn't watched any of it. But he was going to play along.
Maybe one of these days he'd apply for Chaser. Maybe. Not now obviously with everything that was flying around in just his own mind. But then again, it would probably be nice to have something to distract himself with. Having helped Mack practice in their free time, Phee wasn't too bad at it. But it was those early morning practices that put him off...
"No, no, no... you're not bothering me at all!" Phoenix raised his hands and flailed them gently, he didn't want Gabriella to believe that he didn't appreciate her coming up to check up on him. It was rather sweet to be honest. "Some company is actually nice. I'm not one that can sit moping around all lonely for long." The teen smiled, this time more genuinely. He pushed his body away from the bench behind him and sat up properly. "I kinda like talking to people... especially since Mack isn't too talkative over some things."

She was glad that she wasn't a bother to him. She liked talking to people, especially the ones in her house. "Well, It always thought that Stone was talkative... But then again, I don't know him well enough to make a proper comment on him." she began then smiled warmly at Phoenix, "But he is a good captain." she said with a soft voice.
"I'm glad to keep you company if you like. I don't have anything else to do as of the moment... That is, if you like." she told him. Alex was trying to be careful around sensitive people. Then she remembered, she hadn't introduced herself properly.
"Oh my, how rude of me. I haven't actually introduced myself to you. Even if we are from the same house, we don't know each other." she told him with a genuine smile. She stretched out her hand towards him, "Gabirella Alexis Knightly, Seventh Year. Pleasure to meet you." she spoke with a gentle voice.

Phoenix returned her sunny smile with his own and shook her hand. He already knew her name. He knew the names to all of the players on their team through Mack. "You already know I'm Phoenix Night so... heh." He brought his shoulders up to his ears for a moment and scooted along the bench, allowing the girl room should she care to sit.
"But yeah, Mack is pretty talkative when he wants to be." Phoenix and Mack had a knack for finding conversations in class oddly interesting. They had managed to get themselves into trouble a couple of times because they just wouldn't shut up. "But... ask him for advice and... its kinda like talking to a mute."
Okay, maybe Phoenix was exaggerating a tad. But Mack's advice was rarely useful. Sometimes it was, other times not so much. "There's this girl, see.... and I really don't know what to think."

Alex smiled as she moved closer to the space that Phoenix had opened for her. "Girl trouble? Well, I'm all ears.... I might be of some help... Since I'm a girl and all..." she joked a little but meant well. She wanted him to be comfortable with her.
"Relax... Being a mute might mean that he just doesn't have anything good to say. I think its better to remain silent than say something and regret afterwards." she told him with a thoughtful smile. "So, you were saying... There is this girl... And?" she went back to the topic which seemed to her was bothering him.
She wanted to be a good senior and help the ones below her. Even if she had only that year to do so. It was better than nothing. And Phoenix seemed like he really needed a good ear and advice.

Since I'm a girl and all. That managed to bring a smile out in the teen. He played around with the hem of his robe while Gabriella spoke - he guessed she was right about the whole "mute" thing and agreed with a bob of his head.
"Well... there's this girl... and I kinda, uh, like her. Alot." Phoenix could feel his cheeks visibly pinken talking about Rayne to Alex. He didn't feel too awkward about it, so he ploughed on. "We were at the lake and she went under real bad... I-I got her out and I just, kinda, went for it. I kissed her." Telling Gabriella what he had done made his actions seem all the more stupid. Kissing a girl that had almost just drowned. It was something along the lines of: Give the girl chance to breath, darn it.
"And then... she ran away." Phoenix sighed and stopped toying with the hem to his school cloak. He fell back against the benches behind him again, slumping miserably. "I thought she liked me... it sounds pretty pathetic... I'm not good with these things. She's the first girl I've kinda ever liked." He'd keep it to himself that the person he had liked before was none other than his best friend. That was unnecessary information.

To say that Alex was in shock was a huge understatement. Right then and there, she recalled her own experience by the lake. "You know, that happened to me not too long ago... You see, I brought a guy to the lake so that he could relax a bit. He was new and had crossed paths with a pissed snake that time..." she began to tell him her tale.
"I came just in time to see him freeze as the snake walked away. He didn't deserve what the snake did to him but maybe he got the snake mad. I don't really know what happen. But I remember I came up to him to make him feel a little better." she took sighed.
"I took him to the lake then after a while we got talking. He seemed alright and he was fun to talk to. However, after a few more minutes, he kissed me. It froze my mind and I couldn't think straight." she turned to Phoenix with a small smile.
"You got off alright but he didn't. I reacted so badly that I slapped him hard and ran away. Cursing under my breath that the guy was going to be in for a horrible year here." she chuckled as she recalled the events in her mind.
"You see, unless a girl gives you a hint that she wants a kiss or hug from you, you shouldn't do anything that you'll regret. Like now." she told him in a soft tone and she held his hands. "To girls, a kiss is really something special. And we only give it to people who we really care for." she added as she smiled at Phoenix, hoping he understood what she was trying to say.

Phoenix listened to Gabriella's story with interest. He held back a small snicker and felt a bit sorry for the guy. It looked like Phee may have gotten off lightly, he wouldn't put it past Rayne to raise her hand at something she didn't approve of.
His moment of mirth was short lived. Phoenix looked down at his hands when Alex took them up in her own slender ones with a small frown. That was just the thing though - they had hugged, she had given him a peck on the cheek before, too. Phoenix guessed that maybe he had automatically been slotted into the friendzone. Maybe he hadn't had a chance with Rayne since the very start...
"I guess... you're right." Phoenix mumbled. "But I really cared for her... and I still do. After seeing her go under like that in the lake I realized that all I wanted was to be by her... and protect her from all the bad." The young Claw jerked his head to the side to flip his hair from his eyes, and he looked up at Gabriella. "But I went too fast, didn't I?"

Alex gave him a comforting smile, "A little bit, yes... But at least you didn't get slapped. You got out lighter than Chris did..." she told him. She looked up at the setting sky. It felt nice to help someone else who had went through the same thing she did. However, not on the same side of the same experience.
"If you truly like her like you say you do, try and find a way to talk to her and apologize for being too fast and promise her that it won't happen again..." she told him with a smile.
"I know that we girls can be a bit confusing at times and a bit too weird but its who were are. And I hope that this girl you talk of, i pray that she'll realize that your a sweet guy and that you didn't mean any wrong intention when you kissed her." she added.
Then she turned back at him, "But you know, since it was me who acted a bit harsh, since I slapped him and all, I was the one who made a way for us to talk... And right now, Christopher Sutton of Gryffindor is likely the best gift life has ever given aside from my family and cousin." she told him with a smile.

Phoenix sighed heavily and let his shoulders fall slack, making it seem like he was deflating like some beach ball. So it looked like maybe he had gone too fast according to Alexis. Great. Just great. But maybe all wasn't lost - this was a forgiveable thing, right? Phoenix decided that it wouldn't hurt to find Rayne and apologize for letting impulse be his guide for once. "Well, at least in the end things turned out okay for you and Sutton." The claw tried to smile. In a way it was sort of motivating. If Alexis and Chris ended up together even after the lion getting a slap, then maybe there was hope for Rayne and him.
"You speak of Sutton really fondly... you must like him alot, right? Even if you slapped him?" Phoenix looked back up at the older girl, the smile a little more genuine now. Prod fun at him and call him a sap but, to tell the truth, Phoenix wanted nothing more than Rayne to be like that about him. It'd be nice. "He must be a nice guy. And a lucky one, too."

Alexis smiled at Phoenix. "Yes, I am rather fond of him now. After making things right with Chris, we were given a chance to make up for the bad first time and try again. This time, we were carefully not to step on each other's foot." she joke lightly.
"You know, you control what happens in your life. If your just going to mope around and let her think that you were an arse back then, she might just do so. But if you want to make things right with her, then go and do just that. Don't wait for the moment that it's going to be too late for you. You'll surely regret it." she told him sincerely.
"I'm telling you this as someone who knows what it was like to have almost lost the reason for smiling everyday before a stupid mistake. Though it was Chris' mistake, the fact that I slapped him makes me just as guilty as he was. So, to make everything better, one of you will have to make the move. And since she didn't slap you, you have to make that move." she told him with s smile.
