James quickly checked his pocket watch, noticing that he should probably dismiss the class now. He always hated dismissing his classes late but it did happen from time to time. This group of 7th years had decided to test their professor's patience by simply fooling around but this man's patience was god-like. Even though they were being extremely rude he never lost his temper and continued to smile.
"Okay class, dismissed! There'll be no homework tonight so you kiddos can just relax." Professor Redpaw gave a smile smile as he saw one of his students breathe a sigh of relief. "However, I want to see my lil' group of horses after school. I'm sure that there's some work for you to do that'll make up for the time you wasted during class."
James's tone was light, cheerful and friendly though the topic at hand was rather serious. He even gave a grin to the little group of trouble makers who grinned back sheepishly. If this was any other professor they'd probably have 100 house points deducted and some horrible task for detention with a side of extra homework. Almost everyone knew how light the History Professor was with his punishments compared with other teachers but he had a pretty good knack at making his 'kids' feel guilty.

he thought to himself, turning his hair a brownish red colour with ease as he walked across an empty corridor. As Teddy walked a bit further, a large crowd of students rushed past him, he stepped to one side to let them past before looking to see what class they'd come from. Clearly on the door it read History of Magic, Professor J. C. Redpaw. Redpaw... history of magic professor? Wasn't that the man he'd met in London. Teddy decided he'd go and see. He knocked firmly on the door before peeping his head round the door and smiling. "Hi, it's Teddy, don't know if you remember me from the other week... but, I just thought I'd drop by while I'm here..."[/ul]

James was just starting to clean up his room and feed his Redwall and Captain when a firm knock was knocked upon his classroom door and Teddy Lupin walked in. Almost at once, Redwall quickly lumbered over to the newcomer, sniffing him, while Captain simply followed suit excpetm instead of simply sniffing his legs, climbed upon Teddy and gave his face a curious stare.
"Of course I do! I thank you for the visit and I'm sure Redwall and Captain do as well." James grinned and glanced at his overly affectionate badger and his old weasel friend. "Sorry about them. They're just enthusiastic about meeting strangers. I also apologize for the messy state my classroom is in. Today's 7th years were a bit off task during today's class. Anyway, come on in and sit anywhere you wish. There are beanbags in the library corner if you wish to try those out."
The older man called for his pets who bounded over to him, letting Teddy escape from their affections and allow him to take a seat. Redwall had grown considerably and was just about the full, adult size of a female badger.

"That's what I was hoping for." James replied happily in a sing song voice, proud that his work was successful. "It's always been my dream to make History more interesting since I was late into my 1st year so thanks! I truly do hope more kids are starting to like History of Magic better though there still are those kiddos who love to fool around in class. I'm not blaming them though. After all, I was one of those kids back in my time."
James cracked a smile as he remembered his old, teenager self before he and Tania fell head over heels in love for each other. Oh god... he was such a fool. He had toyed with so many hearts, both boys and girls. But, then again, the young Redpaw had kinda been love deprived thanks to his mother.

"Good thing I didn't meet you as a kid then or we would be meeting on totally different terms. Probably with me being extremely embarrassed and you kind of upset at me." James chuckled and gave Teddy a somewhat sheepish glance. Though his tone was light and happy he was actually quite ashamed to admit of his former 'playboy' self. If he heard correctly there was even talk of him even after he left thanks tot he many hearts he had played with. "Of course there is!! Sometimes I think there's a bit too much. In fact, my classes don't teach much compared to all there is to know. Especially since the Ministry tends to hide a few things like anytime someone tried to inform the Muggles of the Magical world in hopes of the two peoples living together, knowingly, in peace. Quite tragic really... Anyway, do you want something to drink or eat? I'm sure I can spare a few of my snacks."
The professor, who had just curled up comfortably in one of his soft beanbags, pulled out his wand at flicked it, causing a few sugar quills and 2 bottles of apple cider to come flying towards them. Sweets were especially abundant in the man's snack drawer as it usually was his alternative to smoking. Better to get addicted to sweets than to cigars as long as you don't get diabetes.

to last any longer than that not in the aurors' office where he belonged, just as his mother had done. Teddy's almost permanent smile widened as he was offered food and drink. "Yeah, thanks." he nodded his head politely at the other wizard, taking a bottle of apple cider and a sugar quill gratefully.[/ul]

"Well..." James begun to answer Teddy, taking a sip of his cider and sucking on the quill for a bit, wondering how to put his thoughts into words. "Before I got close to my late wife I was the playboy of the school. One of the popular kids that played with people's hearts. I broke quite a few in that time, hearts of both boys and girls. I was quite an idiot back then. If you were one of the shy, nerdy kids you'd make a pretty easy target. Thus, I'm glad that we didn't meet at Hogwarts. The Jaminson Redpaw then is much different from the Jaminson Redpaw now."
As he spoke Captain Berry draped himself around his owner's shoulders while Redwall lumbered onto James's lap, curling up comfortably. James gave both their heads a scratch and looked around his classroom whilst sucking on his second sugar quill. The room was nice and cozy with Scrooge, his guitar, in its corner, his Berry and Redwall's beds in another and his desk cluttered with papers, a box of cigars and sugar quills and a few pictures of his wife.

"Yeah... I am too I suppose." James murmured, his eyes temporarily clouding with grief. Even if it had been a long time since she had died he still wasn't over Tania's death. "But... She died giving birth to our kids so I guess I should be thankful I have them. I don't know what I'd do if they hadn't survived..."
James trailed off, the thought of his twins suddenly coming to mind. Now that Tania wasn't there he knew that it was just about time that he move on and dedicate his time to his children, his job and finding someone... new. He hadn't thought about getting a new lover for a long, long time now but it looked like it was just about time. However, it was this thought that hurt James and made him especially confused.
"Anyway..." the older man broke out of his trance like state and turned to face Teddy though it was obvious there was something else on his mind besides his guest. "Have you anyone special to you?"

"Well... When their mum died I gave 'em up for adoption. Not the wisest thing I did in my life. I'm sure they grew up with a good foster family. Probably better than I could've done at the time." James commented sadly. He had always regretted not being able to raise his own children but he knew it was for the best. He wasn't very emotionally stable after Tania's death.
"We all make mistakes in our love lives." James chuckled, smiling as he remembered his little stupid mistakes. The older man had already went through quite a few consequences because he mistook love. "In all honesty, all the mistakes we make in love happen for a reason. I made quite a few mistakes myself when I was about your age. I had just finished school and I kinda thought that I wouldn't see Tania again. I had found a girl, real pretty and nice, and thought she was the one but I always found myself thinking less of my girlfriend which really puzzled me so I broke it off. Good thing too because it was only 2 years later when I started dating Tania then 6 years until we got married."

"Oh, I do. I do..." James gave a light laugh then smiled slightly as Teddy's voice turned rather venomous. Oh, he knew the feeling alright but he decided not to say anything. It was probably the best thing to do. "Well, you have to expect stuff like that to happen though. I can't really say anything else though as I have done the same... Heh."
James smiled apologetically, flicking his wand, causing a simple acoustic guitar to come over. After strumming a few random chords his fingers began playing a light, simple tune. The song was called "Use Somebody" and its tune was a tune the professor was rather fond of. However, it had been awhile since had heard or even played the song.
"You know that I could use somebody..," James mumbled parts of the lyrics quietly, a genuinely true smile spreading across his face. It was always nice to hear a song you haven't heard in a long time.
