Rayne pouted even though she knew Phoenix couldn't see her. She really didn't want to go back to sorting music. She wanted to stay in his arms for as long as she possibly could. Which could be a while. She supposed she would have time for that later. It was just... she had never had someone she liked as much as Phoenix. She never wanted to let him go.
When Phoenix mentioned another song, Rayne's eyes brightened and she smiled even more than she was before, if that was even possible. Then he pulled out of their embrace. Very slowly. It was comforting to know that he didn't want to let her go either. That he really did want to stay with his arms wrapped around her, but knew he couldn't. Rayne could deal with that she supposed.
"Deal."
[/b] Rayne said before leaning forward to kiss his cheek then getting up quickly and walking over to the music. Well... more like skipping over. When she got over to the cabinet's of music she turned back toward Phoenix. "Comin', slow poke?"[/b] She giggled at him. She wanted to be alone with him already... she hoped the detention didn't drag on too long. That would be just her luck. [/blockquote]

"Yeah, yeah, I'm coming." Phoenix tried to slur in a bored tone. His facial expression contradicted him though since it was the picture of glee, the smile that stretched from ear to ear showed no signs of fading and there was an unmistakable sheen to his eyes. To say Phoenix was happy would be an understatement at best.
The teen grabbed the guitar by his neck, calloused fingertips brushing the coarseness of the coiled nickle on the lowest strings, still a bright metal colour from the little use it received. Not many wizards indulged themselves in the ways of muggle instruments which was, at the same time, a shame and a relief. It meant that there was never really anyone else wanting to play the acoustics.
"I heard this song, its like the muggle stuff... it was pretty awesome." Phoenix grinned, plopping himself down on the floor near Rayne, gazing at her while he spoke, entranced by the effortless beauty she seemed to radiate, probably unaware that she was doing so. "I heard it and I kinda got obsessed with it. Wouldn't leave it alone until I heard it." Snapping back to reality, he wrenched his eyes down to the guitar - the other love of his life - and sat it in his lap, fingering the fretboard experimentally while he found the chords.
"If all our life is but a dream, fantastic posing greed, then we should feed our jewellery to the sea. For diamonds do appear to be... just like broken glass to me." Phoenix had to look away from Rayne for a moment, not that she was distracting him, just that the smile that threaten to split his lips down the middle wouldn't let him sing properly. "And then she said she can't believe that genius only comes along in storms of fabled foreign tongues. Tripping eyes and flooded lungs. Northern downpour sends its love..."
Phoenix continued to strum the chords to the song and shrugged. "I've probably got the chords wrong, don't judge, I've only really heard it on some indie radio. I didn't even catch the name of the band... apparently its local or something... heard it?"
clicky for beckett covering northern downpour !! <3

Rayne just laughed at Phoenix when he said he was coming, then walked over with the guitar and sat down next to her. She didn't care that he should be helping her. She was too happy to care, honestly. And then he began to play the guitar again... and Rayne kind of forgot where she was again. His voice was so amazing. Memorizing in a way. She listened to see if she knew the song that he had said made him obsessed. It sounded familiar.
"I do know them, and that song."
[/b] Rayne said as she remember the song fully and what band it was by. "It's... Odd Virtues You Can't Sweat Out. That's the band. The song is Northern Downpour. I believe. I love Indie music. You know that."[/b] She smiled down at him before turning back to the music they were supposed to be sorting before she joined him on the ground and started kissing him. It was likely. "I love your voice, Nyxie. So much."[/b] She said without really meaning to. It was true. It was so amazing. She was jealous. [/blockquote]

Had Chase mentioned that he hated giving out detentions? He had been pacing outside the choir room now for a while. He hadn't listened to what they were saying or anything. That would be creepy. If they were even talking at all, that is. Chase was about to go in and tell them that they had about a half hour left before they could leave.
That was before he had heard music coming from inside. It was a guitar, and singing. A male voice. Not a bad one either. Chase smiled as he leaned his head against the door and listened to the music. It wasn't long before he realized he knew the song. That he played the song. That it was his song.
When the song stopped, he heard the girl say that she knew it. Two students at Hogwarts knew their song, Northern Downpour. That was fucking awesome! Without thinking, Chase opened the door. Smiling brightly at the both of them. One standing by the music, clearly sorting, and the other on the ground with a guitar in his hands.
"Uh. You guys are free to go if you want." Chase said, he was in a good mood now, couldn't wait to tell Brent what he heard. "Nice music, by the way." Chase said, smiling even more, if that were possible, at the sixth year Ravenclaw.

Odd Virtues You Can't Sweat Out. It rang a bell. Maybe later on tonight or maybe tomorrow he'd check them out, see if they had any more songs and all that. Phoenix caught Rayne's kisses with a smile on his lips. Even if this was detention, it was perfect just how it was. He couldn't wait to tell Mack about Rayne - he'd most definitely give his nod of approval.
TWANG Went the guitar string when Phoenix startled. Professor Jackson had came in and pretty much caught him slacking. Merlin. Phoenix was going to get another detention for sure. He'd probably make him de-weed the herbology gardens or polish all the statues of armour or ... he'd just stand there smiling? And say that they were free to go?
Well, isn't that just awesome? Colour went back to Phoenix's face and he took Rayne by the hand to help her up to a stand. "Th-thanks, Professor." Phoenix blushed, taking his comment about his music as a compliment. "I've been playing since I was young. And I'm... uh... sorry about the string. I'll fix it tomorrow." He looked up at him and quickly looked away, back to Rayne. A smile toyed with his lips.
"So... we going to go? We could go grab some sandwiches and head down the lake?" Phoenix was pretty hungry. He could do with some food in him right now. And he didn't want to leave Rayne's side tonight for the rest of the evening. So, sandwiches.

Rayne didn't think she could ever be more embarrassed than she was right now. Her cheeks were probably a really dark red right now. No doubt. She accepted Phoenix's hand and didn't let go of it even after she was standing. Instead she intertwined their fingers.
As soon as Phoenix said something about sandwiches and the lake, she didn't wait for Chase to say anything else. Her head of house catching her like that when she was supposed to be in detention was a good thing. At all.
"Bye professor!" Rayne shouted as she pulled Phoenix out of the choir room by his hand. She had no plan on letting him go all night. That was for sure.
Once she was outside the choir room, she turned around so she was looking at Phoenix. "There goes our hope of getting paired together during detention again..." she said with a pout before smirking at him. "Good thing I'm never letting you leave my site again." She winked before kissing his softly again. "And you better get used to me kissing you a lot too." She said before turning away from him and leading him away again.
"Kitchens it is! Then the lake!"
