Rayne couldn't sleep for some reason. Even since she had the detention with Nyxie her mind had been racing. She couldn't stop thinking about his cute smile, and the way he winked when he made a joke. She had been laying in her bed trying to go to sleep when she had finally given up and decided to go for a walk. She didn't care that it was after curfew. Worst that would happen is she'd get another detention. No big deal.
It wasn't until she passed the Ravenclaw portrait that she realized what her unconscious thoughts were doing... they were taking her to the place where the person that was on her mind. She didn't understand why she couldn't get him out of there.
Then the portrait opened, obviously to let someone come out. Rayne's heart raced. She hoped to God it wasn't Nyxie...

Chris walked out of the Ravenclaw Common Room hoping not to get caught by someone. He knew he shouldn't have been in their common room so late but he really wanted to spend some time with Alex. They don't get to spend a lot of alone time together so he was taking advantage of what he could get.
He didn't realize he wasn't the only one in the corridor until he almost ran into someone, a Gryffindor to be exact. "Um, hi. What is a young lion like yourself doing down here at this time of night?"

Rayne was glad to see that it was a Gryffindor she ran into instead of Phoenix. She would take anyone besides Phoenix right now, even a teacher. But this Gryffindor was fine. She recognized him, and knew he was a seventh year. That still didn't give him the right to call him a young lion. "Who're you calling young? I'm a year younger than you, smartass."

"Woah, take a chill pill there...sorry what's your name?" Chris realized how snappy his comment was. Alex really was rubbing off on him. "Sorry, that was a little rude. I'm usually not so snappy...well unless you are a certain Care of Magical Creatures professor. I like to mess with him." Chris smirked.
"So anyways, let's start over. I was just on my way back to the tower after spending some time with my girlfriend. Now your turn. Why are you down here?"

Rayne took a deep sigh before speaking again. "okay... fine. I was a little rude too. My name is Rayne Skye Teagan."

"Well Rayne, I'm Chris. As for what I have against dear Chase...it's more of just the fun of having something over him. I really shouldn't tell you what that is as I want to continue to hold it over his head. The more people I tell the more likely it will get out before I get to have my fun." He really shouldn't be telling her this much but he didnt really think she'd go blabbing.
"Anyways, we probably shouldn't stick around here too long. There's a chance Professor McKinney could come to check on his Claws and I'd rather not have him catch me here. He doesn't exactly like me either."

Maybe Rayne was right when she had told Phoenix she thought Chase and Brent were a couple. That would be something... "I respect that."[/b] She wasn't going to try to force it out of him. He laughed and said "yeah, I've got blackmail on him." He laughed again at the thought of how he got his blackmail.
"As for your question, yes I will escort you back to the common room. If we get caught, at least we will both have detention." Alex wouldn't be happy if he got detention but she would live after yelling at him for a bit. "So are you going to tell me how dear Chase caught you? It's a bit of a walk up to the common room."

Rayne just simply smiled as he said he would escort her back to the common room. She didn't need an escort, but she'd go along with it. Wasn't like it truly mattered anyways. "Brent caught me. Not Chase. I was just walking about like I am now. I do it often. I get caught often too."

Chris chuckled at her slip of tongue. He guessed that she didn't want him to know that little detail. If he remembered right Phoenix was a Claw like Alex and the real reason she ended up down there. He could have a bit of fun with this. "Nyxie?? Got a nickname for him do ya? So is he your boyfriend?" He laughed as they walked.

When she heard what he said... well. She actually tripped and fell. She half caught herself with her hands. What was with her lately... first she blushed when she was talking to Nyxie and then she tripped and fell when she was with some random dude... not like her at all.
"Er. No. He's not my... We just met... I barely know him..."
[/b] She stuttered. She was about to pull herself up when she heard footsteps in front of her. She slowly lifted her head to see their head of house coming down the hallway toward them. Just great. "Oh hello professor...[/b] Chase had been wandering the halls in case anything was out of the ordinary or whatever. Those things that teachers were supposed to do. He rarely did them, but tonight he decided to. What was the harm in wandering the halls a bit. It was kind of uneventful at first. Until he heard some voices and then what seemed like skin hitting the floor. Turning the corner, he saw two students from his own house. "Hello there Miss Teagan. Have a nice fall?" He joked with her. "Hope it was worth it considering you're out of the common room past curfew. You as well Mr. Sutton. What are you two doing?" Chase really hadn't felt like getting anyone in trouble. Not to mention that Chris person pissed him off quite a bit... [/blockquote] |

Chris figured he wasn't getting the rest of that story anytime soon. "Chase always has to mess things up." He looked over at Rayne and sighed before turning to his professor.
"Hello Professor. Well since I already have detention I might as well be honest. I was spending time with my girlfriend until I realized it was after curfew. I left as soon as I realized that. Rayne here was off on a little walk when I advised her that it would be best if she returned to the common room."
Chris smirked before he confused. "I know you don't like giving out detentions or getting anyone into trouble so how about you just let us go back to the common room without a detention."

Rayne couldn't believe Chris had just outright told Chase what they were doing. It was so... weird. And he advised her?! Since when? It was kind of a mutual thing. He had just suggested they go because of Brent. But it wasn't advising... Rayne just kind of stayed there in awe for a second before pushing herself off the ground so she could stand up. "Wh-hat he said...." [/b] She stuttered a bit. Always having just accepting the detention and never tried to get out of it. It was weird, but if he got her out of detention... well. They would be new best friends. Chase listened to Chris talk. He was the same boy he met in the kitchens. Sadly, he was dead on. Chase hated giving out detentions because of how many he had gotten because of Brent when they were at school. Of course, it was kind of different. He still didn't like giving them. But he was a teacher, and he was kind of obligated. "One... you blackmailed me. Why would I do something nice for you... Two. I'm a professor... I have to give detentions for rule breaking. You two broke the rules..." It was the truth... Chase probably would have let Rayne off with just an escort back to the common room. But he had personal reasons to dislike Chris. [/blockquote] |

Chris wanted to laugh as Rayne stammered. It made him think that she didn't really care whether or not she had a detention. Chris didn't either to an extent but as this one came from Chase he figured he'd have a little fun trying to get out of it.
"Yeah, I did but I kinda apologized for that. You just don't like me cause I tried to get you to do that thing with that one person if you get my drift. Now, come on professor. We both know you don't always play by the rules. We also know that you don't want to give these detentions. So why not just let us off. We promise to go straight to the common room."

Rayne just kind of stood there. She didn't know what to do, but she knew it was probably better if she had Chris do all the talking. She would just stammer and hurt them in the end. He seemed like he knew what he was doing. And if he really did have blackmail over Chase... that had to count for something, didn't it?
Chase couldn't really believe that he was trying to talk his way out of this after he blackmailed Chase and Brent first. "Because it wouldn't have been ethical! I'm with someone else now anyways. TOo late." Chase told him. He knew that Chris was just trying to help Tyler though... he couldn't blame him, could he? Chris seemed to be a good friend. God he needed to get a back bone. "Fine... go straight back to the common room and tell no one I let you go. Got me?" Chase was such a softie.
