Chris smirked. He had won. Again. Another one in the win column for him! "Oh I see. It seems Rayne that we aren't the only ones who caught ourselves a Raven. Well then sir, we shall return to the tower and let you get to him."
He turned to Rayne and saw the shocked look on her face. Apparently he had surprised her with talking back to Chase. He laughed. "Come on, let's head back. We don't wanna keep Professor McKinney waiting." He smirked and walked away, without looking again at the Care of Magical Creatures teacher.

Chase let them walk away. He had a feeling he was going to regret it somehow, considering he had told him, and therefore him that him and Brent were dating. But it wasn't a secret. Was it? Chase didn't think it was. Brent had told Vlad in the staff room after all. Chase could tell a student that aggravated him. Seemed fair. So he let them walk away without another word.
Rayne couldn't believe they had actually gotten away with that... there was no way that actually worked. She didn't miss Chris's comment though. "I didn't catch myself a raven!"

"Yet. You haven't caught a Raven yet. That's what you meant right?" He smiled, something which he did a lot when he was happy and getting one over on his professor made him happy.
"As for your question, I brought him up because he's part of the whole thing. Well the whole thing between Chase and me. That and he's the one that Chase is in a relationship with. The unethical part that Chase mentioned was something else I tried to blackmail him with. Blackmailing teachers seems to have become one of my favorite past times, well when I'm not hanging out with my girlfriend."

Was Chris a mind reader or something? Did he know she had said yet in her mind too? It wasn't accurate though. It wasn't like Rayne could just force Nyxie to like her. She wasn't even one hundred percent sure she liked him. She didn't know him completely... But every time she thought of him, she smiled. His smile was contagious, and his eyes were adorable. There was something different about him.
It took a second for Rayne to recognize what he had said. He had just told her that Chase and Brent were in a relationship... her assumptions were actually true!
Rayne was about to reply when she heard a voice. One that wasn't his, and one that sounded extremely angry. She looked up to see Brent looking at them. "You have got to be kidding me...

Of all the things that could happen, they would run into Brent right away getting away from Chase. He knew that he could get out of his detention he just needed to do it right and Rayne needed to stay quiet. He turned to Rayne and whispered, "Whatever happens, just go with what I say. I may be about to get us out of this."
He turned to Brent. "Good evening Professor. We just ran into Ch...I mean Professor Jackson a few moments ago and he, like you, gave us a detention. So you see, you don't need to give us one. And before you say anything about not believing it, you know he doesn't like me so there's no way I wouldn't get a detention from him." He didn't think it would work but it might give him enough of a start to get Brent to believe him and let them go without a detention.

Rayne didn't really know what was going on, like she often didn't. What she did know, was that whatever Chris was going to do couldn't end very well. She didn't say anything in response to him when he whispered to go along with it. As it was it would probably cause suspicion to Brent. Which wouldn't be helpful.
When Chris said what his plan was to Brent. Well. It took everything Rayne had to keep her mouth shut and her eyes at a normal size. Then when Brent answered him... Well. She wanted to tell him to take the dick out of his ass. but figured that wouldn't be the best.
"That's not fair, Professor! Chase just gave us one! We were going back to our common room!"

Chris wished he could say that he didn't believe that Brent would give them two, but he really could believe it. The man disliked him, a lot! He might just have to use a different approach to this one. "Why would I be lying sir. Chase really just saw us and gave us a detention."
"Time to spice things up." Hopefully things didn't go bad for Chris with this.
"Now sir do you really want to stand here debating whether or not I'm lying or would you rather go find Professor Jackson and go to bed? As for our detentions, do you really want to spend all that time watching us because we were heading back to the common room as we were told? You could spend that time with the man you love." Chris tried to keep a straight face. This really was too good. If this worked, he might just have to tell Alex about it. "So sir, which will it be?"

Chris had just said what he'd thought he'd said, right? "You! H-how dare you?" Brent roared, "Trust me, whether you've been lying or not, you can be perfectly sure that you are getting detention! Both of you go straight back to your common room, now!" Brent really felt the urge to strangle someone right now. Rayne couldn't believe what Chris had said! Knowing Brent and Chase were dating, and making a comment about them going to bed with each other were two different things. Whatever Chris was working at with Brent, had completely gone out the window. There was no way they were going to get out of their detentions now.

Chris knew when to leave well enough alone and now was one of those times. With any luck he and Rayne would get out of yet another detention. If nothing well Professor Jackson was in for a good ole fashion argument and that thought alone made Chris' night. "Good night sir."
He walked around his professor and down the hall knowing that Rayne would follow him. Once he was out of earshot of the professor he turned to Rayne. "Nicely done back there. For a moment I thought I had messed it up for the both of us. Good thinking bring Chase telling us into it. With any luck they will be arguing about spreading the news of their relationship that they will forget about us. Just keep a low profile for a few days and it all should blow over no problem."

Rayne mumbled a goodnight to Brent as she followed Chris when he had walked away. She didn't think that would actually work... to divert Brent's anger elsewhere... but it seemed like it did. That didn't mean they wouldn't get a detention though. Brent would probably still give them one. Especially after talking to Chase and then knowing they had lied.

Chris really hoped she didn't do anything stupid over the next few days. If there was going to be any chance of keeping Brent and Chase off their case, it was not pissing them off any further. Chris had to make sure she understood that.
"Listen Rayne, you really should try to stay below the radar, at least for the next few days. They will be arguing for at least tonight and likely tomorrow. If you get in their way they will remember that I, and therefore in extension you, started it all. See now why you should just lie low?"
