Chris beamed. She liked it! That made his heart soar. He knew his food was good but to hear it from the girl he loved was great. "I'm glad you like it love."
He drove into his own plate. He was starving as he really didn't eat anything during the day. He knew he was goin to make dinner so he had tried to keep an empty stomach for it. In hindsight, that probably wasn't the best idea.
Dinner went by quickly as they were both hungry and just wanted to go to bed. There was one thing he wanted to do before they went to bed. He took her hand and smiled at her. "Alex, I never thought I could be as happy as I am with you. You are funny, beautiful, intelligent, caring, the best girl a guy could ask for. I went to Hogwarts thinking that my last year was going to suck. I didn't expect to make friends and I definitely didn't expect to find the girl I'd grow to love. While I'm still not sure what I want to do now that I've graduated, I know that I want to be with you." He stood up and knelt next to her. "Alex, I never want to be without you. Will you do me the honor of being my wife? Will you marry me?"

Alexis was accepting the compliments she got from Chris. But then when he moved and knelt in front of her, her breathing seemed to stop. What was he doing? Then just after asking the question in her mind, he popped the question. Alex's eyes shot open.
"Chris.... I ... Uhm... We just finished school... We're still 17 years old.. Going 18... D-don't you think that its a bit too early for you to ask me that?" It wasn't that Alex didn't want to marry him. It was just that... It was a bit too early for them to do so. And Alex didn't want him to regret it after. |

Chris felt his heart drop. She didn't want to get married. She hadn't said those exact words but that's what she meant. He didn't know what to do. He didn't know how to feel. All he knew is he looked like the biggest idiot ever.
He stood, slowly, and walked to the balcony's railing. "No, I don't think it's too early. Many people get married right out of school. Plus again doesn't matter to me. We don't have to get married right away." He looked out at the grounds. "If you want to even get married." he said silently.

Alexis was threading on uncharted waters. She didn't know what to do. But then she smirked as he had his back on her. There was only one way to make him understand and believe that she was going to marry him. She wrapped her arms around his waist and buried hr face in his back.
"I'm going to marry you, you idiot... Just not now. Because I don't see a ring and I have yet to introduce you to my parents as my boyfriend. Give me a little time." she told him softly.
"However... for the mean time, I can give you something to show you that I will marry you..." she said as she whispered in his ears and slowly sliding her hand down to his pants. Gods she hoped he won't stop her. |

Chris didn't really feel better about everything. Sure it felt nice to have her arms around him but it was his heart that hurt. She didn't say to it eventually, but she wouldn't even wear the ring. He just, he was sad.
He felt her try to excite him. He sighed. He pulle her hand from his pants and turns around. His eyes held his emotions, he made no move to hide them. "You're right, you haven't introduced me. How could I have been so stupid to think you felt the same as I did." He moved around her and headed inside. "I'm tired. I'm going to bed. The house elves will help you with anything you need. Good night Alex." He walked through the door quickly, hiding the tears now falling down his cheeks.

Alex was just dumbstruck. Chris just left her. Again. What.The.Fuck! "Are you a bloody idiot?! I want to marry you! I just don't see a ring when you proposed! And I haven't actually introduced you to my parents because they aren't here and I can't even get a hold of them!" she said with tears in her eyes.
She couldn't believe it. Alex was so happy and Chris just had to ruin it for her. "I would have even settle for a ring made from a flower! I just wanted a bloody ring! And you just ruined my fantasy of you proposing to me by being like this! Fine! Good night then" she said as hot tears ran down her face.
She tried to look for her bag but she couldn't find it. |

Chris heard Alex's words. Wait. What was that? Did he fuck things up, again? Damn it. He sighed. Time to fix this...maybe. "Wait, what did you say? A ring? You mean the ring I have in my pocket? Why didn't you just say that?"
He walked back towards her. He saw that she was pissed. He wasn't happy either. This is not how he wanted this to go. "Love can we just take a breath and talk. You don't want to be engaged but you want my ring? Love Im so confused. Please help me understand."

Chris was talking to her but she was still searching for her bag. "I didn't say I didn't want to get engaged! You knelt down without a ring and I always imagined that when you proposed to me, you'd have a ring ready and showed it to me when you proposed!" she told him as she found her bag and turned to him.
Tears were still running down her eyes. "In your pocket? Why? Were you proposing to me or your pocket?" she asked sarcastically. She lost her good mood now. For two reasons: 1. Chris proposed without a ring and left her, and 2. Because he shot her attempt for sex. She was just drained now. |

Chris sighed and looked at his feet. It appears he screwed this up more than he thought. He wasn't sure what to do. On one hand he could pull out the ring and try again. It had lost all it's romance though. On the other hand he could apologize, say he would do it a different day then go moop in his room, maybe with some alcohol. He choose the former.
He took a deep breath. He reached into his pocket and pulled out the ring box. He dropped to a knee, might as well go all out. "Alex, I have just proved to you that sometimes I'm the biggest idiot in the world. I don't always say or do the right thing." He opened the box, showing her the beautiful diamond ring inside. "The one thing that is always a constint is my love for you. Would you do my the honor of wearing my ring? Will you marry me, eventually?"

Alex was still crying but she smiled at him. She held her hand out for him, "Of course I will say yes!" she told him. She could never imagine herself marrying someone else. It was just wrong. It wasn't right. Chris was the only one she was marrying.
"And I am glad you know that you can be an idiot. But your my idiot. And I love you despite it." she told him with a smile on her face. she was crying tears of joy now.
Then she imagined how she was going to introduce Chris to her parents: "Mother... Father... This is Christopher Sutton... My Ex-boyfriend... Because he is now my fiance." That was going to shock them and she knew it. But they will love her still. |

Chris smiled. He smiled big. He took the ring out of the box and placed it on Alex's left ring finger. It looked amazing on her hand. He stood up and kissed her. It was a deep, passionate kiss. He pulled back and just held her.
This was how things were suppose to end. "You have just made me a very happy man love." He rubbed her hand with his thumb. "You know, this ring is very special to me. This ring, it belonged to my mother. My mother's will stated that she wanted me to have it. I knew that I would only give it to someone I truly loved. That person is you."

She looked at the ring. It was beautiful. And it was even more beautiful because it was a family heirloom. She hugged and kissed Chris again. "I love you! Amazingly so much more than I thought I was able to love anyone else." she told him and just hugged him.
"And thank you for this ring. I'll definitely marry you, not because of the ring but because I love you and you hold my world in your hands." she told him and gave him a kiss that was deep and full of love. |

Chris was on top of the world. The woman of his dreams was now his fiancé. This, this was just amazing. "You are amazing and I love you so much. I am so happy right now."
He wrapped his arm around his fiance's waist. He couldn't get over that word. "How about tomorrow we go around the magical secular of New York. I want to introduce you to my uncle. He is the best uncle ever and him being the Minister of Magic helps." He smiled and lead his love up to his room. They had some celebrations to do.
