It was busy at Zonko's, with tons of people swarming about the shop and picking up pranks to buy. Noise levels were at an all-time high, and Nathaniel couldn't help but wish that it had been a quiet day, instead. He'd even prepared for a boring day at work. A good, mindless, ridiculously romantic novel, and another one about some detective guy and his flatmate (that one had copious amounts of UST, that one did). If needed, he even had paper for fanfiction, although that wasn't something he did a lot.
Too bad. He was constantly-- and he meant constantly, like some non-stop flow-- checking out pranks, helping people get whatever they needed and similar things. Zonko's really needed to employ more people for these busier days. Then again, it would kind of be a waste of money, because the quiet days were seriously quiet.
"Sir, could I have some help with--"
"Excuse me, could you come to the counter--"
"Sir--"
"Mister--"
Oh, God.

Nathaniel had just been dealing with a particularly annoying old woman berating him for selling her 'precious little darling' some dungbombs and was really quite close to giving up and yelling at her before someone tapped him on his shoulder. He closed his eyes for a moment, thinking that it was probably once again going to be another troublesome customer (or heaven forbid, their mother) and pasted his best assistant-I'm-ready-to-help! face on before turning to look at who it was.
And... wow. Well, that was certainly someone he'd never thought he'd see in the shop. Well, not while he existed, anyways. Teddy Lupin, Auror and the godson of Harry freaking Potter. Wow. If only the shop were more quiet. He might have flirted a little, then, and maybe tried to get an autograph from him for Lisa. Lisa had a frankly rather ridiculous/frightening celebrity-crush on the boy; newspaper clippings and the lot. It was especially frightening because Lisa was only 10.
Then Teddy Lupin asked for the price of the teacups. Teacups? Nathaniel hardly remembered that Zonko's even sold any teacups, much less their price. Oh, well. He'd have to go out back and check the price, then. At least that way he might be able to get some time away from the huge crowd in Zonko's.
"Oh. Er, I'm not too sure about that... how about I go and check it out for you? Sorry for the trouble."

(or at least that was what it said on his name badge) any more hassle. It really was packed in the shop at the moment. To Teddy it was obvious that Zonko's needed to employ more staff so people wouldn't have to run around so much. He felt bad for making it even worse.[/ul]

Zonko's was really, really packed, and yeah, it was rather troublesome, but he figured that the best way to clear out the shop was to try to deal with every single customer as quickly as he could. And if he could start that with helping Teddy Lupin check out the price of some mysterious teacups, Nathaniel didn't mind at all.
Nathaniel slipped away out back as quickly as he could, checked the price and re-emerged. After a while, he managed to find Teddy amongst the crowd and headed towards him.
"3 sickles per teacup," Nathaniel told Teddy, smiling a little. "You couldn't have come into the shop another time, could you? I would be hounding you for an autograph if the shop weren't so busy. My sister absolutely adores you. It's rather frightening, but she'd love it if I got her your autograph for a birthday present or something. It's her birthday soon, anyway," Nathaniel laughed a bit, thinking of Lisa's would-be reaction. But, well, that'd never happen. Ah, and he was rambling again. It wasn't really a good habit, especially when the shop was as busy as it was, but it just happened sometimes.
He really needed to get back to the other customers.

him. It was a rather concerning though. Knowing that someone actually cared enough to really want an autograph brought a light blush to Teddy's cheeks. "I mean, I-I guess I could if she really wants my autograph." he said as a small smile flitted across his soft features.[/ul]

Nathaniel smiled in reply to Teddy's offer, and then grinned at the realisation that it could technicallymaybepossibly be considered a date. If he wanted it to be a date. Because Teddy was cute.
And, damn it, he figured that going on a date with Teddy would be really fun. Even if it didn't end up in sex, it would be pretty fun. He figured.
"Well, if you're really okay with giving the autograph, maybe it'd be considered a date?"

Teddy accepting his offer of a date had been completely unexpected. So what if he had been the one to ask him out; he got rejected more often than not nowadays, at times even unintentionally hitting on soon-to-be-married men. It was... really ego-boosting to not be rejected. And by one of the cutest ones, too. This was a good day, despite the busyness of the shop.
And Nathaniel so wasn't blushing-- oh, to hell with it, he was, and he also had the soppiest, stupidest smile on his face. Ridiculous thoughts of soul-mates and happily ever afters floated happily through his mind (as they did whenever he got a date, because he was just that hopeless of a romantic). But then he realised that he was probably freaking Teddy out with his just standing there and grinning stupidly, so he said the first thing that came to his mind.
"Really? Seriously? Yes! Mission successful! You're actually willing to go out with me! Okay. Calm down. Shit, this is awesome. Okay. Shit. Yeah. Where is my brain-to-mouth filter. Well anyway. When are you free? Are you free today? We could go on a date today. My shift ends in approximately..." he glanced at his watch. "An hour! So. Whaddya say?"
Okay, so he'd overreacted a little. But screw it, he was nervous, this was the first date he'd gotten in forever, Teddy had said yes, and he was going on a date with a really, really cute Auror! Life just didn't get much better than that.
(Not for Nathaniel, anyway, and Merlin, that was a depressing thought.)

. With a really adorable guy too, Teddy might add. He laughed more as it was just the two of them standing there smiling at one another. Already, Teddy had the feeling he wasn't going to regret accepting Nathaniel offer of a date. "Yes..." Teddy said slowly, unable to keep the grin off his face now. It looked like Nathaniel hadn't been expecting a yes. Well, neither had Teddy. Teddy being Teddy hadn't been expecting anything apart from to buy Al a couple of present then come home to spend another night with no one for company but his grandmother, Andromeda Tonks. "I'm free any time, I've got the weekend off for once." he smiled a little awkwardly, "That sounds good to me. Do.. do you know where we're going to go?"[/ul]

Shit.
Nathaniel was definitely in hugeass deep shit, because he had never actually brought anyone on a proper date before. In fact, most people just dragged him out wherever they wanted to go, and then had sex with him in a convenient place. Real relationships were rather hard to come by, especially for someone who tried to persuade every cute human being he saw to have sex with him.
And since Nathaniel didn't have a brain-to-mouth filter, he said the first thing that came to his mind. Which was, unsurprisingly, "Hotel."
It was only after a while that he realised his mistake. After all, Teddy looked like a shy, awkwardish (really adorable) kind of guy, and he didn't really want to scare Teddy off like that. He was eager to have sex, yeah, but not that eager. He blushed a little before hastily attempting to change what he said.
"Er, no, not hotel! I mean, er. Erm! We should go to a muggle movie or something. If you want. And then we could go have a nice dinner. And if you want, we could go to a hotel to spend the night...?" Nathaniel grinned sheepishly at the last part, because he really did feel rather awkward asking Teddy to have sex with him. It kind of felt like he was... corrupting Teddy, or something.
But damn it, Nathaniel Wilson just didn't ask guys out on dates without the promise of sex. And it wasn't like he was expecting anything, it was just... asking... so it should be okay. ...right?

Teddy, after all. "That, uh... sounds good. It's just... I think it's a no to the hotel. I-I usually take things a bit slower." he gave his opinion quietly, the blush still not leaving his cheeks. Awkward. Oh so awkward. Teddy was so tempted to run. But this would be good for him, he could hear his grandmother agreeing. Because Teddy was maybe a bit of a loner...[/ul]

Nathaniel knew that he'd probably freaked Teddy out with the entire 'hotel!' suggestion, but... damnit, he really wanted to have sex with Teddy. But yeah, he'd wait, because he also kinda already really wanted a proper-nice-sweet-fluffy relationship with Teddy.
"Okay! Wow, a date. Oh, gosh. Okay. Can't believe you actually said yes to someone like me. Wow. Er, how about we meet at... Muggle London? Er, tomorrow, 5 o' clock? Would that be okay?" Nathaniel grinned sheepishly, playing with his necklace. He tended to do that when he was nervous-- it was a bad habit, but hey, it calmed him down.
Oh Merlin, please say yes please say okay please don't be too freaked out by the hotel suggestion and change your mind about going on a date oh Merlin please he practically chanted in his head, feeling quite uneasy and trying to think of what he'd say if Teddy changed his mind. He'd probably turtle away awkwardly or something, but hopefully it wouldn't come to that.
Yeah, so Nathaniel was nervous and praying in his head. Sue him.
