Nathaniel had just been rearranging some of the pranks in the shop that had been messed up by the kids who had visited earlier when Brent came in, looking like he was about to cry. He was rather shocked by it, because Brent didn't seem like the kind to cry unless something really, really major had happened.
Something really, really major... like a lovers' fight with Chase.
"Brent! You look like shit. Did you have a fight with Chase?" But before Brent could reply, Nathaniel was already pushing him out back. There, it'd probably be easier to get Brent to spill about what had happened. "Hey, stop crying for a bit, okay? Let's go out back and you can tell me all that's happened."

Aiden decided to come late to the joke shop. He wasn't really feeling well and wanted to just go to the shop and tell Nathaniel that he was going to take the day off. He was planning to go and see Chase and explain everything to him. That Aiden didn't really want to destroy him and Brent and that from then on, he was going to fully support them no matter what.
Aiden sighed as he was walking closer to the shop. He didn't know what came over him but one thing he knew was that he wanted Brent to be at his happiest. And for that to happen, Aiden had to set Brent free. Yes, that was the only way to achieve his new goal. After seeing Chase, Aiden might go and see Jackie and probably drink until he couldn't walk or think straight.
Aiden knew that Jackie would probably make fun of him at first but would comfort him later on.

Nathaniel pushed the still-kinda sobbing Brent down into a chair and passed him some... well, he wasn't really sure what it was, but he was pretty sure that it was liquor. And liquor usually helped take out the awkwardness of such situations, yeah. He was pretty sure that the boss wouldn't mind; after all, it was for a friend, right? Wasn't like he was going to drink any. "What happened? Did you have a fight with Chase? Are you-- did he cheat on you? Or, what happened?" Okay, so maybe that wasn't the best thing to say, especially seeing as to how protective Brent was of Chase. And no matter what, Chase didn't really seem like the type to cheat. "Or did something happen with your wedding plans or something? Did you two fight? You can tell me about it. Okay, I should stop talking now." So Nathaniel shut his mouth and waited for Brent to talk. Hopefully Aiden wouldn't come in and question the random (crying) appearance of Brent, or why Nathaniel was tending to him instead of the shop (which he was being paid to do). OOC: er. Just a note, I wasn't sure whether Aiden was in the shop or not, so I just took it that he wasn't. Yeah.  |

Aiden entered the empty shopped and looked around. He was taking off his scarf and wondered where Nate was. The shelves were half bare. It was like it was left half finished. He didn't call out and just decided to do the shelving himself. He did it with little noise as he can. He wasn't in the mood to hear loud clacking sounds of bottles and viles together. After a few more minutes, he finished and decided to head to the back room and straight to his office.
But as Aiden came closer, he could hear voices. He knew one was Nate's. But Aiden couldn't really tell who owed the other voice. He remained quiet and tried to listen in, hoping he would know who owed the other voice and what the matter was. It sounded like the owner of the unknown voice was sobbing. Something must have happened.
[OOC: It's alright. Aiden did just enter the shop in this post. ^_^]

Nathaniel was really quite surprised when he heard that Brent had cheated on Chase. It didn't really seem like something that Brent would do, what with his inloveness and all. And yeah, Nathaniel was a little annoyed with Brent for cheating on Chase-- cheaters were a terrible sort of human-- but it seemed like Brent knew that he'd done something wrong, so yeah.
Wasn't going to stop Nathaniel from calling him a stupid dick, though.
"Seriously, you cheated? What, why? And then why are you here right now? Did Chase leave or something? Did you... shit, you left, didn't you? You're a dick. You have a lot of making up to do." But, well, at least Brent admitted to Chase that he cheated. That would take balls, yeah. And knowing them, they'd hopefully probably make up. Hopefully soon.
"Okay, tell me everything. Why did you cheat? Who did you cheat with?"

Aiden was shocked to have discovered that it was Brent. But why was he here? And since when were they close friends? He listened in and heard that Brent was telling Nate about Chase and the fight they had. "Must be after I had taken Brent home." Aiden thought. He didn't want to break them up and he knew that for some reason, Nate was going to do more good that Aiden will.
He kept quiet and hoped that Brent wasn't going to sob even more or Aiden might just burst into the room. He tried to control himself and bit his own fist so that he wouldn't bring himself to say anything that might make Brent move away even more.

Brent was crying so hard he thought he was going to be sick. Whatever. It was his own fault, and he knew it. And he shouldn't have raised his voice at Nathaniel... he didn't deserve it. "A-Aiden. It... it wa-was Aiden." Brent sobbed brokenly. Nathaniel would obviously know Murph, he worked for the guy. Brent didn't know what he'd think of this whole thing though. "I ju-just... "Aiden? Like, my boss here Aiden?" Nathaniel was going to comment on how weren't they supposed to be close friends? and similar nonsense, but then again, he supposed it didn't really matter who Brent had cheated with, but how to get Chase to forgive him and take Brent back.
"Well, that doesn't really matter right now. First things first, stop drinking. If you'd kissed Aiden when drunk, and go back to Chase to grovel drunk too, there's a much less chance of him wanting to forgive you." Nathaniel took away the liquor and put it back into the fridge. "Okay, at least you weren't really of sound mind when you made out with the boss-man. I hope Chase knows this, by the way. It's not a good reason, though. What I think you should do is to let Chase know exactly how sorry you are, and even if that means having an extremely un-manly heart-to-heart session or offering to kiss his feet, whatever, do it and let him know."
Nathaniel could already feel a headache coming on. All his romantic advice was coming from extensive reading of lovey-dovey novels, and everyone knew that things didn't exactly turn out that way in real life. It couldn't hurt to try, though. "Just... you should go back. That should at least let him know that you haven't given up on your relationship or something, let him know that you don't want it to end? Chase'll forgive you eventually." Or so he hoped.

Aiden was in shock. Chase told Brent to leave? He thought he loved Brent? But then again, Brent must have told Chase about what happened and that just made the bearded man snap. Brent cheated. And Brent cheated with him. Chase knew their were best friends. And that they were supposed to only be best friends. Aiden sighed. If only he didn't love someone else, he'd try to take Brent away and comfort him.
Nate's advice sounded like a girl advice. That boy should stop reading love stories. It's not healthy for a guy to read too much love stories. Women do that, not men. But he had to hand it to Nate, the advice was a good one. Probably better than what Aiden could think of at the moment. He decided to listen a little more before he came into the room and help whichever way he could. It was his fault as well that Chase and Brent were in a fight.
Aiden then decided that he ought to have a talk with Chase. To get Chase to relax and admit that Aiden no longer wants to break them up. That he'd be happy for Brent if Chase would take him back and forgive him. He sighed. This was uncharted territory for Aiden. But he was willing to do for three people: Brent, Chase and Jackie. Aiden had to officially let Brent go so he could be happy with Jackie.

Nathaniel didn't really know what to say to Brent anymore. What he really wanted to do-- like, honestly, he was really itching to do it-- was to drag Brent back by the ear to Chase and make him apologise, but he really couldn't. He probably didn't have the strength to do so, anyway.
It was just really annoying to see a loving couple like Brent and Chase just get torn apart like that. Nat was pretty convinced that Chase would forgive Brent if he just went back and grovelled a bit, but he really didn't understand the 'later'. Even though one might say that Chase probably needed time to cool off, Nathaniel figured that Chase would be feeling more alone than anything right now. Brent really needed to go back and fix this. Everything.
"You... really need to go back. Chase probably really needs your comfort right now, and the longer you stay away, the more pain he'll be in, the more lonely he'll feel. Do you really want to cause Chase even more pain than you already have? Now, sober up, stop crying, go back and grovel at Chase's feet. What's with this 'later' business?"

Aiden agreed with Nate. Brent needed to go back and set things straight with Chase. So Aiden plucked up his courage and entered the back room. "Nate is right Brent, you should go back home to Chase and make things good with him." Aiden said as he hanged his scarf and jacket. Then he moved and stood behind Nate, "You and I will have a little chat after Brent goes home." he said as he gave Nate's shoulder a little squeeze.
It wasn't going to be about Brent. Aiden didn't like people who do their job and not finish until the end. "Brent, I'll have Nate take you back home. Just to make sure you do go home. Knowing you well enough, would probably go somewhere before actually going home." Aiden joked and chuckled a little. This was a bit painful for him but he didn't flatter this time. He didn't want to mess this up again. Jackie wasn't going to be so happy if he did.
