Chase was letting Brent lean on him and hold onto his arm as they were trying to walk back up to the castle. It was freezing out. But Chase had a feeling Brent wasn't holing onto him because he was smashed or because it was cold. Which was perfectly fine with Chase. Brent was beyond smashed and Chase could tell that he was trying to keep his mind off something. He just started to down glass after glass. Then again, Chase did close to the same. Just not as much glasses as Brent did.
"We're almost there, Brent-boo." Chase told him. He hoped they could make it in the castle without being seen by anyone. It would be a disaster if they ran into someone.
Just as Chase was thinking that, he froze. They had reached the front doors of the castle. To find Redpaw and Maryn standing there waiting for them. Chase's eye widened and he turned to Brent. Who was still clinging onto him. Chase shook his arm as to tell Brent that he needed to try to stand up by himself right now.
This could be disastrous.

James sat down next to Maryn, waiting for Brent to return. It was a good thing he had been working on a project that night or his friend would probably have to wait for her husband alone in the freezing cold.
Suddenly he finally saw Brent leaning on Chase Jackson, the Care of Magical Creatures professor and the scene made the History of Magic professor smirk slightly and raise an eyebrow. James had a feeling that the two younger men were more than just "friends". He had dated quite a few guys before Tania so he knew a gay couple when he saw one. However, at the same time, Jaminson felt extremely sorry for his dear matron friend.
"Evening!" James called out to the to younger men while putting a comforting hand on Maryn's shoulder "You better get inside and warm up quickly before one of you gets a cold."

Chase looked over at Brent, when he said he hated his life, with a look of guilt. They probably should have been more sneaky and tried to make sure they didn't run into anyone. Especially one of these two. They were probably the worst to run into.
"I'm sorry, Brent." Chase whispered low enough that he didn't think Maryn or Redpaw could hear. He made sure not to move his lips a lot so they wouldn't see that he said something either. He had gotten a lot of practice at that.
When Maryn asked where they were Chase glanced at Brent but figured it would probably be best if Chase answered because he was more sober than Brent was.
"We just went to Hogsmeade for a drink. To take a break from grading and classes and such. It's not a crime." Chase said it with probably a little more disgust than he probably should have but Chase really didn't like Maryn.
Chase rolled his eyes when Redpaw said 'Evening' in such a chipper mood. Even in his drunken state he hated Redpaw.
"Why do you have to be so God Damned happy all the time, Redpaw! Shouldn't you be sleeping so you can wake up early just to be happy again?" Chase really didn't like Redpaw. Not since the whole ordeal with Ceil.

Brent didn't think that would've gone down well. He cringed a little, not liking the way Chase was talking to Maryn, but didn't say anything about it. He'd tried getting them to become friends before and it had backfired horribly. Sending, Chase an apologetic look, Brent stumbled forwards and wrapped his arms around Maryn in a tight hug. Because he was her husband and she was warm and deserved an apology seeing as she had stayed up, waiting for him to return. "Didn't tell you.. sorry.. love you.." he mumbled quietly so only she could hear. Brent wasn't able to form complete sentences at the moment so opted for a couple of words at time. Smiling slightly, Brent let Maryn go and stood back next to Chase. "Nah, Maryn 'n' Chase're warm." he beamed goofily, looking from Maryn to Chase with a twinkle in his eyes. Brent couldn't help but smirk at Chase though, "Calm down, stressy."[/ul]

James decided to promptly ignore Chase's questions as he felt extremely short tempered and didn't want to slip into a bad mood. The History of Magic professor hated being in a bad mood since he felt like it brought out only the worse in him and would only cause trouble for others.
"Okay then." James replied with a smile to Brent "It's probably going to snow soon. I better make sure Berry and Redwall are inside the castle..."
James gave a tired yawn and rummaged through his cloak for a sugar quill or a chocolate frog or any type of sugar. He felt his need for a cigar coming and it would be bad if he sneaked in another smoke since he already had 3 cigars that week. James was trying to quit, not make the addiction stronger! But quitting was hard and his job as a teacher didn't help too much either.

Chase wanted to scream no when Brent walked away from him to go to Maryn. To hug Maryn... and tell her he loved her. It was one of the worst feelings ever. Chasehad grown accostomed to it throughout the years. He didnt know what he expected though. For Brent to just pick him over Maryn...? Like that was going to happen. It didn't happen before, what would make now any different. Obviously nothing.
But then Brent came back to his side... even smirked at Chase and joked that he was a stressy. He should know alcohol brought the worst out of Chase. he was a depressed and angry drunk. It was the way it happened. It just surprised Chase that Brent was able to joke even in this kind of situation. Then again, that was Brent.
Chase tried to ignore Maryns return of I love you, but it was hard... It sould be Chase saying that... not her. God damn. Did that kiss completely knock out all of the sense and patience that Chase had built since Brent and him broke up all those years ago? It seemed like it.
It was like Redpaw was ignoring his comment... and he kept talking about the fucking weather. Was he stupid...?
"Then why don't you go find them and make sure they're in the castle...." It seemed like a pretty good idea to Chase. Letting Redpaw leave. Maybe he would take Maryn so Chase and Brent could have a good rest of the night by joking around and stuff. Like they always did when they got drunk. Why did Maryn choose this time to block them from that fun. She had never done it before....

time... It was, like, wooooow!" Brent exclaimed, waving his arms around, trying to get across to his wife how much fun he'd had with Chase. He stopped when he realised James was speaking to him and grinned before bursting into song, "Let it snow, let it snow, let it snoooow!" Brent couldn't really help it; he was totally smashed and it was the first thing that popped into his head, he just had to let it out. "Your rodent dun't like me... or the.. the.. badger. I'm stayin' 'way from them!" Brent growled at Redpaw, "You love animals though, don't you, Unicorn Man? You could help, Paw-Paw Man?" Brent thought about it for a second but then decided that he didn't want Chase to leave him. "No! No! You stay here or I'll.. I'll.. Kill you?" Brent's threat had trailed off, sounding pathetic and not very threatening at all. Chase would listen to him though because he was just amazing and Chase-y.[/ul]
