Alex came just in time to see her cousin Blaze heading down to the dungeons. "Probably off to the Slytherin Common Room." Alex thought. However as she entered further, she saw a young man, a seventh year, by her quick analysis, heading her way. She wondered why he looked a bit struck and down.
"He must have ran into Blaze. Only her can make any guy looked so crushed from one run through conversation. She decided to make him feel a little better. She ought to since it was he own cousin that made him look that way.
"Excuse me..." Alex called out as she quickly made her way to the young Gryffindor. She had her best smile on her face and ready to fix whatever damage her cousin just caused.

Chris walked with his head down towards the door. His run-in with that Slytherin girl had brought him down some. All he wanted was someone to talk to; something that apparently was too much to ask from his House.
He noticed another girl in the Entrance Hall as he was on his way out. He hadn't planned on stopping, but he heard her call out to him.
He turned around and answered, "Yes?"

"Hi, I was just wondering... Did you, by any chance, talked to that Slytherin girl who just left?" Alex asked. She knew that telling him that she was her cousin would only make him feel a bit mad at her too. "I better fix him before he leaves. He doesn't deserve the knock down Blaze gave him." she thought.
"Whatever she told you, you really shouldn't take it to heart. Slytherins tend to be very rude and cruel. Especially against Gryffindors. You should have known by now. And... You should have know who you were talking too." she added. She gave him a warm smile.

"The bitchy one who just left, yeah I talked to her. All I did was say hi and she went all crazy on me." "Why does this girl care how the other girl treated me?" he thought.
"Why do you care anyways? I'm just a lowly transfer student that no one talks to nor cares about. It's not like anyone told me about these stupid House prejudices and stuff. My own House pretty much told me to just figure it out by myself. How the hell am I supposed to do that?"
Chris couldn't believe he just ranted all that to some random girl he doesn't know. "I hope this girl doesn't blow me off or yell at me like the last one."

Alex's smile got wider. She stretched out her hnd towards him, "I'm Gariella Alexis Knightlyof Ravenclaw. Seventh year. And I care now because your new and didn't deserve what you got from that Slytherin girl." she told him.
"I can't actually call my cousin a bitch now can I." she thought. "Do you need any help figuring out Hogwarts? I can help you if you like." She told him. "He needs at least one friend. He won't survive on his own if he stays a loner. He'll be easy pry for the rest of those snakes." she thought again.
"So? how about it?" she asked him while her hand was still stretch out towards him. "You need one friend to get by here. I can be that friend... if you like that is." she told him.

Chris smiled for the first time since he came to Hogwarts. This Ravenclaw was right, he did need a friend. If she wanted to be that friend, who was he to say no.
Chris shook her hand and said, "Nice to meet you Gabriella. My name is Christopher Sutton, but call me Chris. I'm a Seventh Year Gryffindor and a transfer student from America."
"I could use a friend, as well as some help getting around this place. The castle is so big and no one seems to want to help me."
Chris couldn't help but realize how beautiful this girl was. "Quiet Chris. You don't need to start thinking about stuff like that. This girl just wants to be your friend, not anything else." he told himself.

"Call me Alex. Hogwarts has that effect on new comers. But it is big." she told him. She shook his hand and she smiled at him kindly. He seemed kind of nice. And he wasn't bad looking either. She was now wondering why her cousin would just snobbed him like that.
"America eh. I waa born and raised in New York City. But moved here when I was nearly nine... So, any particular place you want to see?"she asked him. She was wondering why she felt easy around him. "Must because his American like me... Not many like us here..." she thought as she waited for his answer.

"Wait. You were born and raised in New York City? That's so weird, so was I! What are the odds that we are both from the same place?"
Chris couldn't believe it. Not only did this girl want to be his friend, but she also grew up in the same place as he did! He had a feeling this was definitely going to be a good friendship. They already had so much in common and they had just met.
"There's no where in particular that I want to see, but I could do with a general tour of the place. On second thought, what's your favorite place in the castle? Maybe, you could show it to me."

Alex smiled at him with all sincerity in her heart. No one has asked for her favorite place in Hogwarts since she was sorted into Ravenclaw. Not even Blaze knew about her favorite spot.
"Well, what do you know. A common thread we now have... And as for your question, my favorite place would NOT be the library. Despite being a Ravenclaw, I don't spend every waking day of my existence within the confines of the Hogwarts Library." she told him.
She looked down at her hand which Christ was still holding. "I can show you were my most favorite place is.. However, can I have my hand back now?" she asked him.

"Oh shit, sorry." Chris quickly let go of Alex's hand and looked slightly embarrassed. He had totally forgotten that he was still holding her hand. Why did he feel so comfortable holding it that he didn't even realize he hadn't let go? Did he have sudden feelings for Alex that he hadn't realized. "How can I realize it if I've just met her? Well, she is beautiful... Damn it Chris. Stop that. You don't need to be thinking that way about someone you just met!" his mind yelled at him.
"I wouldn't assume your favorite place is the library. Just because you are a Ravenclaw, doesn't mean you think of your homework and studies all the time. I would love to see your favorite place in the castle, if you wouldn't mind sharing such a secret."

Alex simply gave him a warm smile. She was glad to have met this guy. He isn't judgmental nor is he air headed. Most Gryffindors she met and saw were too full of themselves since they are in the same house as Harry James Potter, the Saviour of their world.
"Well, let me lead you there then." she said as she led him out into the courtyard and heading straight to the Lake. It was her secret spot. Not even Blaze knew of it. It was were she could think and just be herself. No watchful eyes to be careful of.
For some reason, Christ made her feel like wanting to break out of her shell. She had been trying to keep herself in combustion to not make everyone take notice of her. She was not like her confident cousin. No, Alex knew that she was fearful of the spotlight and the eyes that would watch her when she would step into it.
