James opened the door to his new classroom and peered inside. It was just like he had known it. Boring and dull. It looked like one of the empty classrooms on the sixth floor. But not for long! James, of course, wanted his classroom to be home-y and fun so he would be adding a couch or two over there, a carpet there and perhaps some flying airplanes here or there.
"Well, this is where we'll be staying for a while." James said cheerfully to his weasel "Do you like it Captain Berry? Don't worry I'm not keeping it like this! I'll make sure you'll have your spot where you can eat and sleep."
Captain Berry, Jaminson's weasel, quickly scampered around the room, sniffing an occasional chair or the blackboard. James chuckled at his pet's energy and started planning his classroom's new design on the old desk in front of the chairs and next to the blackboard.
"First thing's first!" Jaminson talked to himself, taking out a framed picture from a small bag "We need to put Tania here. Hey there puppy! We're back in Hogwarts and I'm finally going to fulfill my dream of making History of Magic interesting and you're gonna join me!"
James tenderly put the photo onto his desk with a sad grin and returned to planning out his classroom.

she thought warily to herself as she glanced outside, only to see the rapidly darkening sky. She didn't think another literally sleepless night would do her any good at all. Maryn felt like the living dead today and hoped that she would feel better, not worse, tomorrow. Now that shs had some spare time on her hands, Maryn had chosen to introduce herself to the new History of Magic professor, Jaminson Redpaw. It took a while for her to reach the first floor as she was walking so slowly but she got there eventually. The door to the new professor's classroom had been left slightly ajar. Maryn poked her head around the door. "May I come in, sir?" she asked softly, mustering up all of the life she could just to smile at the newest staff member. Maryn didn't want him to feel at all uncomfortable and tried to forget how tired she was. After all, she was here to be welcoming; not feel sorry for herself[/ul]

"Of course, of course! I don't really have a seat to offer you except the ones for the students though..." James happily greeted his guest "The name's Jaminson Curtis Redpaw. You may call me James or Curtis for short and this is my weasel, Captain Berry!"
James motioned to his pet who was silently sniffing Maryn's legs. Berry promptly acknowledged Maryn with a nod before climbing up James' pants and staring at her from his lap.
James gave the matron a friendly grin and flicked his wand at one of the spare, wooden chairs which turned into a plush, cushiony armchair.
"Go ahead and sit! You look pretty tired so please sit." he quickly motioned to the armchair "I don't really recognize you so you must've been new when I graduated... Do you know Tania Dames? She's probably just a few years older than you."
James showed Maryn his picture of Tania on the desk, hoping she would recognize his wife.

"I am Maryn McKinney, the new matron here." Maryn attempted a grin, trying to stay as cheerful as James was. The grin didn't last long though and soon faded back to a deep frown. Nodding her thanks, she sat down; relieved to finally be off her feet. Carefully, Maryn examined the picture. "Tania Dames.." she echoed, hoping the name would ring a bell. For several seconds, she racked her brain for an answer but it really wasn't helping her headache. Maryn closed her eyes and held her head in her hands, trying to stop the pounding that was going on inside. "Hufflepuff.. yes, I knew her.." she whispered, her voice strained. "I'm sorry, honey, I'm not feeling too well today." Maryn apologised, feeling extremely rude for making a fuss.[/ul]

"It's fine, it's fine! I think I have some Muggle medicine for headaches and some water..." James quickly rummaged through his bag, looking for the said objects "I remember Tania got this horrible headache after DJ-ing from 8 pm to 4 am. After that I always kept some headache medicine with me."
James handed Maryn the water bottle and gave her two pills to swallow down. He then made sure she drank them down before putting the stuff back into his bag.
"Did you know Tania well?" he asked, hoping to find out more about his wife "Oh, forgive me for being so rude! How's your head? Are you feeling any better?"

"Really? Funny, she never talked about you. Tania usually talked about everyone but then again, I graduated already when she joined the Dueling Club..." James wondered for a bit "Yes, that is a very good sign! If you need more medicine feel free to ask! I'm happy that the two of you were acquaintances though. Tania didn't have many friends as she was a bit of an oddball. In fact, I was her only friend in Hogwarts until she graduated. She kept on complaining that she had no more friends at Hogwarts..."
He remembered the time when he was in Hogwarts and became friends with her. All of his 'friends' asked him if he was nuts but he decided to ignore them and befriend her anyway. Best. Choice. Ever. After 2 or 3 years their relationship was escalating into something more and when James graduated they already found out they both had feel ins for each other. The next years were difficult as no one really approved of them being together since he was dating a student while he already graduated and her parents hated him...

James was surprised as Maryn reached out and gave his hand a gentle squeeze.
"That may be true but I made many mistakes after my dear puppy died... She's probably still upset for what I did after all." James said a bit sadly "Not to mention her parents hated me even more after her death and the hate somehow escalated when I buried her back in America. I never did get along with her parents. I never knew the reason why... Did Tania say anything about me by any chance? I never really knew what she told other people about me."
After all, James never really bothered asking since he didn't want to sound too snoopy around Tania. However, he was a bit of an eavesdropper and liked to know what other people thought about him and other people around him. It was one of his traits that he could improve on...

professor looking quite cozy together. "So, how long has this been going on? Did he come here to spend more time with you? Or was it 'love at first sight'?" Brent shouted, fire in his eyes. He couldn't believe it. How could Maryn do this to him? His Maryn. Just his Maryn.[/ul]

. She gave James an apologetic look and looked her husband in the eye, she almost had to look away, the anger in his eyes unnerving her. "Brenty, listen, I just met James and we got talking. You've got it completely wrong... I'd never do that to you, darling, you know that right?" Maryn kept her voice soft and reasonably calm, not wanting to spark any further reaction from him. She turned back to James and said with a small sigh, "This is my husband, Brent McKinney. Brent, this is Hogwarts' newest professor, Jaminson Redpaw." Maryn looked at both men, hoping they'd at least try to act civilly with one another.[/ul]

"So you are Mr. McKinney! Nice to meet you!" James greeted his second guest happily "I see that you misinterpreted the relationship between me and your wife. You see, she just came by to welcome me and we ended up becoming friends."
James went up to shake hands with Brent. He had his cheerful smile on, hoping to make amends with his new friend's husband.
"A bit of an introduction now. My name is Jaminson Redpaw and, as Maryn said, I'm the new History of Magic professor. This is my weasel, Captain Berry. Lastly, this is Tania Redpaw, my wife!" James introduced himself and his pet and wife with a friendly grin "Moving on, I see you have a guitar! We must go caroling one time around the school or maybe even Hogsmeade! Oh, pardon me for rambling on. What is your guitar's name?"
James missed DJ-ing for Christmas parties. One of his favorite things to play were Christmas songs and he loved to remix them even more. Carol of the Bells Dubstep mix was a popular among his clients and it was a mix he very much enjoyed doing.
"Pity I can't use my computer here." James thought to himself "Maybe I should go to London for a bit during the holidays."

my wife. I don't give a fuck about who you are!" Brent glared at Redpaw, it was a glare formed by pure hatred and that certainly showed on his face. He narrowed his eyes, ignoring the other man's questions. "Watch your back, I've got my eye on you." he sneered. Then, Brent turned to his wife, his gaze softening just the slightest bit. "As for you... You could do a hell of a lot better, we both know that." Brent turned on his heel and was just about to walk out of the door....[/ul]

James stayed silent as Brent gave him an angry glare, trying to keep him self calm. But he failed to do so as Maryn started crying. He, being the gentleman he was, couldn't stand to see anyone cry. Though the Mai reason or his anger was due to the fact that Brent had offended Tania. His wife. His puppy.
"You know what kiddo? I am usually very patient and very welcome to just about anyone but you stepped the line when you dared to offend my wife." James' voice was cold and protective, very few had the misfortune of angering the generally happy professor "I hate to use my superior authority on others but I'm afraid I must. I am older than you and I have much more experience than you. You should be lucky that you still have a caring wife and that you never made mistakes I have made."
James was still protective of his beloved, dead wife and got easily offended when matters rose to her. He was also touchy about his children who he had lost during his grief for Tania.
