I'm just gonna dance all night, I'm all messed up, I'm so outta line Stilettos and broken bottles, I'm spinning around in circlesAlisha was in quite a good mood today. The classes hadn't been dragging on this morning, and the last course she had before lunch was potions, one of the only courses Alisha really liked. It was the finesse, the perfectness of a well made potion. How every singe ingredient worked together to form one whole. All in balance. Brewing a potion reminded her of dancing sometimes. And if there was one thing Alisha really loved, it would be dancing. She was almost constantly either thinking about new moves, or dancing around without even noticing. The latter was going on now, as she gracefully slid into the classroom, her feet making artistic movements, even while just walking. She was early. Alisha continued to the front row and dumped her stuff on the table in the middle. Potions really held her interest, and because of that, it was one of the few classes where she preferred to go sit in front. Humming quietly to herself, she began to unpack her bag and put her work-instruments and book in front of her. In the background, she could hear other students entering the room as well. She didn't really care though. Yes, someone would have to come sit next to her, which would either be one of her friends, or the unlucky last person to come in. Probably the latter, she mused, since she had been especially snappy that morning. She'd woken up with a sore foot, and had been annoyed for until it stopped hurting, which was somewhere in between her two first lessons of the day. She was glad it had only been from lying wrong during her sleep, because she wouldn't be able to sneak off to dance later if it had still hurt. She really looked forward to her minutes alone, since they had been severely reduced since all professors suddenly started giving out tests, homework and assignments. They hadn't had anything for today though, hence why she was in such a good mood right now. Still quietly humming a nice tune, Alisha waited until the professor would enter. TAGS?Lily-flower! Lily sneaked in as the final bell for the class to start rang. She had been running late because she needed to finish up the assignment due that day in class. It was that reason her friends decided to not save her a seat. There was only two left when she walked in, one next to a creepy, perverted Gryffindor boy in her grade. And a girl whom she didn't really know effect for the fact that her name was Alisha Malfoy and that their dads hated each other in school.
A sigh escaped her mouth as she made her way to the front of the room where Alisha was sitting, alone. She set her books down, and got all the stuff out she would need for the class before sitting down in the chair. Careful not to get too close to her, and break her personal bubble.
It had been a long day. Lily had snuck out of the castle late last night and flew the skies like she used to with her father. It would have been a wonderful night if she hadn't skipped her homework to do so. She thought it was worth it though. Soaring the nights sky was truly amazing sometimes. It reminded her of when her life was simple, and when she didn't attend Hogwarts.
She took a deep breath and turned to face the shy Slytherin she had never really talked to before simply because of the ancient family feud.
"Erm. Hi? I'm Lily, Lily Potter," She introduced herself in a shy voice.

I'm just gonna dance all night, I'm all messed up, I'm so outta line Stilettos and broken bottles, I'm spinning around in circlesAlisha kept sitting there quietly, lost in her thoughts, while the classroom slowly filled up. The seat next to her stayed empty though. When one of her Slytherin friends walked in, she threw Lisha an apologising look, as if to say that she was sorry to leave her there on her own. Alisha shrugged back. She knew the girl hated potions and had most likely not made the small assignment they had for today, so she could understand why she wouldn't want to sit in front. Miss Germann was less likely to make a nota about your missing work if she didn't see it. Patiently Lisha waited until the last students stumbled in. She huffed. Why were they always so late? It wasn't as it it was that long of a walk from each class to the other... They were in third year. Sure they didn't get lost any more, right? Stupid children. The final bell rang, and Alisha noticed a girl sneaking in from the corner of her eyes. The girl was seemingly trying to get in unseen. Alisha rolled her eyes. Miss Germann hadn't even entered the room yet, so why bother? Glancing around, she noticed that the girl, who she had identified as Lily Potter by now, only had choice between two more places. Alisha smirked. She wondered what the girl would pick. Her creepy looking house-mate? Or the Slytherin girl she'd never even talked to before. The girl picked the latter and approached Alisha's table. It stayed quiet while the girl unpacked her things. Even though Alisha was in a good mood today, she felt no desire to start a conversation with an absolute stranger. She was positively surprised that the girl didn't try to babble with her directly though. She'd always thought the littlest Potter had a mouth that never stood still. When she finally spoke, it was a quiet, shy and brief introduction of herself. Alisha, still feeling oddly cheery, chucked quietly and cocked one eyebrow. "I know you are. And I guess so do you." Everyone knew the Malfoy and Potter family, so there was no way Lily Potter didn't know who she was. But, since the girl had introduced herself so politely, Alisha couldn't do any less, so she added. "I'm Alisha, Alisha Malfoy. I am a third year, and in Slytherin. Nice to meet you." she winked. TAGS?Lily-flower! And brief appearance of Jamie Germann LYRICS?Dancing on my own - Robyn CREDITS? Jaimie walked into the classroom, running a little late. One of the potions from her previous classes had gone badly, and she'd had to take them to the hospital wing. She pulled her hair back from her face and walked to her desk. "Okay," she said, clearing her voice. "I'm going to pair all of you up, and you'll be working on a shrinking solution. The supplies are already out in front of you. No one," she eyed the boys suspiciously. "Touch them until I say so. Follow the directions in your books, on page 129, carefully. Do not mess around, because making the slightest mistake can turn out terribly. Now, this is going to be a months-long project for you and your partners. I'm going to be passing out journals, and each time we practice this potion, which will probably be about once or twice a week, you're going to find your partner and record each time how well you did the potion. Today will be your first entry. Put the date, and I will give you a number of how well you did. The project will continue until you and your partner reach 10." She looked over the students, pairing them up, mostly trying to keep Houses seperated, trying to get the students to meet new people. "Alisha, Lily, you're partners. Now everyone, get to work. I'll be around occasionally to see how it's going, but I will not tell you if you're doing something wrong unless it's a fatal mistake. Other groups are not to help another. Go."

Lily sighed before turning fully to Alisha. She didn't particularly hate her but she did belong to Slytherin, that meant she hate to hate her. Right? Lily never did go with the crowd though. So sighed heavily before shrugging and turning to face her.
Potions wasn't one of her strong subjects. She didn't necessarily suck at it. But preferred not doing it if she didn't have to. Alisha, on the other hand; she knew loved potions and was really good at it. Lily figured that meant an easy A. Right?
Lily didn't even want to think about what the other kids would think if she worked good with Alisha. Did Lily care though? Should she care about what others thought of her? Especially with something so trivial as her being nice to her forced upon potions partner. It wasn't like she was going to become best friends with her. Was it?
No. Don't be silly. It was just some stupid potions thing. It didn't mean they would be all buddy buddy. Did it?
Lily let out another sigh as she turned to Alisha. One thing was for sure. They had to work together.
"I'll, erm, get the cauldron ready."

I'm just gonna dance all night, I'm all messed up, I'm so outta line Stilettos and broken bottles, I'm spinning around in circlesAlisha gaped at her formally favourite teacher. Yes, you read it right, FORMALLY. How could she? Give them a MONTHS groups work on this stupid assignment? A month working with this unknown Potter girl next to her? Alisha conveniently forgot that the girl seemed quite nice to her just a few seconds ago and huffed inwardly. This bloody, fucking annoying just cost her her dance-time for tonight! They'd have to be working on it the whole evening in order to get the part they'd had to give in tomorrow. And then the rest of the month working on the rest of the project! If there was one thing Alisha hated, it would be group assignments. Not that that was the actual problem. Biting in her lip so hard that she nearly drew blood, Alisha realised that she's have to wait a long time before she would be able to sneak off and dance again. It had promised to be such a great night! And now it was all ruined! AAAGHHH!! Within her house, Alisha always had been known for her sudden changes in mood, but even her closest family should have had to admit that this one had to be one of the fastest ever. The cheery, bubbly mood that had poured out of her mere minutes ago, was now replaced by a seething, annoyed hatred towards this class, classroom and all the people in it. AARRGGHH!! 'I'll errm... get the cauldron ready'The Gryffindor girl's voice snapped her back to reality. Lily Luna Potter. Right. Her 'co-worker'... The doubt in the girl's voice annoyed Alisha to death. How the heck could she have been so bold to go and sit down next to a complete stranger, and then be so shy and all 'innocent' when they got a bloody group assignment? What the hell was this little Potter playing at? Why did she even came to sit here anyway? Potter, Malfoy? It didn't match! For conveniences sake, Alisha temporally forgot about her interest, liking and curiosity towards the girl. "Go get your fucking cauldron." she snapped quietly, minding not to let Professor Germann hear. "As long as you don't expect me to play along..." TAGS?Lily-flower! Jaimie had seen Alisha's expression after she had been paired with Lily, and she was disappointed. Alisha, even though she wasn't supposed to choose favorites, was indeed one of her favorites in the class, because of how brilliant she was. She knew about the rivalry between the two Houses, but she had hoped the two girls would be able to overcome that. She sighed, only time could tell. She walked over to the girls, resting her hands on the table and she smiled her most professor-looking smile. "Hi, girls. I hope it's no problem you two are paired up together. Being from Slytherin and Gryffindor."

Lily heard the anger in her voice when Alisha made her first remark. But the second one was hardly necessary. She felt the anger swell up at the Slytherin that she was forced to work with for who knows how long.
Her mothers anger was building up inside of her. She hated the fact that that bitch could act like that and get away with it. Surely someone should tell her that it wasn't polite. Not when the other person had no choice in being partners either. All because Lily was a tad late to class.
Lily's mouth opened, then closed again. She couldn't get herself to confront her. Stupid shy side. If only James was in this class. He would stand up to Alisha for her. Lily sighed and bit her cheek as she held back the anger boiling inside of her.
"Oh course it's not a problem, Professor" Lily lied through her teeth.
She turned to Alisha and gave her a death stare. One of the only things she would do to her. Lily knew Alisha got the message that she wasn't happy. Whether she cared or not didn't matter.
"Look. I don't want to work with you either. But we're partners, and don't have a choice in the matter. You don't need to be mean about it" Lily whispered it. Half because she was shy and half because she wanted to make sure Germann wouldn't hear her.
Lily continued to get the cauldron ready, even though she didn't even know what she was doing. Darn. She was really hoping Alisha could have helped her since she was good at potions. Oh well. It was time she learned anyway.

Jaimie smiled at Lily, not having heard what she'd whispered, but having seen her face, she also knew she wasn't pleased with her choice. "Good," she said, looking at the two girls with high expectation clear on her face and in her eyes. "If either of you have a problem, be sure to talk to me after class. Although I hope there is no problem." She looked at the two of them, her smile fading slightly. "Because you should both know how I hate people asking to switch partners." Her smile faded completely for a few seconds before she smiled again. "Anyways, good luck to you both on the assignment today. Please don't hurt yourselves or others."

I'm just gonna dance all night, I'm all messed up, I'm so outta line Stilettos and broken bottles, I'm spinning around in circlesAlisha plainly ignored professor Germann when she approached their table to ask them whether they had problems with her pairing. 'Being from Slytherin and Gryffindor', she said. Didn't she see where the real problem was? Who even cared about their partner? The problem was the work itself. Alisha really couldn't care less whether she was paired up with the red-haired Gryffindor, or with one of her Slytherin house-mates. Having to work with the Gryffindor could actually have been fun, any other time. The girl looked like she really cared about her grades. Not that she didn't have any reason to, Alisha mused, it had been quite obvious in the previous years that the littlest Potter really sucked at potions. No kidding. '... you don't need to be mean about it...' she picked up from Lily's whispering. Oh yes, the other reason why working with this girl might not be that bad. She was so nice and so shy. Oh how easy it would be to just walk over her. It's not like she could say anything. Because she needed her. Lily needed Alisha, she was sure of that. There was no way in hell that the girl would ever be able to brew the potion on her own. The only problem was that she cared about school too much, and would probably nag to continue working a lot. Alisha's Slytherin friends already knew better than to nag when she wanted to go out... That would probably be the big difference... "I'm not mean, Potter. I just don't let people walk over me..." Alisha hissed back. "It's not because you like being a teacher's pet, I have to try and be one myself..." This was, of course, not a fair point to stab the other girl on, since Alisha was a bit of a teacher's pet herself. She was mostly polite to their faces and even when she snapped, the teachers mostly blamed it on her upbringing. Alisha came across as an intelligent, calm girl that was dedicated to what she did and wasn't likely to follow into the prejudiced feet of her grandfather. She also seemed to have this pitiful look over her, partially caused by her large greenish-blue eyes and long blonde hair, and partially by the fact that she was really petite, a bit too slim even, which made her appearance look vulnerable. Alisha had used her appearance to her advantage more than once in the past. When the professor told them to come to her with complains about the pairing after class, Alisha snorted quietly. They had to start on their potion now, so there was not way they could be re-paired when class was over! Germann seemed to be really confident about them not wanting to change partners! She watched carefully as her usually so bubbly and happy potions teacher lost her smile completely for a second. Wait... was that a tread? Her hoping that there would be no problems, because she hated to switch people? It surely sounded as one. Alisha narrowed her eyes, but couldn't suppress the small smile sliding on her face anyway. Seems like the gentle teacher wasn't as naïve as she seemed... It might be a weird thought, but on that very moment, Alisha was secretly proud on her favourite teacher... TAGS?Lily-flower! Jaimie saw Alisha smile and felt a bit reassured about them working together. "Happy about something, Miss Malfoy?" she asked, tilting her head slightly and smiling. In truth, Jaimie was wondering what the two girls would think about the bigger group assignment she was going to give at the end of class, but shrugged it off. A big thing in her class was getting to know people outside your House and group of friends, which was exactly why she'd paired up Lily and Alisha.

Lily wanted more than anything to break out of the shell she forced herself into, but thought better of it. When she finally broke out of it, she didn't want it to be a scream fest with a nasty Slytherin girl that didn't like her. She ignored the walking over her comment Alisha made and addressed the next one.
"I'm not a teachers pet, it's called being nice. You should really try it sometime." For a Gryffindor, Lily could act very cold at times. She never fully stood up for herself, but made little side comments that got her point across.
Lily didn't want to delay the time they had to make the potion any longer. So she gathered the slugs, and began to cut them. She didn't want any trouble with Alisha, she just wanted to make the potion and be done with. That was it. She didn't understand why Alisha had to make such a big deal about making a potion during class. It wasn't as if Lily was totally incompetent and didn't know anything. Potions may not be her strong subject, but it wasn't her worst. Lily simply thought that maybe being Alisha's partner would help her in that department. Not the other way around. At this rate, they wouldn't have time to make a potion to turn in.
"Can we get started now? I really don't want to fail at something just because my partner doesn't want to work with me. All because of a house rivalry." Lily glared at Alisha as she said this, and continued to cut up the slugs.

I'm just gonna dance all night, I'm all messed up, I'm so outta line Stilettos and broken bottles, I'm spinning around in circles"Not specifically" Alisha replied to Miss Germann's question. She'd actually preferred if if the teacher would finally leave them alone. If she wanted a potion, then maybe she should stop distracting her students and actually let them work on it? Sighing, Alisha put her attention on the youngest Potter again, just in time to hear her witty reply on Alisha's previous stab. She raised one of her eyebrows mockingly. "Really?" she pondered. "I had no idea it was called that...Maybe I should try it once...". She pretended to consider it... "Hmmm... Nope. Too much of an effort." Alisha found that riling up the Potter girl had her amused way more than she would have expected. Her mood had noticeably improved since five minutes ago. And anyway, the girl was right. They'd really had to get working on their potion now if they wanted to be able to hand in something at the end of the class. Decided to ignore Lily from now on, as well as Germann, if she popped up again, Alisha studied the guidelines on the blackboard. It appeared as if Lily was already cutting the slugs. Alisha bit her lip thoughtfully and read the rest of the recipe. The most important part of the slug was the fluid that was supposed to come out of it while boiling it. the way the girl was chopping on the slugs now, was almost sure not to leave any fluid in them anymore. Of course, Lily was perfectly following the instructions, but Alisha’s natural instinct when it came to potions told her do to something else entirely. “Slice them.” she ordered quietly. “You have to make longitudinal sections.” Without checking whether the other girl was looking or now, Alisha grabbed a couple of slugs, her knife and started slicing them from their ‘head’ down to their ‘tail’ meticulously, careful not to let any fluid escape. Lily was going to say something to Alisha's comment but decided against it as her shyness once again showed up. She really hated it sometimes. Not being able to really say what she was thinking at certain times. It really sucked. Sometimes she just wanted to shout out what she was truly thinking instead of hiding it in, but her mind was shouting at her. Telling her no; that so many things could go wrong if she did. So she shut her mouth instead. Letting her think she won.
Lily just continued to cut the slugs, until she heard Alisha finally say something halfway decent. Even though what she said went against the book. Should Lily listen to her? Was she just trying to sabotage the potion? Would she do that even though it was the potion she had to turn in as well? Lily didn't think it was likely. She watched as Alisha grabbed some slugs and demonstrated what she had just told her. She watched in amazement as no liquid escaped. That must mean it's still in there... it would be easier to get the liquid into the cauldron.
Lily mentally shook her head and continued to cut the slugs. This time cutting them the way Alisha instructed. Then she continued to get the ingredients ready for the potion. Mincing the Daisy roots carefully, hoping this time she was doing it right. She didn't want to make a habit of relying on Alisha for the potion. Especially since it seemed Alisha and Lily would never truly be friends at all.
Curse the Slytherin and Gryffindor rivalry. They were probably getting tons of dirty looks by now from the rest of the class. Because they were partnered together. It didn't matter that neither of them wanted to be. They were and that was all the rest of the class cared about.
