On the Run [Chase, James]

Ceil didn't know why he decided to run from him. He didn't know what else to do. It wasn't like he meant to set the Unicorns free and cause them to run loose and maybe possibly hurt Chase in the process because he couldn't catch them. Ceil just wanted to pet the unicorns! He didn't know they'd freak out on him because he was a guy and caused Ceil to scream and running, leaving the gate open.

So he ran and ran until he reached the sixth floor, he found an empty classroom and ducked inside it, hoping he had lost Chase and would be able to hide in here until maybe he calmed down. Ceil was starting to think it was a bad idea that him and Rin came to Hogwarts with James a year early. He was too young to be able to run around on his own in an entire castle. It was a very bad idea.

Chase was out of breath and his heart was racing. he was angry. His unicorns had been released and he was trampled in the process. his body was aching all over and he was chasing the culprit. The child that Jaminson Redpaw had brought to this school, even though it wasn't his time to go to Hogwarts yet. Chase couldn't believe the headmaster agreed to it, but he supposed it was because their adoptive parents lived in America. If they didn't come here, then they would have to stay by themselves at the Leaky Cauldron.

It still didn't make sense to Chase why James seem to like take in the twins as if they were his own. And he did look strangely like the boy. It was almost uncanny. Either way he was going to kill Redpaw for not keeping a closer eye on the boy. Letting him roam free whenever he wanted to, letting Unicorns free without even having permission to be by the unicorns. Then running from Chase like a cat and a mouse. It was ridiculous!

Chase got to the Sixth floor, where he was pretty sure Ceil was. He looked in a couple rooms before getting to the empty classroom and looking in. There he was. Ceil was standing there, looking at Chase with wide open eyes and a fear ful look on his face. Rightfully so, too.

"You!" Chase yelled.

James had been planning to take a nice walk with Redwall but was greeted by panicked unicorns and Chase Jackson chasing after Ciel, his son. James was quite confused by the scene but decided to take care of the unicorns first before finding out what happened between the unicorns, his son and the Care of Magical Creatures professor.

"Well, I guess I should cast a light cheering charm to calm 'em down then herd them back into the pen." James murmured his plan before picking up his wand to calm down the herd and put them back where they belonged.

"Good. Now to chase after Ciel and Mr. Jackson." James thought while running to where the two people ran off to.

It took James awhile to track them down to one of the empty classrooms on the 6th floor with a badger cub in his arms but he did it.

"Woah! Wait a minute." James tried to calm down his angry colleague "What the hell just happened?"

Ceil was about to take off running again, somehow he was going to try to get away from Chase, even though he was cornered in the room. Before he could run, however the door opened again, this time it was probably the only person he was happy to see. James. Ceil sighed a breath of relief before running right past Chase and to James. Hugging his leg tight in hopes that James would protect him.

"Save me! He's going to hurt me!" Ceil looked up at James, but didn't let go of his leg, he couldn't. He was too afraid. he didn't mean to let the unicorns out, but he did and now Chase was going to murder him. He would never get to be a proper student at Hogwarts. Rin would be on her own, she wouldn't make it in life without him!

His only hope was if James could protect him from Chase... but at this point Chase seemed mad enough to kill the both of them.

Chase was seething when Redpaw came into the classroom. He tried to grab Ceil as he ran past him and toward the History of Magic professor. He couldn't believe that James just let that little demon child run up to him like that! He didn't even know what he had done!

"That little demon child decided to let my unicorns run free, and they ran me over!! Then he didn't even explain himself or apologize! He ran from me! I wasn't under the impression that this kid was brought here to cause chaos, Redpaw."

Chase was pissed, he knew it. He knew he tended to overreact when he was mad, but this was ridiculous. Chase wouldn't have gotten as mad if Ceil didn't run instead of staying there and helping him round up the unicorns and such. But the way he acted was completely childish. It was the reason kids weren't allowed at Hogwarts before age 11! There were too many things little kids could get into at Hogwarts!

"For Merlin's sake, no one is going to hurt anyone!" James almost screamed, getting slightly annoyed that someone wanted to hurt his son "Calm down Professor Jackson so we can get this matter settled and no one gets hurt or fired. First of all, put yourself into Ciel's shoes. You're a young kid and suddenly you're surrounded by panicking unicorns and an angry teacher. Wouldn't you run? When our bodies encounter a dangerous situation, it either goes into fight or flight mode and it's extremely hard to override the body respons. Secondly, everyone we bring in here to Hogwarts is actually here to bring chaos. There's not one kid in all the history of Hogwarts that hasn't stirred up some form of chaos. Think about it. Lastly, don't worry about the unicorns escaping as I already captured them and penned them in. Also, are you okay?"

Ceil just stayed there, extremely scared. He watched James become rather angry but he never let go of his leg. He knew the angry James had was aimed at Chase. At least, Ceil hoped it was. He didn't know what he would do if he had to attempt to outrun two fully grown wizards instead of just one.

Ceil listened as James told Chase off. Asking him what he would have done if he were in Ceil's shoes. It was a good question, but Ceil didn't think it would work on Chase. He was just too mad right now. Ceil would be lucky if he made it out of there alive. But James would protect him, right...

"I really am sorry, Professor Chase. I didn't mean to let the Unicorns loose... I got scared!" Ceil confessed in a small voice, still not letting go of James's leg.

"FIRED?" Chase was going to blow up, he could tell he was. This pathetic excuse for a professor had pushed his last nerve. "If anything, you're going to get fired!"

Chase's breath became rapid and his hands began to shake, something that always happened when he was beyond pissed off.

"This kid isn't even a student here at Hogwarts. So don't compare him to one. And stop talking to me like I'm a bloody child! I'm not! I know what the Flight or Fight process is! I don't need it to be explained to me."

Chase ran his hand through his hair, something he picked up from Brent. Although while Brent did it for his nerves, Chase did it when he was pissed.

"I don't bloody care about the bloody Unicorns!! Well. I do. But not now! And what do you think! I was RUN OVER by a HERD OF UNICORNS. How do you think I am?" Chase wanted to just punch him. He was surprised he ended up saying bloody instead of fucking. Him and Brent had grown accustomed to saying Fuck instead of Bloody. To them it was a better swear word. Even though they probably meant the same thing. Oh well.

He glared at Redpaw, thinking about all the ways he could hurt him. Chase did have quite the temper.

James took a deep breath and somehow pried Ciel off his leg and sat down on the floor, his back leaning against the stone wall, trying to calm down. Even though he was generally extremely patient and never really upset, James would become very protective about matters concerning his close friends or family (not including his mom of course).

"Then why don't you go to Maryn in the Infirmary to get yourself healed instead of chasing after my s-.... student?" James asked Chase, voice low and dangerous.

He had almost called Ciel his son but quickly covered it up, hoping that no one would think about it too much or it's be a horrible mistake on his part.

"You okay kiddo?" James whispered to his son concernedly "You didn't get hurt or anything?"

Ceil didn't want to be taken off of James' leg. He felt safe there, and he didn't feel safe anywhere else. Ceil was surprised when he went and sat down. Ceil had grown used to James doing weird things. He often found them interesting and humorous.

"Yeah. I'm fine. I didn't get hurt or anything. I was just really scared, James." Ceil's face showed that he was indeed scared, but it also showed that he was sorry. That he didn't mean for anything bad to happen. All he wanted to do was pet the Unicorns. He didn't want to have to wait till he was a student and got to take the class. That would mean he couldn't until he was third year. He didn't know the unicorns would freak out and scare him.

"I'm just... I'm sorry." Ceil said with a sad voice, tears close to eyes. He never wanted to cause harm.

Chase laughed cruelly. Redpaw would suggest going to Maryn. Like hell he was.

"I'll go to Maryn for help when I'm dead." He probably shouldn't have said it, but it was true. Chase had never seen Maryn for anything for as long as he taught at Hogwarts. He would always apparate to Hunter's flat or office in St. Mungo's for help. He'd do that now if he had to, but Chase figured that he only had a few cuts and bruises. Nothing too life threatening.

Chase heard the pause in Redpaw's sentence. Saw his lips form the word son before they changed to student. It clicked with Chase almost immediately. Why Redpaw was so protective of Ceil and Rin. Why they were staying here at Hogwarts with him before they were old enough to attend the school. Why Ceil and James looked so much alike. Chase knew that Redpaw had been married before and that the wife died. It wouldn't be too far of a stretch that they would have had kids. Twins, none the less. Chase's face formed an evil smirk.

"Hiding a huge secret, are we, Redpaw?"
