Belaya quietly entered the Owlery in her old, yet comfy sweatpants and a loose t-shirt with a badger on it. She also had no shoes making it easier to quickly walk the halls without waking up anyone. Belaya always had trouble sleeping on the night before her birthday and had always just stared up at the black, midnight sky until the sun started to rise.
"Hey girl! How are you doing now?" Belaya asked a young, handsome Great Grey owl.
She had found that owl 2 days ago malnourished and hurt. Apparently its owner had beat it and left it to die but happily enough Belaya found it and was now taking care of it. The owl (who she decided to call Star) was very thin when she found her and a broken leg and wing but was healing rapidly. Though Star was still very thin and it would still take her a long time to get back into a normal feeding habit and trust humans. Belaya knew what it was like and she hoped the owl would heal better than her.
Belaya did a quick check-up of Star making sure she had eaten enough, her beautiful golden eyes were bright and healthy and that her wing and leg were still healing. When she was satisfied with the owl's health she walked over to an open window and stuck her head out then happily breathed in the fresh night air.
"Ahhh... Nothing beats the sky at 11:23 p.m." Belaya said to herself with a grin while looking up at the sky.
Belaya really hoped nothing would disturb her peace since she liked being by herself at this time. The last time she got disturbed when she was like this was... painful. Then the last time she was with someone she loved during her birthday was her last time.

When the adult came in Belaya tensed and couldn't help but growl defensively and glare at the intruder even after she heard the adult speak kindly and softly. Belaya looked like a defenseless, cornered animal; strong and intimidating at first glance but if you looked closely you could see fear and hurt in its eyes.
"Thank you." Belaya growled stiffly and stared at the adult defensively; never taking an eye off of the intruder.
Normally, she wouldn't act so cold and defensive to anyone but she was having a bout of paranoia. An adult disturbing her peace almost always remind her of her parents but it got worse on certain days and, on those days, she felt like the disturber would hurt her, no matter who they would be. After 9 years of living with abusive parents and 4 more years of living on the streets, who could blame her?
After a few minutes of tense silence Belaya got some parchment, ink and a quill from a small, secret compartment underneath one of the owl's nest and went to the windowsill to start writing; never keeping an eye off of the adult.
During this, Belaya never noticed a white wolf dog with black ears silently walking towards them...

The wolfdog silently walked towards Belaya until he was 3 feet away from her before crouching down. The wolfdog repositioned his paws so that his crouch was perfectly balanced. He then tensed and tackled Belaya with a viscous yet playful growl.
Belaya was peacefully writing her letter when a giant, furry figure knocked the wind out of her. She quickly flipped the attacker but he only tackled her once again. The two of them wrestled for awhile until Belaya finally managed to pin down the wolfdog and saw that it was her pet, Glamoura. She sighed a bit before putting putting some pressure on his neck and growled dominantly at him. Glamoura quickly respond by flattening his ears, tucking his tail between his legs, looking away from his master and whimpering submissively. Belaya quickly let go of her pet and continued to write her letter while Glamoura lay next to her.
Anyone who saw what happened might be a little shocked that Belaya used dominance tactics based off of wolf rules but she had to. Glamoura is a wolfdog and he was more wolf than dog so it was just in his nature. Belaya knew that too so she gladly used wolf rules to help fit him better. It really wasn't a matter of her controlling Glamoura it was what's best for their relationship.
"Thanks Glamoura." she said praisingly to her pet.
Apparently the play fight helped clear her mind and knock out some paranoia she just had. "McKinney? Professor McKinney's wife? Huh..."
"Sorry for the treatment earlier Madam McKinney I was just.... a bit paranoid." she said with a small, sorry smile "My name is Belaya Drocellmeyer and this wolfdog is Glamoura."

Belaya just nodded and smiled as the matron rambled sentence after sentence before replying. "Oh great. She's crazy..." she thought to herself.
"The dark night isn't to blame for my paranoia. And I do agree that wolfdogs and the name Glamoura is beautiful. Also, I'm not too fond of toads or frogs..." she replied awkwardly.
She then returned to her parchment to write her letter and began mumbling out what she wrote in spite of herself.
"Dear Jay,
Happy birthday! I think it's our 16th birthday today. Or is it our 15th? I dunno. We stopped keeping track 7 years ago, if I remember correctly. Anyway, how are you? I'm doing fine, I guess. Glamoura is strong and healthy and he says grwoof. I hope your grave is clean! I don't want it to be covered in leaves and snow all year. Hopefully someone will clean it so you don't have to wait for me to clean it.
Another thing, I'll be sending you flowers soon so just you wait! I can't tell you what kind or that'll ruin the fun in it, right? Going on, I hope you're okay and doing well wherever you are. One more thing, I hope that you've forgiven me for everything. I'll learn the cure for Pneumonia and I'll give you some when I make it!
Your sister, Belaya Volkchik Drocellmeyer"

Maryn sighed, instantly recgonising Brent's handwriting. "Brent Zachary McKinney..." she growled loudly, beginning to write back on the blank side of the parchment. Dear 'Ribbity II' When I return to my office, I hope to find you there or I will have to go and hunt down whoever stole you because they are in big trouble.
'Mother'
PS Brent, give me my toad back unless you want a divorce.Maryn gave the now folded up note to a nearby owl; very annoyed at her husband. She would go and find Ribbity II now but decided that she would probably wake the whole castle if she did, so stayed where she was.[/ul]

Belaya quickly finished her letter as she heard Mrs. McKinney angrily growl out the name of her husband. "I wonder why she's mad at him." she thought thoughtfully. As she turned to bring her letter to an owl when she saw the matron handing her letter to Belaya's injured Great Grey owl.
"Umm... Matron McKinney? That owl you're trying to use right now is injured. Also, I suggest you step away from it, slowly." she informed Maryn. Belaya was pretty concerned that the matron might provoke Star too much and would end up with the both of them hurt and Belaya in an awkward situation.
She then walked towards a strong Barn owl, while catiously watching Star and Maryn, and handed him her letter. "Please place this letter on Jay Drocellmeyer's grave. Thank you my dear." she thanked the owl as it flew off into the sky, where you could see the sun starting to rise.
Belaya never realized she had stayed there for so long and she stared out into the sky, basking in the little light there was.
"Well, happy birthday to us..." she said a bit too loudly with a sad, bittersweet sigh.

Maryn ignored the much kinder half of her conscience and mentally scolded herself. It was a stupid mistake. But she couldn't afford to make any mistake with her job. Maryn dreaded to think of what would happen if she did something similar with one of the students... Like Belaya, Maryn found a different owl and gave him her note. "Take that to Brent McKinney, please. And you can give him a lovely, big bite if you want to." she smiled wickedly. Then Maryn looked at Belaya. From what she had said, Maryn had realised that Belaya shared a birthday with a deseased family member. "Happy birthday, sweetheart." Maryn said with a small smile, standing beside the Hufflepuff.[/ul]

"Thanks..." Belaya responded sadly.
Belaya realized she had to go soon as her room mates would soon wake up. She started to get ready to go but stopped as curiousity overtook her. "Why is Matron McKinney mad at her husband?" she thought again.
"Matron, why are you upset at your husband?" she asked calmly.
Glamoura also looked up at the matron, curious. He also wanted to know. After all, he didn't really trust Belaya's professor and would take part in any activity that included knowing more about Brent McKinney.
(OOC: Sorry that it's short. I'm kinda rushing at the moment... I'll probably close up this thread after the next 2-4 posts.)

"Huh... Poor thing. I would help but I should sleep and stuff..." she empathized with Maryn's situation but she was a bit too busy to help "But I'm pretty sure Glamoura could help out with your problem. He doesn't like your husband too much and he would pretty much do anything involving Professor McKinney. Not to mention, he has really good tracking skills."
Glamoura proudly stood up and held his head up high at the mention of his name.
"See what I mean..." Belaya said with an exhausted sigh "Oh stop showing off Glamoura. Anyway, he'll do anything you ask of him and I'll tell him to behave so if you want to use him go straight ahead."

Belaya nodded and gave the matron a smile.
"Okay. I'll probably be at the lake tomorrow after breakfast so we can meet there. Good night matron." she replied quickly.
Belaya looked out the open window and gazed at the beautiful, orange-y sky rising before her. After just gazing into space for a few minutes, she said bye to the owls and left the Owlery, Glamoura following right behind.
