It was only a few days after Christmas. She was up in the owlery addressing another letter to her mother. She had taken quite a few pictures of her, with her iced expression on her face. There was one that did not make it into the letter instead it had tears sliding down her face. She did want at least one of them to write to say that they loved her. She had changed her hair and her style for them. The least they could do was to show it.
She looked at the picture and no matter how many times she tried to rip it, it was who she was. She picked up the photo and stuck it into her back pocket. Out of sight out of mind. She pushed the other pictures into the letter, and was about to send it off when Gerbit seemed to pick something or someone up in her eye sight. She tensed. "Whoever you are, get the bloody hell out of here!" She shouted. Alexandria was indeed not in the mood to be messed with.

Mack had decided to send a letter to his little sister. He had ordered her Christmas gift from a catalog and therefore didn't get to write her a letter other than 'Merry Christmas from, Mack'. So he spent most of the morning writing out a letter for her. He enjoyed writing to his sister. It was the one thing he missed the most when he went off to Hogwarts.
He had barely entered the Owlery when he heard a voice tell him to get the hell out of there. There was no way he was going to let some random girl tell him he couldn't send a letter to his little sister. That just wasn't going to happen.
"Excuse me. But last time I checked, I had every right to be here to send my letter. I'm not going to let you tell me I can't."
Mack threw a glare in her direction. She was by the window with an owl and a letter. Clearly about to send one off. Mack didn't see the big deal with him being there to send a letter. She was clearly just about done and was probably going to leave after that.
Mack walked in all the way and whistled loudly to get Mittens to come down so he could send the letter. He wasn't leaving until he sent his letter.

Her eyes glanced over at him now. The boy had to be a bit older then the young slytherin. "I did not asl for your rebuttal. Clearly you think I care that you are out here trying to send a letter." She hissed at hiim. " I want prvacy and you are barging in on it." She huffed out.
Dria was not in the mood to let anyone close at least not at this time. Dria wanted her space and that meant she wanted this bozo to leave. "You should respect that I was here first and I do not want you here barging on me." She glared at him now. Alexandria clearly wanted to drive the point home. She wanted him to leave. "Why the bloody hell write when they don't respond back." She assumed that everyone's parents were the same that they all did not know how to show love.

Mack didn't know who this chick was, but she was really starting to piss him off, and it wasn't good when you pissed Mack off.
"Privacy? What Privacy? It's not like you're fuckin writing the letter here!!! It's already written and sealed! All you have to do is tie it to that Owl and send it off." Mack's face turned to one of clear disgust.
She might not want him there, but she had no reason to say that who he was writing to wouldn't even respond back. It wasn't her place to say that. And it was so not true.
"Even though it's not your business, thank you very much. Who I am writing to will reply to me. And if she doesn't. It's not like it's important. It's just a Christmas greeting. But I'm rather close to my little sister, so you can just back off. I don't send a letter to get a response. I send it because I love her and want her to know I'm okay."
Mack didn't go there for a fight, but he wasn't just going to leave. He was going to send that letter, and if that meant he had to fight her to do so, then so be it. He would.
Mittens flew down and landed on his shoulder, but he didn't move to send the letter yet. The window to do so was by her anyways, and he couldn't get to it yet.

Dria looked at Mack now, she was even more pissed off then usual. She was pushing other people's buttons. In fact she was doing it so she would get what she wanted. She wanted someone to show remotely some kind of emotion to her, even if it was anger.
"I can do what ever I bloody hell please, I do not have to please you, if I wanted to write the bloody letter up here I would have done so." She glared at him. She also felt like maybe she should not have sent the first one in the first place.
"Lucky you." She said with a bit of a disgust. "No one cares enough to do that." Maybe it was the lack of emotion in her voice. Maybe it was him pushing at her. Alexandria was starting to break a little bit each day. She slowly rested on her owl's head, as she brushed its feathers in her hands. She whispered to it. "Take this to 'father.' She told it. Maybe perhaps he would care enough to look at it.
"I love them, but.." She rolled her eyes. How do you tell someone that you do not know, that your father basically did not love you.
She watched as Gerbit left out of the window. "Send your damn letter." She hissed out at him.

Mack saw the girls face change from a couple different emotions. He had taken to reading emotions quite often. It was easier than asking what they were thinking, when he didn't really want to get in a long conversation with someone.
Mack saw that she sort of... thought about what she was doing. He didn't think she felt bad for it, just realized that she was freaking out. Hopefully she knew it was stupid of her.
"I'm sure there is someone out there that loves enough to reply back," Mack didn't want too start being nice all of a sudden, but he couldn't deny that he felt sorry for her. It seemed to him that whoever she was writing to, which he had a feeling were her parents, didn't care enough to write back.
"Listen, I'm sorry about whoever you're writing to. I'm sorry they don't write back. But being a bitch isn't the answer," Mack tried to soften his tone a bit, but he had a feeling the coldness still leaked through.
"Thanks. I think. Even though I was always going to send my letter," He rolled his eyes as he said the last part and began to tie the letter to Mitten's leg.

"Toughen yourself up, you pathetic girl. Stop telling him anything. He does not need to know anything about how your feeling.' She told herself. She was actually hard on herself for one reason only. To make her feelings like ice. To not show any emotion especially when it came to how she felt.
"Now you have done it you stupid girl, he thinks your parents do not love you enough to write to you. How stupid can you be?" She scolded once more. She was about to say something but Mack gave her a reassuring look.
"I never said they did not write back." She hissed. Okay it was the wrong answer because she told him that they pretty much did not. She just wanted to defend them.
She rolled her eyes slightly as she continued to watch Gerbit flying towards her house. It was hard being a daughter of the one person no one thought should have kids.

Mack could tell that the girl was mentally cursing herself. And if she was like Mack, it was because she told him to much about herself. Probably the part about her parents.... most people wouldn't want to divulge that to someone she didn't even know. Her comment about not saying they wrote back confirmed his thoughts. He was going to blow up again at her. But he decided to try a different route.
"Look. I know you probably hate the fact that you just told someone you just met something you might not even have wanted to tell your friends. But you don't need to worry. I won't tell anyone. And I won't go laughing about it." He didn't know if it would make any difference what he said. Because she would still feel vulnerable and stupid for saying it in the first place. But it was worth a try in his mind.
"I'm Mackenzie, by the way. In case you cared. Most of my friends call me Mack, though." He decided the least he could do was introduce himself.

Alexandria tried to remain with an iced blank expression on her face. She was doing her best to not break down in tears in front of anyone. Being a Malfoy was for sure the hardest thing one could ever endure. Especially with how your family treated you. She was a bit of her father's child, but yet her father treated her like she almost did not exist or he was always disappointed in her.
"I do not talk to anyone, I do not have enough time too." Then again she did have time. She just choose to treat others like she was superior to them. It was how all Malfoy's were used to acting. There were moments where she wished that Lucius was around, simply because he had a way of making her laugh.
"Alexandria, I usually go by Alex or Dria." She said with a shrug. "I assume your in Ravenclaw by your robes, and I am sure you know I am a Slytherin by mine." She said with a shrug.
"The friends I have usually will call me Dria if I let them."

Mack could tell that Alexandria was trying to hide all of her emotions from him. It seemed like what he had said didn't help. But he really didn't expect it to. He wouldn't listen to a random person he met in the Owlery right after having a screaming match with.
Mack recognized her from somewhere... Now that he knew her first name. She was a Slytherin though, he rarely talked to any snakes. And it clicked with him almost instantly while he thought about it.
"You're a Malfoy. Aren't you?" Mack didn't know if he should ask that or not. Most people didn't like any Malfoy. Because of their reputation. But personally Mack didn't care. It wasn't fair to judge someone just on their last name like that. He decided not to just say that and nothing else.
"I like the name Alexandria. It's pretty. I've never heard anyone shorten it to Dria before. It's.. different. But cool." Mack didn't really know what to say to Dria. So he said the first thing that came to his mind. Even though it might have sounded kind of lame.

Dria looked at him once more for a moment. She was not sure about telling all of her emotions to him. She did not feel that he could help her in anyway. In fact it was pointless to talk to anyone about her family. It was a complete waste of time.
She rolled her eyes. Malfoy, Her father's name rang out over as she looked at him. "I am, I guess." She said with a shrug. Was she really a Malfoy, or was she just some pretty little face that her father kept around when and if it benefited him.
"If they claim me." She shrugged. She really did not think they loved her anymore. It was hard.
"Thanks, It is different I guess." Dria blushed slightly. Why was she letting this young man play with her head. Dria looked away for a moment. "I really don't have anything else to say." She said softly.

Mack felt guit for bringing her name into the conversation when she was so clearly talking about her parents.when she talked about the letter. He felt sorry for her, but he wasn't about to say that. He was just going to move on with the conversation.
Mack cracked a.smile when Dria blushed, he didn't know why but he felt sometuing good about that, like it was something rare.
"Don't worry, I'm bad when I first meet people too. But, we don't have to make this awkward or anything." Brent mesnt what he said, even if it sounded completely weird. Like he saod, he really wasn't good at this kind of stuff. Meeting new people, talking to pretty girls. None of it. Wait, did he just call her pretty? He supposed she was pretty... in her own way.
Mack didn't know if it was his mind playing tricks or if she was actually getting more friendly. Or, at least she wasn't being a bitch to him. He gave her a smile, without even realizing it at first but keeping it there. To show her there wasn't anything to he afraid of.

Dria's heart was trying to remain hard as stone. She wasn't truthfully this way. She was hurting and was trying her best to keep it hidden. To shove it further down her throat. This boy, this older man was not worth her time right?
Why were her cheeks getting so damn hot? Why was she blushing, my magic! She shook her head as she felt her cheeks. It was hard, to hide her feelings right then. What was that feeling, love, wait, was she in love with a random stranger? NO, No, Alexandria your not. Do you ever want your stupid father to love you?
"I am not bad at meeting someone, I am just bad at making small talk, Father says small talk is a complete waste of time." She said quoting what her father had told her several times.
Wait was that a smile? Dria was confused. She could feel a small smile form when his did. Though she was shocked. 'Dria get a hold of yourself, he isn't a full wizard, your dad will disown you.' She smirked. Too late. It was already at that point of disowning. She was not in her family anymore. She knew that for sure now.

Mack smiled a crooked smile at Dria when he saw he cheeks get red. It was extremely visible with her pale skin, but he thought it made her look even more beautiful. Maybe it was because being embarrassed was an emotion other than the extreme coldness Mack had felt since the moment he walked into the room. Obviously he knew she had other emotions, he just didn't think he'd be able to see them.
"Small talk isn't a waste of time. It's the small talk that leads to the big talk. The talking of friends. The talking of any two people, really. Small talk is important."
Mack kept the smile on his face the entire time. He had learned throughout his years of talking and meeting people that smiling let them open up. To not be afraid, to even trust sooner. He could tell Dria needed someone in her life she could trust. And he was going to find a way for that to be him.

Dria looked away, she needed to or she was sure that her cheeks would just continue to glow in her pale skin. 'Dria you stupid girl, he is a muggleborn, a mudblood, he has filthy blood, stop falling for him!' She tensed up a little bit as she thought about this. It was to late. She was falling for him. Maybe it was because he could actually show her the least bit of love. Which was what she wanted all along. Someone to love her. To not ask her to change anything about herself. That they would understand her.
'Alexandria Malfoy, your small talk is a waste of time, keep your mouth shut unless you have something good to say. I don't want to hear you speak for the next five minutes.' She shook her head as she thought about her parents.
"For someone like yourself maybe? But for those like my family, small talk leads to you getting a nasty owl letter, scolding you for what you've done.." She spoke rather quickly. "Small talk, usually is not common in the Malfoy household." She told him. "In fact I don't remember the last sane, and sweet conversation I had with any one of my family members." Scorpious hated her, and her baby sister. Well that was another thing. She was the favorite of the family. Everyone, loved her.
