Mack's heart sank when she looked away from him. He didn't know why, though. Maybe he thought that he was finally getting through to her. Finally breaking the shell around her a bit. Maybe not... maybe. He could fully tell why she had turned away, all he knew was that he wanted her to look at him, so that he could look at her.
Then when she told him about her family, how none of the conversations were ever pleasant. He wanted to reach out and hug her tight, he didn't know why. He had just met her, surely those weren't natural feelings toward someone he just met...
"I'm sorry. It would be horrible to belong to a family that wasn't loving, wasn't caring. It wouldn't feel like a family." Mack told her the truth. He took a couple steps toward her, slowly. With his hand outreached toward her at first but he decided that wasn't a good idea and put it back at his side. He didn't want to make her feel uncomfortable. Actually, he wanted the opposite. He wanted her to trust him.

Alexandria had been beating herself up within her mind. Yelling at herself, rebuking herself. Disciplining herself so that her father would not say a word to her about the relationship. It just did not make sense for a Malfoy to be with a Mudblood. It did not make any sense at all. But yet, to hear his voice. How he was talking to her, he talked, civil like he was someone to be trusted. Like she could really love him.
She put her arm around herself for a moment, as she dug her finger nail into her skin. She was wanting to keep herself tough. To keep herself sane. Why was it so hard to not fall in love with someone who was wrong for her? Why could she not say NO!
He would not understand. He could not understand how she felt in her family. How she felt torn, confused, ignored..
"Talking to the kettle there." She said with a soft nod. "It's not a life I would wish on someone else." She stated. Her father had enough hard time showing his emotions, because he didn't show them well neither did she.
"It would be better if I was the favorite one, Scorpious is Draco's son. The only son. The one I think Draco would have been better with, if he was the only one born." She paused, Why were the words coming out like vomit! "And me, well lets just pretend I don't exist." She stated. "Alisha, is the one who gets all the attention. I swear she is Draco's favorite." She paused. It did not matter for her. It really did not. She would never be anyone's favorite. "But one must not dwell on the downside of things, or else one will never amount to a thing." Dria sort of shrugged it off.

Macks eyebrows burrowed a bit when she grabbed herself and dug her nails it. It was like she was in pain, and Mack didn't like that. He didn't understand it though. How could this one girl make him feel so many different things that he normally didn't feel. Mack was normally cold, and cruel. Not trying to help people. It wasn't like him. Yet he thought he would do anything to help Dria.
Mack feel so bad for Dria as she told him what it was like for her. He would never tell her that, though. Because it was probably not what she would want to hear. She probably didn't even want to explain to him about her life. Yet she did. And that was a plus.
"I don't want to pretend like you don't exist." It was all Mack decided to say. But he thought it was good enough. He didn't know what to tell her anymore. He could tell that her life was hard, that she probably hated it. That that was the reason she was so cold to people. So mean to people. He couldn't blame her. He would be too if he were in her shoes.

Alexandria looked at him and then listened to Mack. She was sort of surprised. He was treating her like he actual cared for her. "I wait, you just said what I think you said." She asked in an almost shocked look. There was no way that this guy should like her. She was absolutely mean to him right?
"I mean why would you care, you don't even know me, I'm sure you want nothing to do with me." She said sharply. "I'm not a very nice person, neither is the rest of the Malfoy family." She told him. "You are wasting your time with me." She spoke rather quickly. There was just to much on her mind.

Mack smiled at Dria as she kind of stumbled over the fact that she didn't think she heard him right. Truthfully, Mack didn't know why he said it. But he did and he didn't regret it.
"You heard me right, Dria. I don't know what it is about you. But I don't believe that you've like the rest of the people in your family. I think you're different. And in a good way."
Mack smiled and walked a bit toward Dria, slowly. As to show that he wasn't afraid of her. Wasn't afraid of who her family was.
"There is something about you, Dria. And I don't know what it is yet, but I'm determined to find out. You're not a waste of time. Not to me at least. So don't even think you are."
Mack didn't know why he was saying these things but he didn't regret a word of it. He was determined to show Dria that there were other people out there. Other people than the ones that she was used to.

Dria looked towards him, she was trying her best to make sure she held the tears at by. It was hard for her to admit weakness, to admit defeat. She just could not do it. She had to be her father's perfect daughter. The one who found a pureblood to get married to. The one who had perfect grades, did everything perfect just like a good little girl should.
She was not perfect. She was never going to be his daughter. The way he wanted her to be. She was different. She had a taste for the blood lines, everything had to be pure. She needed it pure and here she was talking to a muggle, a mudblood, dirty blood. It did not make sense. He made her feel loved!
She turned away from the sound of his voice. "I am not different, I am every bit like a Malfoy, especially Lucius, especially him."
She gritted her teeth together. He really was trying to make her cry. He was trying to edge through the wall. "You will only find cloud and dust if you try to figure out who I am, what I am."

Mack could tell that Dria wanted to be like them. To think like them and to act like them. He could also tell that she wasn't. Not fully anyways. If she was, she would have called him a mudblood and walked away from the beginning. Instead she chose to stay and talk. No matter how cruel the talking was at the beginning. She was softening up.
"You might be like Lucius. But only because you want to be. On the inside, I don't think you're anything like him. You're not as cruel. You're not as mean. You have a soft side to you. One that I think I can get out. One that I think I could fall for." Mack smiled genuinely at her. He meant it. He didn't know why, because he barely knew this girl. But he knew that something about her matched him. Maybe it was because Mack always knew he was close to the Snake side of the houses along with the Ravenclaw side. That could be it. Their personalities matched at least.
"I don't believe there is dust and clouds in you. I think there is more to it. More than you even know."

It was something in the way he spoke that held her there. He was enchanting, memorizing and a bit of a character to say the least. He was trying his best to bore into the little act that Alexandria held up. It was not all an act. She really did have a problem with blood lines. Malfoy's were good people, sort of. At least she would like to think. Even if it wasn't the point. She wanted to come to her families defense. She wanted to protect them. She needed someone to protect her from herself.
"I am everything like my grandfather, my grandfather was the one person who got me, and they killed him." She hissed out. Again out of habit. Anyone that talked about her grandfather usually got slapped, got a cruel spell thrown at them. She was protective of his name. Even if he was worse then Draco, at least when he was alive he gave her the love she needed. The love she craved and wanted. She vowed to make sure that his name carried on.
"I do not have a soft side, mud." She stopped herself. Gah what was wrong with her? She stopped when he had mentioned he could fall for her. What the bloody hell was he even talking about?
"I can not be anything more then a friend, I just can not, if I want any chance of being his daughter. If I want his forgiveness, if he even still loves me. I just can not." She said sharply, grimly almost. As if striking down the whole idea of love. She could not give up. She bit onto her lip, as she dug her fingernail into her skin again. "I have to go." She said grimly. "Goodbye Mudblood." Gah there was that word, and it felt so wrong to say it.
She turned and shoved past him. Her icey composure staying strong.

Mack heard her voice become cruel. Maybe he was wrong about her... maybe she was like any other Malfoy. She had called him a mudblood, even when Mack had tried to get her to open up. Even when he tried to be kind to her. She still called him a mudblood. He was used to it.. but not by someone he was trying to be nice to.
Mack let her pass him without saying a word. He figured it would be best if he just let her leave like she obviously wanted to. It was a shame though. Mack didn't think he had ever met anyone at Hogwarts as pretty as she was. Her eyes, and her hair... just everything about he was so beautiful.
It was times like these he hated the fact he was a mudblood... hated the fact that he was an outcast to most in his own world.

Alexandria was mad at herself for letting it go on for that long to begin with. She went out scolding herself inside of her mind like Lucius or her father would have done. Reminding herself who she was. A Malfoy, a pureblood. They were beneath her. They could not be troubled with. She had to remember she was doing this to keep him protected. She was doing this to keep herself loved. She had to be strong. Even if her reserve was telling her to go back.
She ran down the staircases and towards the dungeons. The father she ran, it almost looked like she was flying inside of the Castle. She made it to the common room, said the password, and was inside as quick as she could be. There in her private chambers. She could fall apart.
