Chase and Brent had decided sometime between looking over lyrics in Chase's office and trying to create the music to the lyrics they already had that they were hungry. So, they decided to take a little trip to the kitchens just like they used to do all the time when they were at Hogwarts themselves.
They were goofing off as they walked down, pushing each other and teasing each other. The norm for Chase and Brent. When they finally reached the kitchen portrait of all the fruit, Chase stepped up by it and tickled the pear. It was his favorite part of taking a secret trip to the kitchens. Tickling that pear was just too fun.
Chase stepped in when the portrait swung open, but found that they weren't the only two that had decided to take a trip to the kitchens for some food. It was strange because Chase didn't think a lot of people knew how to get in the kitchen at Hogwarts. Perhaps he was wrong.
"Looksie here, Brent. We have a snack partner!" Chase laughed towards Brent. He said it in a joyful tone. He was just in a good mood for some reason and he didn't think anything could change that.

Chris looked up from his food as he heard the door to the kitchens open. He had gotten hungry after doing some homework in the Common Room and decided to find himself a midnight snack. He wasn't sure exactly where the kitchens were but he remembered something he had overheard about a portrait of a pear, so he went in search of it. It took a while, but he finally found it.
He looked up at the newcomers and was surprised to see his DADA professor and who he assumed was another professor. "Hello professors. Um...I'm not going to get into trouble for being out of bed am I?"

with Chase, he was completely head over heels for the guy. Still, there was still that horrible guilty feeling right at the back of his mind whenever he was with Chase. That little reminder that he was betraying Maryn. "What?" Brent asked, his thoughts interrupted by voices nearby. Then he realised that they had reached the kitchens already.... and there was a student there. "Oh." Brent tried putting on his best 'you are so getting a detention for this' glare but it wasn't really a very good one. And he was supposed to be enjoying himself right now, not feeling guilty. So Brent gave up glaring and forced a smile instead. "It's fine! Just... don't do it next time or whatever..."[/ul]

Chase laughed at Brent as he tried to act like a teacher at first. Brent was horrible when it came to most of the teacher things. He was just too laid back and care free to do that. It was one of the things Chase loved about him.
"Nawww. You won't be in trouble. You're just hungry! A growing boy needs to eat, doesn't he!" Chase laughed as he told the boy he would be fine and not in trouble. Chase and Brent rarely gave out detentions. They just didn't have the heart to put kids through what they went through their entire school years.
Chase turned to the house elves and told them to get him and Brent what ever was left over from dinner's or whatever they felt like cooking. They weren't exactly picky and they were extremely hungry. If only the house elves could get them beer... then Brent and him would never leave the kitchens.
"Any thing you're in the mood for, Boo-boo?" Chase asked Brent, not even realizing he used Brent's pet name and not just Brent. He was going to get yelled at for that later...

Chris choked on the bite of food he had just taken. "Wait, did he just call you Boo-boo? Oh that's priceless!" He started laughing, hard. He couldn't help himself. Hearing one professor call the other such a silly pet name like that was one of the funniest things he had heard since coming to Hogwarts.
He tried, but he couldn't stop the laughing. After a few long minutes he finally was able to compose himself enough to say something.
"So, are you two together, as in a couple?" It wasn't so much that he was actually interested in the answer, more that he wanted to know the story behind the random pet name.

"Anything that isn't sweet or it'll make me feel like puking." Brent finally answered, snapping sharply at Chase and folding his arms over his chest. Brent was going to sulk now because this was a truly sulk-worthy situation. He narrowed his eyes at the student. "No. He most certainly did not just call me that.... And it's not funny either!" Brent shouted. At least he'd stopped himself from screaming.... for now, anyway. But when the kid had stopped laughing Brent didn't feel like screaming, he felt like hiding. "No! Don't be ridiculous!" he spluttered. People couldn't find out about this... about them. If they even were a 'them', Brent wasn't too sure. Either way, Maryn wasn't going to find this out from anyone but Brent.[/ul]

Honestly, Chase was expecting a curse to be thrown his way, so he settled for the yelling and jabbing. He didn't mean to call Brent that. Chase was normally good about keeping it in private. It just kind of slipped because Chase was in a particularly good mood. So sue him.
"Calm down, Brent. It's not the kids fault he's hearing things." Chase winked at Brent, as to tell him to play along with it. Making sure not to let the kid see the wink. Chase was better at handling these kind of situations than Brent was.
"We're just really good friends. We've known each other since we were in Hogwarts." Chase explained it to the boy. Hoping that would knock him off the topic of them being together. Brent didn't want anyone knowing about them... if anything was happening at all. Chase didn't even know yet.
"Right, nothing sweet. You heard the man. Get to it." Chase told the House elves before walking over to the table the boy was sitting at and dragging Brent with him. Brent needed to start acting calmer.
"So. I don't think I know you. You must not have taken Care of Magical Creatures. I'm Professor Jackson. Or Professor Chase. Whichever. You can call me Chase if you really want. I'm not entirely picky." Chase decided it was best to start a conversation with him.

Chris was laughing in his head at Professor Jackson's answer. Did he really think he couldn't read between the lines. It was clear to anyone with eyes that those two were at least more than friends. "I guess I'll have to give them a little push. Seriously, who did they think they are kidding?"
"Really good friends huh? Sure...I'd believe that, if it wasn't blatantly obvious that there was something there. The way you acted around each other before you realized I was here, the pet names, the way Professor McKinney reacted to said pet name...you aren't fooling me. I won't tell anyone professors, as long as you tell me the truth."
Chris smirked. Maybe all the arguing with Alex and Blaze were bringing the Slytherin out of him.
"I'm Chris Sutton by the way. I'm a seventh year."

Chase was kind of at a loss as to what he should do... the kid clearly could see through the lies, but Brent would kill him if he actually told the kid, Chris, that there was something going on between the two. Then again, at this point, Brent was going to kill him no matter what.
Chase felt Brent's eyes on him, looking like he was going to snap, and didn't know what to say. The normal Brent thing. Chase racked his brain for anything that would pull Chris away from his thoughts, but he didn't think that was really possible.
"What are you saying? That if we don't confess a lie to you, then you'll spread the rumor around the entire school that there is something between us?" Chase asked it incredulously, like it would be absolutely absurd that he would do something like that. It was the only thing Chase had. It was worth a shot. Chase hit Brent on the knee under the table, not hard, just enough to remind him to act natural and not say anything stupid like Brent could. Stupid, but incredibly adorable.
The house elves piled food on the table in front of Brent and Chase. There was a huge variety, and Chase loved it. He went for the ice cream first, as that would melt. And he loveeddd ice cream.

Chris chuckled to himself. He was sure that he would receive a detention for all this, but he wasn't sure he cared. "Geez Professor McKinney, no need to pout. You look like a five year old who got told he couldn't have dessert after dinner."
He turned to Professor Jackson. "I never said that I would start such a rumor. One it wouldn't be a rumor as it is obvious that you are at least a couple. Two, I never said when, how or to whom I would tell. For all you know, I could just tell one person, I could tell the whole school, or I could keep it to myself. Also, I could tell them within minutes of leaving, or weeks. Or...I could keep it as blackmail."
Oh Chris knew that he was really pushing his luck, but from what he could tell, these professors were not about to let this secret get out. He sat back in his chair and smirked as he said, "So professors what will it be? Will you risk someone else finding out that there may be more than meets the eye when it comes to you two. Or will you just give in to a single seventh year?"

Chase wanted to mentally slap himself... maybe it would be better just to tell him the truth. It seemed like this kid was going to tell people anyways. He would wait, though. Figure out where this kid was going with it, and see if he could persuade him there was nothing going on. Even though there was. Maybe.
"Dude, I'm not going to eat everything. That's way too much! And you just said you were staving back at my office!" Chase used dude instead of Brenty, or Boo Boo or even just Brent. Dude sounded more like friends to him.
"Chris, there is nothing going on between me and Brent. I promise you that. We're just really good friends. We have been since we were in Hogwarts. That's it, there is nothing more to it." Chase tried to act like he was being one hundred percent truthful. But he didn't know if he pulled it off. "And like Brent said. Show your professor's some respect. Especially since we're not giving you detention for being out of bed."

"You are right. You are both my professors and I should show you a little more respect. For that I apologize.
"It sounds to me like you two are trying to convince yourselves that there is nothing between you other than friendship more than you are trying to convince me.
"I promise you that I won't tell anyone; I'll keep it to myself. I can see that you two are together, no matter how much you like to deny it."
