Brent was having what he would describe as an 'awesome day'. Basically, it was a day where nothing went wrong at all and Brent was generally having fun all day. He was wearing a tiara, one he had made using magic as he had gotten a little side tracked during his lesson today, going on about the Royal Family and how they were all Muggles and the Wizarding Wars had to be hidden from them. His class had found it quite amusing to see their professor dashing around the room in a tiara, talking at a high speed. Damn, I should've said about Rowena Ravenclaw's diadem! a voice inside his head said, causing Brent to mentally slap himself. He was lounging on one of the chairs in the staff room now, glad to finally be able to sit down. Although he'd been having an 'awesome day' it had still been pretty manic not that Brent particularly minded.[/ul]

Minna led the way to the staff room just in time to see someone had already beaten her and Maryn there. Minna stared at the person, ”Definitely a teacher.” she thought to herself. She sat on another sofa, far from where the silent teacher was sitting.
“So Maryn, tell me how you manage to end up with McKinney. I never had thought that you’d go for the likes of him. No offence but I don’t see what you saw in him aside from bones and a brain that probably works.” Minna said.
She never really liked Brent when they were still in school. She just saw him as a scrawny kid who stared at Maryn whenever they passed him by either in the library or the Great Hall.
“But since it’s you, I don’t doubt your choice. You’ve always been good in making sound choices… Unlike me… Who apparently let a certain Steven Coville go without saying a thing to him… And now I am in the days were I regret not saying anything and planning in my head to see him but don’t have any courage to do so.” Minna sighed in frustration.
“McKinney had guts. That I got to of him. To go after a Slytherin is intense.” Minna added with a smirk.

Brent was pretty sure this new song would be called Mercenary and couldn't wait to see what the rest of the boys thought of it. Finally, Brent looked up after hearing Maryn's familiar voice. Princess? What's she on about? he thought to himself but then remembered his interesting choise of headgear. "I made it, so did the students. I got talking about the Muggle Royal Family and so... yeah, you can kinda see the rest..." he grinned, pointing to his tiara, all the time, holding on tightly to his parchment and quill. He stood up and walked over Maryn and the woman with her. "I'm not a twit!" he cried, shaking his head but knowing Maryn was joking around by the twinkle in her eye. "...Minna Theoreux?" he repeated slowly, looking at the woman next to Maryn and it finally clicking.. he knew he'd recognised her from somewhere. He snorted, "Yeah, yeah, how could I forget your partner in crime?"[/ul]

Minna laughed as Maryn pointed out Brent’s little tiara. “Nice to see you again too, Maryn’s twit in armor… in this case, twit in a tiara. It is a shock that Maryn ended up with you really. Nevertheless, I trust her choice of man so do better take good care of her or she might castrate you when her own wand. And believe me, it won’t be painless.” Minna told him with a smile on her face. Her skills of threatening others with a smile has improved over the years, that she knew very well.
Then she began to think how her life would have been if she ended up with Steven like how Maryn married Brent. Minna was in the brink of asking Brent if he heard anything from Steven. Though they weren’t close, they might have been in contact for some divine reason. She suddenly got the images of her and Steven both teaching at Hogwarts. Steven would be the Care of Magical Creatures professor while she thought Ancient Runes. The images were great and it made her smile without knowing it.

Against the Dark Arts and got your class making tiaras?" She couldn't help but to laugh at how stupid it all sounded... and also at how stupid Brent looked. "You are a twit, dear, all three of us know it." she smirked, looking bemusedly between Minna and Brent. She was glad that there had been no arguments, she wasn't exactly sure of how her old friend and husband would treat each other. Maryn's smirk grew in size, "Ah, yes.. watch out, Brenty.."[/ul]

"Like I said before, I am not a twit!" he laughed, shaking his head, "And I know that for a fact." Brent had a feeling that these two ex-Slytherins were ganging up on him. After all, they had the advantage here. It was two against one. He was a little worried of what they would say or do, he'd had to put up with Minna and Maryn all through his school life, those many years ago...[/ul]

Minna turned to look at Maryn, not sure if she was going to ask Brent about Steven. She was really trying her best to not say anything but she was dying to know if he had news of him. Minna sighed in frustration and took other deep breath, trying to sum up any courage she had in her.
“McKi-Brent… D-do.. Do you have any news of Steven Coville?” she asked him. She was half hoping he had and half knowing he might not have heard any news of Steven at all. Half of her was scared that Brent might say Steven was now married and has children. If Brent did say it, she might just blow a fuse and take it out on her students during class or dinner.
Minna couldn’t look straight at Brent so she turned to look at Maryn instead and hoped that Brent would ease whatever news of Steven in and not drop it all on her like a bomb.

"He went to Asia, never married or anything. He's a bit of a loner really, don't you think?" Brent replied, with a laid back shrug. He'd known Coville pretty well even if they didn't get on sometimes. He'd heard from him a couple of times and sent out owls to him just to check if he was alright. After all, Asia was still quite a distance away from Scotland. "And he's doing well, from what he's told me. But, you never know, he could just be lying."[/ul]

Minna’s heart felt a thread of hope light up when Brent said he never married. But it didn’t last long when she heard him say that he was a loner and that Steven might have been lying that he was doing well. Her face showed what she really felt. And no matter how hard she tired, she couldn’t erase the sadness that had plastered itself on her face.
“Oh…” was all she was able let out at first. She didn’t know what to say about what she just heard. Ravenclaws were rumored to be loners because they tend to clash with other co-Ravenclaws when it came to academics and view points. But she knew what she wanted to ask next and there was no turning back now. She had already began asking.
“Do you know how to get hold of him? Have you spoken to him recently? How is he really doing? Can you tell him… Can you tell him that I said hello and ask about him well-being?” she asked him in one single breathing. She knew that if she stopped in between questions, she would lose whatever nerve she had been able to muster up in her.

Yes, the truth was good but it was painful as well. Maryn didn't want Minna to end up with a broken heart just because Brent had said something insensitive which was highly likely as he rarely thought through what he was saying before sharing it with people. He'd always been like that but Maryn had grown used to it. "Why don't you just give Minna Steven's address?" she asked, then turning back to her old friend, "That way you can ask him all of these questions yourself..." Besides, Maryn knew Brent would never remember to write that down in a letter and he was bound to have Coville's address somewhere.[/ul]

He was wondering what he had done 'wrong' now. What Maryn had suggested sounded like a good idea. His letters to Steven were rushed and short, he didn't particularly want to spend any longer than usual on some letter to a guy he hadn't seen in over a decade. On the other hand, could Brent really be bothered to search his pigsty of an office for Steven's address? He didn't think so, not right now anyway. "Fine I dunno when but I'll give you the address," he sighed at Minna before adding under his breath, "...if I can even find it..." I hope I haven't just written it down on a scrap of paper or I'll never find it. he thought to himself. Brent's whole office was a mess but his desk took 'messy' to a whole new level. It was literally covered with stacks of musical and student's papers with lots of random things balancing on top of them.[/ul]

Minna tried her best not to twitch. But a vein appeared by her left temple and she was trying not to show it. She then turned to Maryn who with one glance told Maryn, ”Make him find that bloody address before I castrate him with my own wand. Then he’d never have children to continue his family name…”
Minna sighed. She didn’t want to be mean and angry but she just couldn’t help it. Minna had already spilled her heart out and asked about a guy despite her reputation for being cold and heartless. She wasn’t heartless. She was just afraid of rejection and being left alone.

favour. Now, be a dear and go and retrieve Steven's address for Minna please." Just to seal the deal, she widened her eyes and pouted slightly. "For me?" she asked in a small voice.[/ul]
