Minna was pacing back and forth in the staff room. She didn't know what to do. She knew something was up. And she knew the truth. But it was killing her when she had to keep it to herself and not admit to Maryn what she knew and what she see's out in the hell when Brent and Chase think no one was around.
"I know I should tell Maryn but it's not my place to tell her. It's those idiots who have to come clean and tell her everything." she thought to herself. Though she knew that all she had was theories and guesses, she knew she guessed right.
Brent McKinney and Chase Jackson are having a... ugh... A thing for each other. Minna couldn't even bring herself to say it. But she knew she was right. She saw them when they thought they were alone. When they thought no one was looking.
"How wrong you both are. How very wrong indeed." she said out loud in the empty staff room.

Chase had decided to stop in the Staff Room to get a cup of coffee. He hadn't got much sleep last night and therefore was extremely tired. He wanted to just go lay down for a bit and maybe take a nap. But he had to teach a class in a little bit and therefore couldn't. So coffee it was.
When Chase walked it, he was surprised, and unhappy, to find Minna in there. She was the Slytherin head, and Maryn's best friend. Which was never good. The two of them had been the ones to pick on Brent when they went to Hogwarts. Something Chase will never forget, or forgive; unlike Brent.
"Hello, Minna. Lovely day, isn't it." Chase said awkwardly. He really never knew what to say around her, or Maryn. He didn't like either of them, but it wasn't like he was just going to start a fight with them.

Minna sharply turned around and saw Chase enter the staff room. "Great... Just great." she said out loud. Loud enough for him to hear on purpose. "I wouldn't know if the day is lovely since I'm in here and as you know, this room has NO windows." she pointed out as she sat back on the couch.
She was never comfortable around Chase despite him being a Head of House like her. She was never really comfortable around Brent as well. So this didn't make Chase any more special than Brent. She watched him make his way to the coffee table. He didn't really look at her. And she knew why.
"I know the truth about you and Brent, Chase. I know." she said seriously. She was determined to avenge her friend without resolving to hexing anyone.

Chase sighed when Minna had such a wonderful reaction to him walking in the room. Chase literally hated her sometimes, but of course he had to act professional around her. They were both heads of house. The rival heads of house at that. They had to set an example.
Chase had just walked over to get his coffee, ignoring her comment about their being no windows. It was just sarcasm, and he would just be feeding into it if he replied.
Chase dropped the coffee pot as he was pouring. Did she just say that. Quickly taking out his wand, Chase fixed the pot and then cleaned up the mess. Ignoring her at first. Making more coffee quickly. He would need it for sure now.
"I don't know what you're talking about, Minna... Me and Brent are best friends. What more could their be about us." Chase knew what she meant. But he wasn't going to admit it.

Minna rolled her eyes. He was obviously lying. Did he know that he was a bad liar? Maybe not. Cause if he did. he wouldn't have dropped the pot in the first place. And she would be glad to tell him herself.
"You are a horrible liar, Chase Michael Jackson. And you know what I'm talking about. You don't think I'm daft do you? To not sense the tension your body is emitting the moment I said I knew the truth." she said as she told up and walked up to stand next to the man.
"Let's cut the crap and just be honest shall we. think about it, if I was lying, I wouldn't even bother with you or McKinney for that matter. But my best friend's marriage is at stake here. I do not want to see her hurt. Not by you. And certainly NOT by Brent." she said with protectiveness.

Chase knew she was right. He was a horrible liar. Brent told him that frequently. But he wasn't about to admit it to her. He had to stand his ground. For brent.... She couldn't know, because if she did, she would tell Maryn. And Brent had to be the one to tell her.
"I don't know what you're talking about, Minna. Me and Brent are best friends, and I don't know what you're insinuating, but I would appreiciate it if you didn't." Chase had to bring out his anger. Had to stand tall. It was the only way to deal with her.
No matter how scared she made him. All those tauntings... teasings... She scared him. But Chase would never admit that. No man would.
"If their marriage is at stake, then that is their own problem. And has nothing to do with me, or you."

"Don't act stupid with me, Chase. If I were a horrible person like you and Brent see me as, I would have told Maryn by now. But as you can see, I haven't. I may not be skilled in Potions, but I can brew a very strong Veritasirum and my hand just might... slip in your cup of coffee." she warned him.
"Spill now before I have to resort to such measures. I give you my word, that I, Willhellminna Theoreux, daughter and bearer of the Old and Honorable name of Theoreux, will not say anything to Maryn. Even if it's killing me to do so." she said.
Then her facial features began to soften. This was horrible. "I just want to know why now... Why did you guys have to feel this way about each other now? Why?" she asked as she sat down on an armchair. She wouldn't admit it out loud, but she cared not only for Maryn but for the Chase and Brent too.
Minna wasn't that cold hearted as she shows people. She cared. She didn't like people falling into pieces around her. She hated it.

Chase knew that he was going to have to give in. She knew, and she wasn't accepting his lies. Was she serious though? Would she really not tell Maryn? Chase didn't really have a choice anymore. He had to go along with her, because if he didn't, she'd be more likely to tell her.
"Fine. Yeah. There is something going on between me and Brent. But you can't tell Maryn. Brent wants to himself. He does plan to. He never wanted it to happen." Chase was going to just tell her the truth for everything.
"It's not like it's random. Well. Sort of. We dated before Maryn came in the picture. But Brent didn't think he was gay, or bi. He thought he was striaght. I've been in love with him for as long as I can remember." Chase didn't like telling her this stuff. "But apparently he's not completely straight. And he figured out he has feelings for me."
At least that was over with.

Minna sighed. She was right then, not that she ever doubted herself. She just had to hear it from Brent or Chase. Now she did. "I wonder how Maryn will take that idiot's confession. She's loves him, that I know. But with you in the same frame as she is with Brent, it'll never work. It'd be stupid to share him. That'll never happen, knowing Maryn." She softly spoke.
She stared at the ceiling. there was nothing she can do but be there when her friend comes to her and cries out her heart. "He's probably bi... Do you remember a Ravenclaw by the name of Steven Coville? I had guts to send him an owl... And turns out I was too late. He's married now..." she was now spilling her guts to Chase. Not that she wanted too.
"He and some guy named Marcus Smith have been married for a year now. I was too late... I show have grabbed the opportunity many years ago when he confused... God was I stupid back then..." she said as she scoffed at herself.
"Maryn and I really are best friends. We fell for men who fell for men too..." she added as tears began to fall down her cheeks. And there was nothing she could do now.

"Brent isn't planning on having Maryn share. He's planning on picking one of us. But he's telling her what's going on before he picks." Chase didn't know if he should tell her that. But he did anyways. Because apparently this was confession hour.
Chase listened as Minna went on about some Ravenclaw whom he vaguely remembered. He didn't very well. Chase couldn't even put a face to him. After Minna was done talking Chase walked closer to her. Wanting to reach out and comfort her.... no matter how much they didn't like each other.
"I'm sorry Minna. I know what it's like to not be able to have the one you love. I know all too well." Chase knew because of Brent. Of always being there. Right next to him, yet not being able to be with him.
Chase wanted to help her when he saw the tears. Chase didn't like it when people were sad. No matter who they were. But he stopped himself. Knowing she wouldn't want him to touch her...
"Just so you know. I'm not making him pick. Or trying to persuade him in any way. I just want him to be happy. Whether that's with me or not. I'll still be his best friend." Chase thought he should explain that. It was important.

Minna knew Chase was going to touch her. She neither cared now. She was too depressed and just needed a hug. Where was Redpaw when needed. And to think he volunteered to be her support. He was nowhere these days. She tried to understand what Chase was saying. And she merely nodded.
"It was right of you not to make him choose. It should be him to do that himself without being asked to do so. I just hope Maryn won't be devastated too much..." Minna spoke softly. She stood up and gave Chase a hug. She didn't know why, but she did.
"If that idiot chooses you, I hope you both will be happy. If he chooses Maryn... Then I hope you'll find happiness somewhere and somehow remain best of friends with Brent." she was sincere with what she said. She knew how it felt to be hurt.
Minna let go of Chase and laid back down on the couch, "You better not tell anyone you saw Minna Theoreux crying. That would dampen my reputation as 'cold-hearted' Slytherin Head." she said as she tried to laugh, staring at the ceiling to stop the tears from coming down.

Chase was shocked when Minna got up and hugged him. It wasn't like her. None of this was like her. But Chase hugged her back anyways. Showing her that he was there. That he would be there always if she needed him. Even though they weren't friends, that was the type of guy Chase was.
"I hope she isn't either. But if you think about it. In the end, one of us will be hurt. Brent loves both me and Maryn. He told me that. He'll be hurt by this too." Chase knew that Brent would hate himself for whatever he chose.
"Thanks Minna. It means a lot to me. Especially coming from you." Chase couldn't believe that he was actually talking to Minna civilly. It wasn't that bad actually.
"What? Minna Theoreux crying? When did this happen?" Chase smiled at her as he pretended not to have any idea what she was talking about.

"If i find out that that idiot made my best friend cry,he might not live be be forty... Not that I'm blaming you why Maryn will be in tears..." Minna was having a hard time. She didn't know what to say to comfort herself and Maryn at the same time, not be rude to Chase.
Minnahad to admit, the guys had not really annoyed her as much as Brent did. It was just inevitable that Brent would annoy Minna with his mere aura and lifestyle.
"I knew there was something about Brent that i didn't notice before when we were still students here... I saw it when Maryn introduced me to him again. However, this time,as her husband... I should have seen it then." Minna spoke with a tone of regret.
She regret not having noticed from the beginning. Regret that her best friend was going to be hurt because of Brent and his unexpected feelings.

"I think tears will be inevitable. And I wish you wouldn't take it out on Brent. He's going through so much in his life right now. It doesn't begin, nor start, with this. I suppose you could call it a mid life crisis, a little early." Chase smiled sadly. Between Brent's parents dying, and Tommy and just everything else in Brent's life. He had it hard.
"The whole Bisexual thing didn't happen until we graduated from Hogwarts. I had always been, but Brent wanted to try it out. Thought he was as well. He didn't know anything when he was at Hogwarts. And even when he met you again. He thought he was straight." Chase wouldn't mention how he had always known. Could always tell. He could tell Brent what he was thinking better than Brent could sometimes.
"You shouldn't blame yourself for this. It isn't really anybody's fault. Just something that happened in life. Was it supposed to happen? Maybe. Who knows. But it did. And no one should think it was their own fault. If anything, It's a little bit of everyones. But it's never solely on one person. I've learned that." Chase thought back to his father. And how he used to think it was his fault he was such a drunk. He thought that for most of his life. Brent helped him not think that though. Brent always helped him.

Minna knew Chase was right that it wasn't really Brent's fault. She knew how the human emotions worked. They start moving when you least expect it. But when her mind analyzed what Chase just said, she just blew a fuss.
So what if his parents died and just had Tommy? He wasn't even close to what she went through her whole life. But then she remembered that Chase and Brent weren't pure-bloods so they didn't really know what her life was like.
"His parents died eh? My mother died giving birth to me. I grew up without a mother... And because of me, my own father hates me. He loved my mother more than his own life. And she died because of me... I grew up not only having no mother to take care of me but also my own father hated me from the day I was born..." she began.
"He neither showed any love or care for me. If it weren't for my face, he would have sent me to an orphanage. I look like my mother when she was young... The elves told me. My father couldn't give me away because it would bring bad luck. So he just never care for me..."
More tears ran down Minna's face. "Everyone in the wizarding world knew how much my father hated his own flesh and blood. But I knew you would have never heard of it because it was a pure-blood thing. Everyone in the Ministry both felt sorry and pity for me." she told him.
"I'm not comparing my life to Brent's but he should have been man enough to handle his crisis better than how he is handling it now." there was a hint of bitterness in her tone. Minna tried to be fair but it was just plain hard to do so.
