Grab some beers at the Hog's Head? Sure, Phoenix was game. As game as he had been all the other times he and his friend Mackenzie had snuck off to do the same. Normally the Three Broomsticks was their preferred haunt but today there were many people within its walls. And many were familiar faces. So to avoid awkward confrontations, the two friends had popped over to the Hog's Head instead. Opening the wooden door, Phoenix was hit by a wall of stale tobacco and drink. The atmosphere inside was just as promising. It was dull, a tad gloomy and a bit on the chilly side. Still think the Three Broomsticks would of been a better choice... Phoenix mused to himself. rubbing his forearms in a bid to warm them. But, nevertheless, he held the door for his friend to walk in and offered him a smile. "You grab the drinks, I'll grab us a seat." He said before gliding over to a table sat by a window translucent from grime. Phoenix promptly occupied a seat, running a hand through his wavy, mousy brown hair. He peered around the pub. The people were just as glum as the atmosphere. His gaze fell upon a man...sat a couple of tables away....he seemed quite familiar. But Phoenix knew not to stare, and turned briskly away, waiting for his friend to return to their table.[/blockquote]

Mack was so happy that him and Phoenix were going out for a drink. He needed a night to just forget about school, and all that shit. It was kind of getting to be way to much, and he didn't mind studying or doing homework. So him and Phoenix had snuck out for the night, and Mack planned on getting completely smashed. It was the only way to live.
He listened to Phoenix when he had mentioned getting the drinks and he would get the seats. Mack went up to the bar and ordered two firewhiskey's. One thing he was glad about here was that the bar tender didn't give a shit whether they were under age or not. Mack was close enough to 17.
He brought the drinks to the table where Phoenix had sat and put one of them in front of him and took the seat across. Mack took a nice long drink from his own glass. He wished he could drink all the time. Literally.
"Damn it's been too long, man."

Phoenix kept it to himself that he would of just preferred a normal beer instead of Firewhiskey. It was strong stuff. And if this was starting how Mackenzie tended to go on....Phoenix wasn't sure exactly how long he'd last. With a smile and a thanks, he took the drink and took a deep sip. The teen sighed content feeling the familiar burning, warm sensation as it trickled down his throat and entered his stomach. He set it down gently and turned towards his friend. "Yeah...it has." He chuckled. "Nice to wind down after the week I've just had." Phoenix was what could be considered a good student. He never ran his work in late and always preferred to keep on top of things. Only because he hated the feeling of dread and absolute pressure when he left anything till last moment. Hearing someone approach their table, the teen looked up and his smile faltered some. It was the man that had seemed familiar. Phoenix groaned inwardly - it was none other than their cute head of house Brent McKinney. And he didn't look too pleased. Busted...I'm guessing. "Hello, sir." Phoenix smiled, batting the nerves of a boy caught in the act off school grounds. "Wasn't expecting to see you here."[/blockquote]

Mack was just about to tell Phoenix that he was completely right and that they had needed this break before none other than his favorite professor had walked over to them. Anger was clear on his face. At this point... Mack knew there was no hope for them really. They would be in trouble. Might as well make it worth something.
"I always knew this place was for scum?" Mack smirked at him. "Thanks for proving my point, Professor." Mack was still slightly angry at Brent for making him sit out on one of the most important quidditch games of Mack's career. It made him completely pissed off that he got to make Mack be stuck in detention when he should have been on the pitch. He wasn't about to let go of this angry.
Looking straight at Brent, Mack picked up his firewhiskey and took a long drink of it. Not wincing once bit as it burned going down his throat. Might as well drink as much as he can before he gets in trouble.

too, it was pissing him off even more. "I must say I wasn't expecting you to be here either, Mr Night. I was expecting you two to be in the common room on your dorm, you see." he replied icily before his cold eyes looked over at Mack. Brent was going to have some strong words with that bartender the next time he found the chance. Selling firewhiskey to two underage wizards? What had he been thinking? Well, it was obvious, he'd just been thinking of the money. Deep down, Brent couldn't blame him. He would've probably ended up doing the same in that position. He was not going to scream and look like a crazy peadophile. No. Brent knew that wasn't a wise idea in the current situation and, instead, pointed fiercely at the door before snarling at the boys, "You two. Out. Now."[/ul]

The fun hadn't even started yet it was already over.
There was no way they were going to be able to continue their plan of having a casual drink with Brent here. It was more than obvious that the professor was seething with them. Phoenix couldn't really blame him - finding two underage kids, drinking in some depressing pub in Hogsmeade wasn't exactly a good thing. And it probably didn't help that Mackenzie was more or less stoking the fire.
"This place is terrible anyway..." Phoenix grumbled, finishing his drink quickly and getting up to his feet with a swish of his sable robe. He didn't meet Brent's angered gaze because he knew that it'd make him feel guilty. Sure, they may of gotten up to this before but...it still was a bummer getting caught. Phoenix leaned on the table with one hand and looked down at Mackenzie before making his way to the door. "Well? Sourpuss wants us out." [/blockquote]

Mack had half a mind to not listen to Brent, but he figured he wouldn't make his punishment any worse by telling him he wouldn't leave. Mack didn't think there was any body else in the world that made him as mad as Brent did. No one messed with his quidditch. No one.
"Whatever you say, queen bee." Smirking at Brent, making sure he said the queen part a little more so Brent knew Mack was calling him a girl. He drank the rest of his firewhiskey and got up from the table, slowly making his way out of the bar against his will.
In the back of Mack's mind, he couldn't help but think that if Brent tried to take away another quidditch match that he probably should watch for Mack's wand. because it wouldn't be pretty.

Phoenix thought that maybe Mackenzie was treading on thin ice. Calling a professor scum and then a girl? Maybe this had all been a bad idea going out. Maybe he should of just stayed back in his dorm, listening to music and reading through his notes. He knew of Brent's temper yet he hadn't experienced it first-hand. Phoenix assumed he was going to get detention...something he hadn't had in quite a while.
It was safe to say that Mackenzie certainly brought out the worst of Phoenix. But only because the Ravenclaw had a soft spot for his friend, to put it in a way. He knew that it would never stretch beyond this though - a nice, little friendship that got him into trouble. Mack had a girlfriend and was as straight as straight could be. Phoenix needed a girlfriend. Or a boyfriend. He wasn't picky.
Now stood outside of the Hog's Head, Phoenix stood there looking rather pale, rubbing his arms from the sudden, bitter cold invading his bones. "Detention, right?" He sighed, lifting his hand up to scratch the back of his head. "Awesome." [/blockquote]

Mack knew they were getting detention, but he honestly didn't give a shit. It was worth it, he just wished they had gotten in a few more drinks. He supposed it could be worse than just a couple detentions. They could have gotten expelled... but that would be horrible. Dreadful. Mack didn't think he would live without school... Psh.
"I wonder how many detentions you give to students on a daily basis.... no wonder no one likes you." Mack said honestly. "You seem to always have a problem with everyone." Mack was tired of being yelled at all the time by him. It was getting ridiculous and he wasn't going to take it any more.

back to the castle." he snapped. There was no way he was going to stand around here in the freezing cold. Brent turned to glare at Mack. "Maybe if people learned to keep their mouths shut and not constantly get into trouble I wouldn't have any problem with them. Right now, I don't care what people think of me, I'm just doing my job. I'm not enjoying this any more than you two are." he sighed in frustration. He just wanted to go back to his office with Charlie or something. Not have to march two annoying little boys back to the castle. Really, Brent hated his job most of the time. Being a head of house too just meant he had more responsibilities than before.[/ul]

Mack was really pushing it with McKinney, Phoenix thought. He was actually surprised that their Head was letting him get away with so much. Heck, he'd just been caught drinking and was now giving him a gobful of backchat. The young teen guessed it would just be best if he didn't add anything. Phoenix was really bummed out at the idea of getting detention. It wasn't the first he had gotten either since his friendship with Mackenzie. Peer pressure was a terrible thing. "C'mon, Mackie..." Phoenix sighed. "Lets not make this worse..." Because the Claw really did not fancy getting more detentions then needed. He wrapped his blue scarf tighter around his neck and burrowed his chin into it, delving his gloved hands deep into his pockets. English weather. You had to love it.[/blockquote]
