Narcissa was in the living room, sitting quietly on the sofa drinking tea. She had been left alone to herself most of the time by Draco and Astoria. Her own grandchildren barely have time to have a small chat with her. She sighed to herself. Growing older wasn't as fun as it should be.
She wondered where everyone was and what they were doing. Draco had been more busier than he usually was. And Narcissa was beginning to think that her son was off to meet someone she knew not. She didn't mind really. Draco deserved to do whatever he wanted now. She just wanted to know what he was really doing and feel that she was still part of her son's life.

Draco was reading in his study when he decided that he should try to go talk to his mother. He hadn't talked to her in a while, and he missed how close they had gotten after the war. What with them both being happy and said about their other family member.
Knowing he would find her in the living room, he walked in to find her drinking tea. Smiling, he walked over to her and kissed her cheek. "Decided I should come and talk with you. I haven't in a while." He said as he sat down next to her on the couch. "Mind if I join you for tea?" Draco asked her, hoping she wouldn't be too mad about him seeming to disappear on her. He had just been very busy, especially with his new friend, Harry Potter. That was still strange to say.

Narcissa was glad that Draco had left his private study. She smiled at him and patted the space next to her. "You know that I would never mind you joining me for tea. Come, tell me what you have been up to lately." she told him with enthusiasm. She had missed spending time with her son and she was just glad that he was giving her time now.
"It indeed has been awhile, Draco." she said as she gave his hand a soft pat. "Back to you, what have you been up to lately. I remember you went out a few nights ago somewhere and came back rather disoriented and confused. Did something happen?" she asked him.
She wasn't prying, she was just worried that her son might be having problems and she wanted to know if she could help. She had yet to read the Daily Prophet and see what other lies those nasty reporters had to say about other people. She had the folded paper in her lap and just waited for her son to say something.

Draco smiled at him mum. She was probably one of the only people that he smiled around freely. Well, besides Harry now apparently. Maybe that was what was getting to him. That Harry could make him smile when his wife never could. It didn't make sense to him. Then again, this late in life, Draco was expecting things to never make sense.
"I'm becoming friends with Harry Potter, mother." Draco blurted out suddenly. He needed him mom to know. "We've had dinner now, and I invited him to the Maxwell party with me." Draco didn't know if he was ashamed, or if he just simply needed the approval of someone and knew his mom might be the only person to give it to him. "But it's weird, mum. I actually enjoy being with him. It was fun talking to him. He's not as bad of a person I thought he was all those years ago."

Narcissa was simply glad to spend a few minutes of her son's time despit his busy schedule. But as Draco spoke, he mentioned Harry Potter, having dinner with him and inviting him at the Maxwell Party. To say the least, Narcissa was in shock. She never thought she would see the day that her son and Potter would set aside their old school rivalry and be civil to each other.
She smiled at Draco and squeezed his hand. "You seem like you want me to approve or disapprove what your new found friendship with Harry. My darling Draco, whatever makes you happy, I will support you to the very end. And if this friendship you have with him makes you smile this way, I have no objections to it." she told him as she held his cheek lovingly.
Narcissa wondered when Draco would actually realize that he had always unspoken for feelings for Harry Potter. Despite being quiet and just observing her family, Narcissa was not blin to see the signs that Draco may actually like Harry in a way that it is beyond simple friendship.
"If you like, you can invite him here for dinner as well. I do have to speak to him about something as well. Rest assured it is not about you, Draco." she told Draco before her son could ask why she wanted Harry over for dinner.

Draco looked at her with a weird expression. Like... he knew she was right, yet it confused him still. Hearing it out loud. "Yeah. I guess I do need to hear your approval. I've been told all my life to be as mean as possible to Harry." Draco called him Harry again. It still didn't repulse him.
"I... think that'd be great. To have him come over. He mentioned something about you at our dinner. He still has you to thank for his life." Draco told his mother with a fond smile toward her. He loved his mother probably more than any other person on the planet. that was for sure. She had always been there for him, and that wasn't something he would ever forget.
"I'm sure he'd be up for it. I can even floo call or owl him and see if he wanted to come tonight..." Draco said, suddenly excited about the chance to see Harry again.

Narcissa chuckled, indeed Draco had changed. But it was a good change. "Yes, your father was never wrong when he told you to hate, Harry. But he is no longer here, my Dragon. Do what makes you happy. As long as your happy, I'm happy as well." she told him as she held her son's cheek lovingly.
"You must ask him first if he wants to come here. This place might make him remember old memories and might open old wounds." she said with concerned. Yes, the walls of Malfoy Manor hold memories, bitter memories for others. And as much as Narcissa wanted to move, she couldn't. The manor also had good memories for her.
"Remember Draco, the last time Harry was here was to save his friends many years ago. He might not like to recall them. But, I would like it very much if you can convince him to come over for dinner. It would be a good change for all of us. To close up old wounds once and for all." she said with a smile.

"Thanks, Mom. You always did know how to make me feel better." Draco smiled. He and his mother had a weird relationship, but he wouldn't change it for the world. He would do anything for his mother, and he really meant that. His mother was one person he actually loved in the world.
"Yeah. That's a good point. I'll go to his house today and ask him in person." He told her with a smile. Draco hoped that Harry wouldn't care about the memories this house brought him. It wasn't like he just could stop using this house. It was his, technically. "I'm sure if I ask nicely, he'll come." Draco had the strange feeling that he really would. He wasn't sure why, though.
Draco smiled at his mother. "I want nothing more than you two to get along. I have a feeling he'll be around for a while. I enjoy being around him." Draco admitted. He just wasn't sure in what way that was true. He just knew it was true.

Narcissa was surprised to hear that Draco would actually get up and go to a person's house and invite them in person. Harry must have changed a lot and this has rubbed off on Draco. This was a good thing. Narcissa was going to be happy as long as Draco was happy.
"Well, since it's you who's asking him, I'm sure he'd come." she told him with a smile as she took a sip of her tea. "I would love to have a chat with him again. In a better light now too. And Draco darling... You seem to have been more livelier now... It's wonderful to see you this way." she told him as she placed down her cup and gave him a hug.
"If harry's the rest for this, then he should 'stick around' longer. i love you, my beloved Draco and if he makes you happy, then i shall love him and be happy for you both." she hinted Draco that she knew something that Draco has yet to understand.

Draco smiled fondly, thinking about Harry. "Yeah. I suppose I've kind of changed now. It's weird with him, but I like it. You know how hard it is for me to truly smile. I do that with him, and I don't care that it's with him." Draco admitted, his eyes sparkling.
Draco hugged his mother back instantly. Wrapping his airs around her small, frail body. "Thanks, mum. It means a lot to me, actually. Even though I have a feeling there's something hidden in your words. I'm sure I'll find out sooner or later." Draco chuckled while still holding onto his mother. Draco wasn't quite sure what he would do without her. The house would be boring and Draco wouldn't have anyone he truly adores in it. Too bad it'd be weird to have Harry move in with him. Wait, did Draco just say that? No. He thought it. Completely different.

Narcissa just had to chuckle. Draco had truly grown up now. "If you truly are happy with him, let yourself be happy this time, my darling Dragon. We had made multiple mistakes by making important decisions without our opinion. And for that I am truly sorry." she told him. "However, now you can be you want to be. Be with whoever you want to be. Love you your own heart chooses." she added as she held his hand in hers.
"You may not understand my words right now but I have a feeling that if you keep seeing Harry, you shall know what I mean. You will feel and understand it when the time is right. that I can tell you." she told his as she patted his hand. "I shall have the elves prepare dinner. Will Scorpius and Alexandria be joining us for dinner?" she asked.
Narcissa wondered how the children will take the news that their father is seeing Hear Auror Potter. When Harry is involved, things always turn out to be interesting and worth while. She smiled at the thought of her son finally admitting that he feels more than just friendship for Harry. Lovely, she thought.

Draco just smiled at his mother. "It doesn't matter, mum. Everything worked out in the end, didn't they?" He asked, but it was more of a rhetorical question than an actual one. "Uhm. I'm not sure if the kids will come or not. My guess is that they won't. Because it's them and they seem to want to do everything they possibly can to defy me. So I would count them out." Draco told his mother as his smile faltered a bit. He wanted them to love him, but all they did was defy him.
"I should go to Harry's and invite him to dinner now, mother. We'll talk there, and one of these days we'll have a day of just the two of us. We can go shopping or something like that. Maybe even force the kids to go if that's what you want. I just want you happy, mother." Draco told her honestly. His mother was one of the only people he truly wanted happy in life. Her, and his children, and Harry it seemed.
