Chase was a dead man. A fucking dead man. Jackie blamed himself too. He shouldn't of applied for the healer position in Hogwarts so soon after Maryn's untimely passing. By the looks of it, Jackie had aroused suspicions and the bastard had called in a little favour at the Ministry. He just had to stay calm, play it safe, and he'd be home free. That had nothing on him. Just suspicions. And in court that wouldn't get them anywhere.
Jackie sat on the bench in the Malfoy's dungeon. He was under surveillance. They probably wanted to see if he fit the profile of a heartless killer. Which he did. But they didn't need to know that. He'd been offered one of Draco's children's rooms since they were currently at Hogwarts but Jackie promptly turned them down, preferring the cool, damp solitude of the dungeons instead. He said it was because he didn't want to get in anyone's way nor did he want to feel as though he was trespassing. And anyway, it was nice and quiet down here. Perfect for planning his next move.
Yawning loudly, Jackie turned around and lay down on the bench instead, staring blankly at the ceiling. A book lay across his chest now. He had been reading it for the good part of the past hour but had abandoned it a short while ago. He had been reading II Gattopardo by Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa. The spine of the book was worn from the countless times Jackie had opened to read it. This was boring. So very boring. Hopefully he'd make it out of this boredom with his sanity intact.

Draco didn't know what had gotten into him. He had opened his home to a supposed murderer. he had to keep a close eye on him. As to why he, out of the entire Ministry, was chosen to watch him. He wasn't exactly sure. It wasn't like he was an auror. Draco supposed it had to do with his past.
Either way, he was now living in his dungeon, and Draco thought the dude could use something to eat. He had his wand safely tucked into his belt as he made his way down to the dungeon to give him the food the house elves had made for him. It was simple. A hamburger, fries, and a few cookies. Draco hoped the dude would be grateful for it, he wasn't in a mood to deal with otherwise.
He knocked on the door to announce his arrival, then just walked in. It was his house, after all. "I thought you might be hungry or something." Draco told him as he set the tray of food on a table and turned to look at him. He looked bored. Good. The idiot deserves it.

Jackie stirred immediately on hearing a knock on what he guessed was his cell. Caged like some prisoner. Some animal. Some pet. He needed to get out of here fast. True, he might of chosen to stay in the dungeons but he hadn't expected it to be... so "dungeon-like". Jackie caught Il Gattopardo before it felt to the floor and folded the corner of the page he was on. "Evening, Malfoy." Jackie smiled, the pleased expression wavering when the smell of hamburger wafted up his nose. He almost cringed. The man had brought him a hamburger? Jackie wasn't going to eat that. Not if he wanted to gag and empty his stomach on the stone floor. "Grazie for bringing me some food... I was beginning to wonder if you'd forgotten about me."
Jackie gave a light chuckle and leaned back against the wall. The infamous Draco Malfoy bringing him food in a dungeon. This had been one of the last things he expected to happen when he began his visit to England. He looked up at the older man with inspecting hazel eyes. The man didn't seem all that impressed. "So... do you think I did it? That I... well... that I was who brought on Miss. Lovegood's demise?"

Draco didn't exceedingly want to talk to his uninvited guest, but it seemed like he was truly bored. No on in their right mind would want to talk to Draco for any length of time, yet here he was, trying to strike up a conversation it seemed. Whatever, Draco would be semi nice and go with it. "I don't think I can forget about the man in my dungeon trying to live. No one has been down here since my father let The Dark Lord use this to keep prisoners." Draco told him with a small sadistic smile. He doesn't look at things like that any more, but Jackie didn't know that.
"I honestly don't care if you did or didn't. I've killed people before. I was force, however. Either way, I'm watching you like I'm a fucking babysitter. Doesn't mean anything whether or not you killed her. Well, unless you did. Then you'd be sent to Azkaban." Draco laughed. That was true. He would be sent there if they knew for sure. He wasn't exactly sure why he wasn't just sent there in the first place. He supposed it was a favor of that stupid Jackson. "I suppose you can thank whoever ratted you out that you're not there. Apparently he didn't want you to go insane." Draco rolled his eyes. Stupid considerate Jackson.

The Dark Lord used to use this place to hold prisoners? Jackie felt right at home now. Not. He wanted to just get back to his hotel suite with his big bed, some classical music and a decent bottle of wine. First... he didn't even know what he could do first. Just wait this "supervision" thing out or something? Jackie looked about the gloomy room with a degree of disdain in his eyes.
"Well, its certainly not the nicest place I've stayed the night." Jackie was used to much finer installations. He slept in a car once just for the hell of it. And never again would he do that. Sharing the back seats with another person was just uncomfortable.
"I wouldn't say Jackson ratted me out..." Jackie said with a heavy shrug of his shoulders. "I don't even know what's gotten into the man to suspect me of such atrocities. I, as yourself, am a man of money. I needn't taint my hands with death. I could have anything I wish for. Murdering an innocent lady wouldn't bring me much joy." And it hadn't. It had been an empty killing, straight to the point without much playing. "Although I would wish to have a stern word with the man. He cannot go accusing people of murder because of a "hunch". Just as well I am a calm man, otherwise I would be deeply irked by this." More than he was already. Maybe he'd propose a small visit to Jackson's residence to Aiden. Disguised, of course. Maybe they could pose as burglars, break into the house and just have some old fun.

Draco didn't really care if it was the nicest place Jackie had stayed or not. "The upstairs is better. But you wanted the dungeon." Draco pointed out with a cold voice. The idiot didn't have to stay down here like a prisoner, but it seemed like that was what he wanted to.
Draco was kind of surprised that Jackie knew who ratted him out about Maryn. "You know it was Jackson, then?" Draco asked the man, ignoring all the other nonsense that followed. It wasn't Draco's job to figure out if the man was innocent or guilty. It was his job to keep him semi alive long enough so the Ministry could figure that out. The guy seemed smart. If he did actually kill her, Draco didn't think there would be much proof it was him.
"Anyways. If you want or need anything. Just page me or something. You can come out of the dungeon as well. We have a big library. The house elves can make you food whenever you're hungry." Draco explained to the man. He looked a bit bored down here, actually. Draco couldn't blame him. "Most of the time I'm in my study. Should you need or want me. Draco told the man, although most of him hoped the man never wanted or needed him.

Even though he brushed off as a bit of an asshole, Jackie still found it pleasing that Malfoy had given him the freedom to wander the upper floors in his house. Even if he was just being courteous, Jackie appreciated it nonetheless. He sat up a bit straighter and ran his finger along the spine of his book carefully.
"I think I may take you up on that offer and have a wander of the library, if you don't mind." Jackie said with the hint of a smile. "I have read this book countless times. It is a classic for me but... even the classics become stale." The young man looked up an the older with unreadable hazel eyes. He was hoping slightly that the man would offer to escort him to the library because this place was huge. Jackie would get lost with ease and he doubted Malfoy would appreciate a suspected murderer wandering about aimlessly on his property. Correction: an actual murderer. Just that no one really knew it.
"I am not..." Jackie eyed the hamburger and masked his disgust expertly. "... particularly hungry right now. Forgive me." He wasn't even going to touch that meat slapped between buns. Even the smell was making him nauseous so, yes, Jackie would definitely appreciate a walk right now to stretch his legs and clear his nose of the greasy smell of burger meat.

Draco thought there was something strange about this man, but decided not to care too much and looked past it. Draco was good at that. Not caring. "Sure of course. I can show you there if you like. I can show you the rest of the house too. So you don't get lost or anything. If you do, just call for a house elf." Draco told him before slowly walking back toward the door. But he stopped when he heard the bit about the food.
"You haven't eaten in how long...? I can get you something else if you don't like that. It doesn't matter to me." Draco told him before saying "Elvie!" As soon as he said it an elf appeared. "Take the food away, and make sure whenever Jackie wants food, he gets it and he gets what he wants." Draco nodded as the elf bowed and disappeared with the plate of food. "There, she'll make sure you get food." Draco said before letting a small smile play on his lips. "Ready to go find the library?"
OOC: We'll just keep this thread. Don't worry about making new ones. Not that big of a deal.
