Mack had slept like a baby last night for the first time in a long while. He had an amazing dream. It was one of the ones that he couldn't remember what happened, but he knew it was amazing. He had a strange feeling that Elizabeth was involved in it. He was trying not to think of that, because it was completely wrong of him to dream of a girl that wasn't his girlfriend.
Mack had thought about what Elizabeth said a lot last night. He still couldn't come up with a reason as to why he was dating Dria. She made him happy, he supposed... Somewhat. But yet it was nothing like Elizabeth made him feel last night.
He tried not to think about that as he walked down to the Pitch. He had given another sixth year claw a note for her, telling her to meet them at the pitch at eleven. As they were walking down, Mack looked over at Phee. "You're going to love her, Pheonix! She's actually extremely cool. Even though she doesn't look like she would be."
Mack had his broom out his shoulder as they walked through the gates and into the pitch. He loved it here. It was his home. In so many ways.

Phoenix wasn't sure why Mack had invited some other girl along to the pitch instead of his own girlfriend. But he wasn't about to ask just yet. Maybe the two had had a falling out of sorts. Yeah, that was probably it. Dria was a Slytherin after all, they weren't exactly easy to get along with. Phoenix shrugged the thought off - he'd think about it later. "She must be cool if you're inviting her down to the pitch." Phoenix shrugged, broom slung over his back. "You met her like, what, last night?"
The young claw gave a light chuckle and nudged his friend on his upper arm. He'd thought about inviting Rayne down to the pitch as well, but had thought against it. Phoenix had wanted some time with his best friend but it turned out it wasn't just going to be them alone. This new girl Mack had been gushing about was coming. Phoenix didn't mind. He was actually rather curious as to who had caught his friend's attention so much.
"I'm thinking of signing up for the Chaser position..." Phoenix mused out loud when they entered the pitch. He'd been giving it quite a bit of thought lately. That way he'd be able to share even more time with Mack. Not that they didn't already.

Elizabeth woke up in the morning feeling the best that she has felt in a long time. She didn't remember exactly what her dream was about, but she knew it was about her and Mack. She also knew that it was a very, very good dream. Leaving the sanctuary of her bed was hard for her to do, but the prospect of seeing Mack later on made it that much easier. She went through the normal routine of getting up, taking a shower, getting dressed, and going down to the Great Hall for breakfast before ten.
The toast seemed extra delicious that morning, and Elizabeth was in the middle of buttering a third slice when a sixth-year Ravenclaw come up to her with a letter. He handed her the latter and ran off without saying a word. She called after him, "Thanks!" In Elizabeth's haste to read the letter, the butter knife that she was using for her toast was used to open it. The letter informed her that Mack and his friend, Phoenix, were going to be down at the Quidditch pitch at eleven. She slowly finished her third slice of toast, and then she made her way back up to her dorm to get dressed in more appropriate clothing.
Elizabeth just threw on some jeans and her Mumford and Sons sweatshirt before putting her hair up in a ponytail before making her way to the pitch. On her way down, she saw two heads, one light-haired and one dark-haired, and knew that they were Mack and Phoenix. She rushed the rest of the way and was out of breath when she got there. "Hey, guys! Ready for some Quidditch and to see me humiliate myself?"

"Well. Technically I talked to her for the first time last night. But she's in our year, dude. It's not like she was a stranger. We knew of each other. Saw each other around." Mack shrugged. He didn't know why he was explaining himself to Phoenix, but he was.
Mack smiled brilliantly over at his best friend. "You should! It'd be awesome if you joined the team, man!" Mack said, his smile growing only to see the familiar brown haired girl walking over to them. Without thinking, Mack rushed over and gave her a quick hug. "You came!" He said, smiling down at her. "You won't humiliate yourself. Not with me as a teacher." He winked at her before mounting his broom and soaring into the air. He flipped the small amount of hair he had in his face away as the air did the rest.
"I can go grab the balls from the storage room in a bit. We can just fly for now." Mack told them. One plus of being captain was being able to get the balls whenever he wanted to. "Have you ever flown before, Lizzy?"

Phoenix whipped around on hearing a girl's voice. He greeted the claw with a smile and a small wave of his hand, not a friendly hug like Mack. He'd seen Elizabeth in class a few times. If Phoenix had to tell the truth, she was probably one of the few girls he tended to focus on more than others. Brown hair, blue eyes - Phoenix was crazy over those traits in girls. That's why Rayne was so beautiful to him. "I'm guessing you're Elizabeth. The girl Mack won't seem to stop talking about." Phoenix smiled toothily, pulling his broom from his back. "Oh, did I say that out loud? Sorry..." And with that he whipped out his broom and took to the air. Hopefully he wouldn't end up as the third wheel in this trio. It'd happened before so it wasn't like it'd be something new. But it was always awkward and uncomfortable.
It felt damn good to fly again. It had been around a week or so that Phoenix had last gotten his broom out. Much too long in his books. He smiled giddy into the first, harsh gust of wind that buffeted his robes and hair when he sped up, relishing in the familiar feeling of his stomach almost falling out. "Mack's a good teacher, he pretty much taught me how to fly." Phoenix grinned. "So don't worry if you don't know how - he's great."

Elizabeth looked at the brooms nervously. "Umm, I haven't really ridden a broom since first year when we had to take flying lessons. In case you haven't noticed, I have grown and changed since then. And, I wasn't that good of a flier anyway. I just have a feeling that I am going to end up smashing my face on the ground. Then I am going to stand up, with blood dripping from every single one of my orifices. Then you guys are going to stand there laughing at the poor, pathetic witch who cannot ride a broom stick. Mack, no amount of awesomeness that you have in teaching people to fly is going to save my face from the ground. Just a forewarning." Elizabeth laughed nervously, avoiding both of their eyes.
Elizabeth looked at Mack, then looked back at Phoenix and laughed. "I doubt that Mack can't stop talking about me. I'm just the weird girl that cried and laughed at the same time on his shoulder and asked inappropriate questions." With feet still firmly on the ground, Elizabeth looked up at Phoenix on his broom and yelled, "I still don't have a good feeling about this." She grumbled, "And, I don't think Mack is that great. He is just the most awesome person I have met in awhile."

Mack shook his head and glared at his best friend. "Thanks Phee. You dick." Mack mumbled, but couldn't even keep the glare. He just ended up smiling and laughing. Something was seriously different if Mackenzie did that. Normally he would have yelled at Phee more than that. But Elizabeth was here, and she needed Mack's attention.
"Don't worry. Flying is like riding a bike. You can't forget." Mack told her with a huge smile. He soared father into the air before doing a simple flip, showing off a bit for Elizabeth even if he didn't know why he was showing off for her. He shouldn't be, yet he was.
He looked down while he was flying, they were talking about something... good. Mack wanted the two two get along. He had a feeling Elizabeth and him would be hanging out more and more. After it looked like she stopped talking, Mack flew down right next to her. "Hop on. You can fly with me for a while. Don't worry, you'll be completely safe." Mack smiled brilliantly at her.

Phoenix wasn't sure if Elizabeth was joking about the whole "falling to earth, bloody orifices" rant or not. She did seem rather serious. Nyxie gave a weak chuckle in response and looked in Mackenzie's direction for help. "I really don't think either of us will laugh..." Phoenix honestly didn't have it in him to be able to laugh at the broken, mangled body of a girl. Why was that? Because he had a heart.
Phoenix was curious to see if Elizabeth would accept Mack's invitation to share a ride on his broomstick with him. It was actually very suspicious how friend he was being to her. Nyxie had never been one to accept his friend's relationship with Dria, finding her cold and very Slytherin-like. But still... wasn't he with her? What would she have to say about this? If it were him and Rayne in this situation... Phoenix highly doubted his girlfriend would take it nicely.
"Go on, Lizzy, hop on. You'll see how fun it is." Phoenix smiled, making an attempt to push those thoughts, doubts and suspicions to the back of his head. Besides, if they were true, it'd just mean that he was, in fact, the third wheel. Like he had suspected before. And he didn't want that.

Elizabeth was still nervous about being on a broom for the first time since first year. And, she tended to make jokes and inappropriate comments when she was nervous. She could tell that she kind of freaked Phoenix out with the whole falling off the broom thing, but she was too scared to actually give a damn what came out of her mouth. "Not that I think that you and Mack aren't nice. Of course you're nice. You two are the nicest people that have ever talked to me. It's just that most of the time when I'm nervous, or in general really, I start rambling and I can't really control what the hell comes out of my mouth. Just a forewarning. And, now I fully expect you to pick my broken, mangled body off of the ground when I fall," she rambled and then gave a little laugh before looking at her shoes.
Elizabeth really wasn't scared about having the two Ravenclaw boys teach her how to fly. She actually trusted them, which was surprising. Especially since she just started talking to both of them. It was her brain that was getting in the way. Her logical mind was telling her that there was no way that a small branch could keep her afloat without her falling to the side and eventually falling off of the broom. It just defied physics, and she spent her childhood learning about things like physics. However, she knew that she just had to get over it.
Elizabeth took a deep breath to try and calm herself before she put on a strong face and said, "Well, it's just illogical to have a witch that can't fly. So, fuck it. I'll get on." She walked over to where Mack was hovering close to the ground. "Okay. Mack, if you let me fall, I swear to Merlin that I will haunt you till your dying day," she told him seriously. Another deep breath was taken as she threw her leg over the broom. She then wrapped her arms around Mack's waist, closed her eyes, and buried her head into his back.

Mack smiled brightly at Elizabeth, who was standing close to him. "You're rambling again. There really isn't a need to be nervous." Mack told her honestly. He kind of felt bad because Phoenix seemed like he was kind of on his own over here. Not that this was a date or anything. That would be a bad idea if it was a date. Absolutely. Not at all.
"I won't let you fall." Mack told her with a smile as she hopped on the back of his broom and held him close. Mack faintly remembered the conversation he had with Stephen the night before. About how he should do what his heart wanted to instead of what he felt like he had to. Without thinking, he took on of his hands away from the broom handle and grabbed onto hers that were holding on to him. Quickly lacing his fingers through hers opposite of what you would normally do.
"I won't let you fall." Mack repeated gentler before soaring upward and into the air, not letting go of Elizabeth's hand. He wanted to make sure she knew she was completely safe with him. It didn't really occur to him that Phoenix would see this.

Rayne got bored a lot. She had caught up on her homework, she had hung out with her friends. She really just kind of wanted to be with Phoenix. So naturally, she took off and started searching for him. She had a friend go in the common room and look for him, but they said he wasn't in there. She tried the library, the kitchens, everywhere she could think. No luck.
She was about to give up when she started going down the the lake. She stopped when she saw two brooms in the air at the quidditch pitch. Why hadn't she thought of there...
Practically running, she went in the quidditch pitch with a smile on her face. She saw it was Phoenix, there were two other people, on one broom, but Rayne didn't know either of them. "Nyxie!" Rayne yelled from down where she was, hoping he would hear her.

Okay, now Phoenix really did feel like the third wheel to all this. Lizzy and Mack were getting all... friendly on a broom together. It didn't look right considering his friend kinda had a girlfriend. Mack knew what he was doing, right? He was old enough to know what was good and what was going too far. Phoenix would just have to trust him.
But it was still no excuse to pretty much ignore his best friend. Phoenix flew sulky circles around the pitch. Why had he even been invited? They obviously didn't need him. The young claw began to wonder what excuse would be a good one to get him back to the dorm. He did kinda have homework now that he thought about it. And getting some more studying in for final exams wasn't exactly a bad idea.
Or his excuse would just come running up to the pitch? Phoenix was definitely lucky today. Out of the corner of his eye he saw a young girl come dashing up to the Quidditch pitch and, on hearing his name, he recognize her immediately. Rayne. His saviour from boredom.
"Rayski!" Phoenix called, swooping down to see her and jumping off his broom when he was a couple of feet from the ground. He landed easily with a bend of his knees and wrapped his arm around his girlfriend, giving her a quick kiss. "Thank Merlin you're here... these two... just look at them... I think I can tell when I'm not needed, heh. So... what you up to? Fancy a fly?"

With her head still buried into Mack's back, Elizabeth whimpered, "Okay. Okay. I trust you." She took a deep breath, and with a little support from Mack when he grabbed her hand, she slowly inched her head away from his back. Finally, her head was far enough away that she opened her eyes and took in the view from the air. She could see the Black Lake, the Astronomy tower, the Forbidden Forest, and random birds flying in the air. It was probably the best view of Hogwarts that she ever had.
"Wow. Okay. I can do this," Elizabeth said a little more confidently. She looked around the Quidditch Pitch and noticed that Phoenix was with some dark-haired girl. "Hey, Mack," she started, "Do you think that we kind of excluded Phoenix? Because it looks like he kind of found himself a cute, little girl to spend his time with now."

Mack was grinning like mad. He was loving almost every second of this. Elizabeth pressed against his bad, holding his hand, holding onto him. She had said she trusted him, and that was all Mack needed to hear. He picked up the speed a bit on the broom. Mack could ride one of these things in his sleep. He wasn't going to test that, though.
When Elizabeth mentioned Phoenix, his eyes shot around where they spotted him on the ground with his arms around a girl. When he kissed her, Mack guessed that was the famous Rayne he had heard so much about. If he wasn't enjoying himself in the sky with Elizabeth, he would have gone and teased her a bit. "He'll be fine... that's his girlfriend. She probably came 'round looking for him or something. No worries." Mack told her with a glance back at her and a smile.

Rayne smiled widely when she heard Phoenix shout her nickname before getting off his broom and flying down toward her. With one movement his arms were around her and his lips on hers in a quick kiss. He was just too adorable for his own good. She wrapped her arms around him and smiled up. "I was just bored... and so I've been trying to find you." She explained before looking over to the other broom.
"Is that Mack? Then I'm guessing that's his girlfriend?" She asked him, trying to make sure she knew who they were. Just as she looked up, she saw Mack turn around and look at her with a smile. That look... that was the look any guy would give a girl he liked. It was adorable. "Sure. I could fly. I don't have anything to do, and seeing as I wanted you... and you're flying... flying works." Rayne chuckled before leaning up to kiss Phoenix again softly. "You can show me your skills." She laughed. Rayne loved flying. It was one of the best feelings in the world.
