." Brent snapped at Chase. He definitely wasn't going to be nice in this situation. That guy was a maniac for fuck's sake! A maniac that delved way too deep into his personal life for someone he'd literally just met... Or just way too deep into his personal life- full stop. Chase was too nice. Of course he wouldn't approve of Brent getting shitty with the new guy but he couldn't bring himself to care right now. Brent jumped down from Chase's back, not wanting to accidentally strangle him or something. He knew it was a possibility when he was this pissed. Instead he stood next to Chase, arms folded over his chest and attempting to hold back the strange desire he had to laugh; because, really, Brent didn't really think he was that much of a sadist. He took a deep breath but didn't make any attempt to go and comfort Vlad, there was no way that he was going to. But, still, Brent wasn't so cruel that he was going to laugh. Well, that and he was mildly freaked out by the guy. "Dude... just... chill..." Brent strained to say, the words sounding awkward and forced. At least Chase didn't have to whine at him for being a bully now. Hopefully.[/ul]

Great... now it seemed like Brent was mad at Chase for what he said. All he wanted to do was make the dude feel welcome, and then after spend some quality time with his boyfriend before he had to go teach classes for the day. Was that so hard to ask? Did life really hate him that much? Guess so.
When Vlad fell to the ground crying, Chase didn't know if he could handle that. He didn't like seeing people cry. After all the times that he had seen his mother cry in front of him when his father was drunk and started abusing them. It added up after a while and caused Chase to hate it. He always wanted people to be happy. Not crying. He didn't care what Brent thought of him or how creepy he was.
Chase stepped away from Brent and knelt on the ground next to Vlad. He put his hand on Vlad's shoulder. "Hey... don't get worked up about what Brent said. It's... brent. He can say stuff without thinking sometimes. You're not a freak... you just.. have something special?" Chase didn't know what word would be the best to use. So he thought that maybe that one would be the best.
He gave Brent a pointed look. almost half glaring. He knew Brent was a good person on the inside, but sometimes it didn't choose to come out. Chase was used to it. But Brent made someone cry and freak out. He should apologize.

Vlad was shaking. He was truly afraid of what he becomes when he spaces out. He was more afraid of what people would do to him afterwards. It wasn't something he could control. He was that weak.
Despite Chase's attempts to comfort him, Brent's words were still ringing in his head. He was sure Brent was right. he was a weirdo. He always knew he was different. But no one had ever told him he was what he was the way Brent did. It was more painful than he remembered.
He wanted to scream and run away, never to show his face to anyone but he did have the courage or strength to do so. He was truly lame. Vlad was still sobbing, he couldn't control his emotions when it was thrown at him that way.

year old! Brent ignored Chase's 'Apologise. Now.' look, there was no way he was going to say sorry when he didn't believe he was even in the wrong. It would've been hard enough if he did believe that anyway. Instead, Brent stubbornly glalred at Chase and Vlad and didn't make any attempt at an apology.[/ul]

Neither of them had said a single word... what Brent had said really hurt Vlad... This couldn't be good. Why couldn't Brent be nice to someone other than him. Even then sometimes he wasn't nice to him. But he was sure nicer to Chase than anyone else. Chase didn't mind as he knew most of the things Brent said to him were jokes. But Brent being mean to a new professor they just met... not cool.
"Brent..." Chase said, giving him the look again. He knew Brent understood what the look meant, but chose not to do anything about it. It was making Chase mad. There was a man crying because of what Brent said. The least he could do was fake an apology.
Turning back to Vlad, Chase rubbed his shoulder where his hand was. "Come on... cheer up. I don't think you're weird. You just have an ability. You're like... a psychic that just knows personal history instead..." Chase didn't really think that definition fit very well. Chase actually thought he was really weird. But he wasn't going to make the dude feel any worse...

Vlad wanted to believe what Chase was saying but he knew himself better than Chase. And he knew Chase was just saying those things to make him feel a little better. Lies never made Vlad feel any good about himself and what he was capable of doing.
After crying so much, Vlad just fell into space. He didn't know if he fell asleep or lost consciousness. All he knew was he couldn't see anything. Everything went pitch black. He sat up and tried rubbing his eyes together but everything was still dark. He began to shiver again. What was happening now?
"Chase? Are you still here? I- I can't see anything..." he said with trembling voice. He stretched out his arms, hoping to grab Chase if he was still around. He was scared now. This never happened to him before. And he wondered if he was going to be blind for the rest of his left.

'. Brent wanted nothing more than to just curse the new professor and get the hell out of there. Fortunately for Vlad, Brent had just enough self control to stop himself; after all, he couldn't afford to lose his job right now. Before he ended up doing anything stupid, Brent stormed out of the staff room without a backwards glance, too angry to care about what Chase or Vlad would think of him.[/ul]

Chase didn't know what was happening or what the fuck he should do. He had never been in this kind of situation before and therefore didn't know what the fuck to do. He watched as Brent finally reached his limit and walked out the door. He had to run after him, but he knew he couldn't just leave Vlad here on the ground to freak out while he was supposedly going blind. Chase thought that it might just have something to do with him freaking out.
"Yeah... I'm right here. Don't worry." Chase said as he reached his hand out to grab onto Vlad's outstretched arms. "I'm going to call my friend... okay? He's a healer. Don't worry." Chase was trying to keep his voice calm, but he didn't know if he was doing a good job of it. Chase took his wand out of his pocket with the hand that wasn't holding onto Vlad's arms and casted a patronus. Thinking of the first time him and Brent had ever met on the train in his first year. It was the happiest memory in his life. He watched the Phoenix erupt from his wand. "Go to Alex and tell him to come to Hogwarts as soon as possible. In the staff room." He told his Phoenix and then with a flick of his wand sent it away.

Breaktime. Half an hour to grab a coffee, maybe a quick sandwich and just put feet up for a few minutes. Alexander had apparated back to his small apartment, sighing content as he sank into his sofa with a steaming cuppa cradled in his hands. Bread in the toaster and his feet up on the coffee table, he was making the most he could possibly make from his break. The Spaniard closed his eyes, breathing in the soothing aroma of coffee.
Chocolate eyes snapped open on feeling a presence in his living room and hearing.... Chase's voice? That handsome voice was unmistakeable. His heart skipped a moment but suddenly picked up in tempo on spying a patronus in front of him. Chase needed him... and it sounded urgent.
Alex went to return the message with his own patronus and whipped out his ebony wand from his front pocket. But no patronus materialized. Just a silvery whispy cloud - it would serve to say that he was on his way. Alexander picked up his work briefcase with one hand and his broom with another. He twisted his body slightly and with a crack, he was gone. His toast popped up. Forgotten. Going cold like his coffee.

Vlad clung on to Chase's arm or hand. He was too frightened to care. He was worried why he couldn't see. It never happened to him before. "W-why can't I s-see? Did s-someone turned o-off the l-lights? I d-don't like the dark, CH-chase..." Vlad was stuttering. He usually stutters when his very scared.
He wanted to scream. He wanted to yell at Brent for calling him a freak. He wasn't a freak! He was gifted with a very rare and valuable gift that Brent hate because he didn't have it. Yes, that might be it. Vlad convinced himself.
"Brent will be in a very unfortunate situation soon enough. But before that, you have to regain those eyes of yours before we get back at that closet woman." his mind told him. Yes, Vlad had to get his sight back before doing anything.

Chase was glad when he saw Alex's patronus saying he was on his way. He needed someone here with him while Vlad was freaking out. Brent obviously wasn't coming back. That was another thing. Chase needed to go after Brent. But he would feel too bad if he just left Vlad here sitting on the floor crying. Chase wasn't that kind of person.
"No... the lights aren't off. Someone is coming to help, okay? A healer. Just relax a bit. He'll be here soon, and he'll figure out why you can't see. I won't leave, I'm right here." Chase was trying to get him to calm down, but there was only so much he could say to Vlad while Brent was on his mind. Chase hoped he wasn't going to be pissed... but it was Brent. The odds weren't in Chase's favor.
Where was Alex.../

Alexander apparated just outside the main entrance to Hogwarts' grounds. As soon as his feet touched earth he swung a leg over his Nimbus broomstick and away he tore across the lush grounds that surrounded the castle. He got a few concerned and startled stares while he dodged the odd wandering student. Seeing a healer on the grounds whizzing towards the castle on a broom wasn't a common sight.
Alex hopped off in one fluid motion on arrivng at the large, oak doors and quickly slipped inside. He set off in a brisk pace towards the staff room, his deep green cloak billowing behind him as he ignored curious students that pointed at the crossed bone and wand logo emblazoned on the back of it. Yes, he was a healer, not a teacher, get over it . The young man heard noise coming from inside the staff room and entered. He narrowed his eyes, spotting Chase by the floor, looking like he was consoling some other professor. The man was staring about wildly, yet his gaze was unfocused - a curse gone wrong, perhaps? Alex swooped over to his side at a knee and pointed his wand at his face whilst he held his chin, using it as a torch on his pupils.
"What's happened here, Chase?" He mumbled, furrowing his brow while he got out his work briefcase and snapped it open. In it he had an array of small vials. But don't let their size fool, each and every one had an Undetectable Extension charm cast on them so they housed a decent amount of potion. Alex conjured up himself a small cup and, after some rattling of glass bottles, found the one he was looking for - Calming Draught. He poured out two fingers and placed into the professor's hand, keeping his there too to help guide him.
"Its okay, I'm here to help." Alexander said softly, his accent light yet noticable. "Drink this, it'll help you calm down. And tell me, slowly, what's wrong. I should be able to help..."

Vlad didn't know who the new voice belonged to. But it said that it was a healer. So he didn't care. He tried to calm himself down. It wasn't doing him any good at the moment.
"I don't know. I probably spaced out for a few minutes... Then I snapped back... Then McKinney called me a f--" Vlad stopped. He didn't want to say it again. "Then I fell down, shaking. A few more minutes later, everything turned black." he told the unknown person.
Vlad was shared shit for himself. He needed his eyes to work! If he lost it, he might have to leave Hogwarts. He couldn't leave. Not yet that is.
"Besides, we still have to get back at that McKinney for calling us a freak. He deserves to be punished." his mind inserted. That was the least of Vlad's concern as of the moment. He wanted his sight back.

Chase was glad when Alex finally showed up. He knew it hadn't been long since he got the patronus, but it felt like forever. "Alex!" Chase screamed out in desperation when he finally came through the staff room door. He had no idea what he was doing. Give him a sick animal.. sure. He could deal with that. This... he couldn't.
He let Vlad answer what was wrong... Since it was him. Chase just kind of watched in awe at what Alex was doing. He gave him a potion... What he assumed was a calming drought. He just hoped it would work. "Brent called him a fucking weirdo..." Chase answered for Vlad. "Vlad kind of spaced out and told me and Brent our like... entire life story with each... and well. you know how Brent is. He ended up storming off..." Chase looked Alex in the eye. Showing him how hurt he was because of this and how much he wanted to run after him, but Chase felt like this was partly his fault, and he didn't want to leave Vlad.

Alexander's expression darkened on hearing Brent's reaction to all this. He made a small scoff noise and mumbled a Spanish profanity under his breath. Alex turned his attention back to Vlad, still tilting the cup of Calming Draught by his lips. He needed to drink every drop of it were to have any noticable effect. "Does Brent have any idea how important sudden blindness is? And just how dangerous it can be?" Alex hissed. He knew, of course, being a Healer. Yet he didn't go inti detail, not wanting to scare the already shaken professor. "Do us a favor, Chase. When you next see Brent, tell him that Alex saidf to grow up some.... Vlad, I'm going to see if there's any physical damage that might've caused this. You may feel a tickle...don't be alarmed." Alex sat in a kneel behind Vlad, laying him down gently and placing his head on his lap. Alex rolled up the sleeves to his robe and placed the tip of his wand on Vlad's temple and his free hand on the opposite one. "I mean, really Chase. This guy is obviously new. He's probably nervous like everyone is on their first day. Some people just act differently because of them. Brent should be patient and welcoming. Not a childish arse. I was on my break for Merlin's sake! And if this was caused by him....he owes me a drink." Alex's eyebrows creased in anger and he glanced sidewards at Chase. "Actually, make that two. One for each eye. Now Vlad, I'm going to start. Don't worry." His voice instantly softened when he spoke to the other professor. He wanted him to at least be able to hear that Alex held no negative emotion towards him. The Spaniard let his magic seep into Vlad's skull. He checked his eyes first for injuries such as retinal detachment, then the arteries, then the optic nerve for inflammation or something similar. Then he went back into his brain to search for any possible lesions. There was the possibility of the sudden blindness being caused by something psycological...but Alex's magic didn't stretch that far. If the trigger had been Brent's unfriendly demeanor hysteria was maybe a cause. But Alex couldn't be sure. Finished, he gave Vlad's temples a soothing rub. "Now, Vlad, finish that potion and calm down....deep breaths. Okay?"
