Harry was sitting on his bed and watched Draco roam his room. "True... Things may not have turned out the way they did. But then again, I wouldn't change anything. But there is one thing I want to change now..." Harry said and stared into Draco's eyes. They were the same grey eyes he once stared at back at Hogwarts.
Harry then smirked, "I always liked green. The hat did say that I was always meant to have been a Slytherin. Green brings out my eyes, don't you think?" Harry asked him. "Malfoy, you will be mine, one way or the other... Besides, I would love to know how you've changed over the years... Like I woould enjoy showing you how I have changed..." Harry thought to himself.
"Besides that, my children enjoy my stories of old... From the day a met the most gorgeous boy in Madam Malkin's Clothing Store to my last year of school with the same boy who I still thought was gorgeous..." he told the Malfoy heir.

Draco quickly averted the conversation from where he could tell it was going to head, and being the Slytherin that he was he did so as tactfully as possible. "While I am a most delightful specimen my children wouldn't quite enjoy stories of my childhood as yours probably would," Draco coughed and looked down a little in shame momentarily as he realized that his children were appalled when they asked him and received details about his past. With a large amount of bitterness Draco added, "I wasn't exactly the savior of the Wizarding World now was I?" [OOC: Hopefully that wasn't too bad! Tell me if I got anything wrong that would've applied in the past...]

Harry swallowed hard. He hated being called "The Saviour". He hated the name "Boy Who Lived" more. He stood up and turned around, his back on Draco. "I think dinner is ready. Time for the meal." Harry simply said, trying to hide his disappointment and anger from being reminded of what his role during the war was.
Harry opened the door for Malfoy to step out into the hallway once again, "Can we not mention anything about being a bloody saviour and the lot. It'll definitely just ruin the entire night." Harry said as he looked directly at Draco's eyes.
"I just wanted you to know how I feel discreetly yet you throw at me the "I'm not the Saviour of the Wizarding World, am I" card. Tsk. This night might head on to disaster if he keeps his walls up." Harry thought as he went down the stairs and to the dinning room. "Have a seat, Draco and make yourself at home. I'll prepare dinner in a second." Harry spoke again. With a snap of a finger, the table was set and the meal was ready.

Draco felt uncomfortable. And he hated it. Because Draco Malfoy did not get uncomfortable. But he was uncomfortable anyway whether he liked it or not.
Although a large spiteful part of Draco wanted to push it a nagging voice that sounded eerily like his mother reminded him that he was above all a gentleman. Even Potter deserved at least that.
The uncomfortable feeling returned as Harry started with the first name thing.
Damn it Potter, not now!
Draco was careful not to voice his thoughts aloud though, that would be awkward. And Malfoys weren't awkward. Malfoys weren't and were a lot of things really. Draco personally hated the high expectations, that didn't stop him from expecting the same from his own son though. Draco mentally lightly hit himself for being such a hypocrite, typical.
"Err sure Potter."
Draco surveyed the room yet again with interest, looking at the bed with abnormal curiosity Draco shivered.

Harry sighed and the meal appeared before the Malfoy heir. Harry sat opposite Draco and nodded to him as he began to eat. "Help yourself to anything, Mal-Draco." Harry said as he looked down on his prepared meal. The evening was heading to disaster. An epic disaster!
"So, I'm glad you accepted my invitation. Thank you for that. I think it's time for us to forget about the past and just focus in the present and the future." Harry said as he tried to sound happy but his face didn't show what he wanted Draco to see. He was still disappointed.
"Why can't you just admit that you like me just as I like you?! We would both be saving ourselves time and energy in avoiding whatever there is between us." Harry thought to himself and sighed.

Draco just nodded. He was at a loss for possibly the first time in his life.
Forget the past?
Thoughts swirled around Draco's head and enveloped him tightly causing a minor panic attack.
This was not normal.
Draco looked down at his meal for the first time, there was nothing completely out of the ordinary with it. It didn't seem poisoned. (It didn't hurt to be paranoid at times.) And it wasn't particularly aesthetically displeasing but despite this Draco felt a loss of appetite.
Looking up he saw disappointment flash across Harry's face, at that Draco looked down again pushing his food around his plate with his fork. Tentatively Draco picked up a bit with his fork, chewed, and swallowed.
It wasn't bad. Not that he'd tell Potter that.
"Not bad Potter."
Or he could just ignore himself.

Harry simply nodded at the compliment. "I hope you didn't think I was going to poison you. I was being very honest when I said I wanted to forget what we were in the past. We didn't get along well and I hope it's not too late for us to change things." Harry said with honesty.
He just hoped that Draco would try to ruin the evening by being an idiot and stupidly avoid what was really happening between them Harry discreetly sighed, hoping his guest didn't notice.
Harry took a sip of his wine and went back to eating. "What do you think of my new house?" Harry asked, trying to break the ice. It was supposed to be a warm dinner, not a cold, not talking supper.
"Maybe his not ready for any big steps yet..." one of his thoughts piped in. "We weren't going anywhere. And is being honest that hard?" Harry asked back in his mind. "When it's Draco Lucius Malfoy, maybe..."
That thought made Harry ponder whether Draco has really changed after all this years or was he his pretending to have changed but was really the same old Draco he once knew back at Hogwarts.

To Harry's first statement Draco merely nodded, he didn't really trust himself to not say anything that could be taken the wrong way or would sound...idiotic.
Draco could honestly say that Harry's house was impressive. But he lived in Malfoy Manor, and he was damned if he let his pride take a blow that something could be as impressive (perhaps more) than his own home.
"It's...quaint." Quaint was not the word to describe Harry Potter's house, to Draco it was like one giant playhouse plus a lavish five star hotel mixed together.

Harry smiled a little. "Quaint? Just that? He is definitely holding back with the compliments. But then again, it doesn't really matter. What matters is what he thinks of me. Which we will be finding out in a few minutes or so..." Harry thought, trying not to smirk.
"So, how have you been this past few years, Draco? How's being the governor of Hogwarts working for you? Good I hope." Harry spoke, trying to make conversation.
"I'm heard somethings from my children about how you are when your there. They seem accepting about how the castle and school has changed from the one we used to go to." Harry added.
It was a lie really. James, Albus, and Lily don't really talk about school, let alone mention Draco as the Governor. Harry found out thru the trusty "grapevine". It was still good as it was before.

Draco was officially paranoid.
He had no idea what possessed him to even act civil to Harry Potter, (perhaps the Imperius was responsible?) but now the tables were turned and Harry was being...nice?
Draco didn't like it one bit, it was outside of his comfort zone and Draco thrived in his comfort zone.
Then, akin to out of the blue, Draco had an epiphany.
If Harry Potter was going out of his way to get Draco out of his comfort zone then Draco would do the same.
It was a sort of paranoid thing to do but nevertheless Draco was extremely uncomfortable and that led to all sorts of disasters. Like when Scorpius was born, Draco wasn't really used to being relied on, or relying on other people, so when everything was in disarray and Astoria in labor Draco got drunk while his son was emerging into the world.
Disaster.
Anyhow, Draco tried to focus on the present.
"Hmm? Oh yes. Life has been dillydallying, creating up all sorts of nonsense, but I've been able to work through it, I am Draco Malfoy after all."
The arrogant facade wasn't really a facade, Draco was arrogant in all respects and nevertheless the arrogance he possessed was used more as a defense mechanism than anything else. Draco purposely evaded the Governor question, what was he supposed to say anyway?
At Harry's next comment Draco was rendered speechless once more. What exactly was he supposed to say to his former school rival now semi-acquaintance?
"Yes well the changes I do set in place are more than satisfactory and I only have the students' best interests in mind."
Draco was lying through his teeth, in all honesty he couldn't give a damn about the other kids as long as his own children were enjoying Hogwarts, and all its benefits of having a father on the school board.

Harry was trying his bloody best to not snap at how stiff Draco was. Was it really that hard for the man to just relax? No one was going burst into the dinning room, yell at the top of their lungs, and point out that Draco Lucius Malfoy was having a civilized dinner with Harry James Potter.
And Harry knew instantly that Draco's lying skills had not changed at all. At least to him. He's an auror for Merlin's sake. It was his job to know who were lying and who were telling the bloody truth. And Draco was obvioously lying about having the students' best interest in mind. Harry could careless but if he heard that his children were harmed, he was going to hex the blond man straight to St. Mungos.
After a few more minutes, Harry just snapped. "Seriously Draco! Will it kill you to just relax for a an hour or two? I won't kill you! Your thoughts are all over the place and I have been trying my bloody hardest to fight all urges to open my mind to look at yours! If you think I'm doing this for some other heinous reasons, well sorry to disappoint you! I just wanted to put our past behind us and try to actually become friends!"
Harry stopped and tried to catch his breath. He clutched his heart as his other hand was holding on the table. Snapping always caused him severe chest pains that made it hard for him to breath in air. He was trying to gasp for whatever air he could inhale.

All Draco could think was that he had succeeded. He had gotten Harry Potter to blow up, it had been a while since he had angered someone to the point of having a fit at him.
His mother, Astoria, his children, all infuriatingly blasé when he was angry, they were used to his temperamental ways. Fire. That's what Draco liked. Perhaps that was why he loved, no found satisfaction (Malfoys didn't love things, that would cause all sorts of disasters) when ever one of those goody-goody Gryffindors were set ablaze by yet another one of his jabs. It reminded Draco that the world was not sinking into some sort of endless abyss, no matter how ridiculous that sounded.
His family were not fire. They were more like ice, and Draco never liked ice, too cold, too much brain freeze, he didn't care much for ice-creams either.
Draco snapped his attention to Harry once more just as the other man was finishing his outburst, to which Draco merely blinked.
Still got it. Was the gist of Draco's thought process.
"If you're going to get all worked up and start spouting off random rubbish about the greater good and becoming friends to prevent another war save it Potter." After a moment Draco added something else spontaneously, "however, for the benefit of my children I propose a truce, friendship is out of the question, too much history, civility is not beneath me. Well?"
Once again Draco turned a seemingly ridiculous notion into his own warped vision of perfection.

Harry noticed the very thin line of fear within Draco's voice. Why was the man scared of? Was he scared of him? Then a smirk crept into his face. Harry forgot the outburst he just had and looked more determined than ever.
"A truce but no friendship? Why? What are you scared of Draco? Are you scared of me? Of what I might to do you when you least expect it? What I might tell you?" Harry said with a confident and arrogant tone, something he kknew he was but tried not to be.
His smirk was still there and he was going to embrace the Slytherin side of him to have Draco Lucius Malfoy. He lost the man before after turning him now during their first year. Now, things are going to be a little more different. And Harry will make sure of that.

Draco stared. No he did not bloody well like the spontaneity and appearance of Harry Potter's sudden arrogance. That was preposterous.
Occasionally Draco liked to think himself saner than the average person, he was after all, Draco Malfoy, but at that point Draco fancied himself to be insane.
"If you think I'm scared Potter you're wrong. A hundred percent wrong."
Insane. Draco tried recall when the madness started but he drew up a blank, he was in mass denial, no wonder people tried to block their feelings. Draco didn't block his feelings, he simply hid them well, and there was the fact that for most things he simply didn't care.
