Harry smirked wider, Draco was obviously scared of him and what he might do. Was he confused? Or was he trying to deny what he truly is? "Well, one thing is for sure, I won't be wasting whatever little time I have with him." Harry thought to himself.
"My apologies then, if you think that I was being a bit pushy. And if you say I'm wrong then let me tell you this, Draco..." Harry began and emphasized the blond's name.
"In all my years as an Auror and being the Head of the Auror Department of our Ministry, I have never been wrong..." he finished with a confident smirk in his face.
Harry went back to eating his dinner, "Please, let us continue the meal before the food turns cold." Harry added, as he looked up at Draco just before taking the piece of meat from the fork.

Draco stared a little longer before he realized he was staring, when he did he had the decency to look down ashamed. The food was good.
Before long Draco had wolfed down it all, except of course...Malfoys did not wolf down food, he merely ate fast in a proper, appropriate manner.
"I think you'll find that I am exception Potter."
There, thought Draco victoriously. Let him be thrown with that one.

Harry smiled at Draco, he knew how hard Draco was trying so that he could not lose face to his old highschool nemesis. But Harry was done with their old rivalry. He didn't want rivalry anymore. He wanted something else from the Malfoy heir.
"If you say so, Draco. If you say so." Harry's voice showed that he didn't believe that Draco was an exception. He was far from that. Draco proved to be the most readable person Harry had ever met since he became the Head Auror of the wizarding world.
Harry smirked while eating, making sure Draco saw it and sending the signal that whatever Draco tried to say, Harry didn't believe the lies he would say. Harry was just that good.

Draco fumed.
He whipped out his wand, pointed it to Harry in anger before lowering it with a sigh and muttering a Scourgify at his plate.
Thinking quickly Draco got to his feet.
"Obviously Potter, you still continue with your delusional ways, surely you should consult a shrink about that."
Not even bothering to give Harry a chance to reply Draco stormed out, not realizing until he reached the door that he was a Wizard and could Apparate back home, even if cross country apparating did make one feel slightly queasy.

Harry quickly stood up and followed Draco. "Wait... We haven't had dessert yet..." Harry called out. The night wasn't going as he planned. Why was Draco trying his best to counter ever advance Harry did? "Maybe he isn't gay like you thought?" his mind spoke.
Harry tried not to think about the thought and just focused on making Draco stay. "Draco... I'm sorry for annoying you this whole time. Please stay. It would be such a waste to throw away the dessert I made. I promise to be nicer." Harry said as he grabbed hold on the blond's arm.
He wanted to cast a freezing charm on Draco but he was sure it would only anger the blond guest even more. "Please Draco." Harry spoke softer this time.

If Draco didn't know better, he would have assumed that Potter had been practically begging him to stay there. It just didn't sit well with Draco. This entire thing. There was something wrong about it, Draco just didn't know what. Was it normal for a life long enemy to just all of a sudden want to be friends? To invite him over for dinner like they had been friends forever?
"Why exactly did you invite me here, Potter. I want to know the truth" Draco spat at him angrily. "Or I'm apparating out of here without a second thought." His head made a movement toward the door. He would leave. It wasn't as if he cared or anything.
"If you didn't care, then why aren't you already gone." His mind told him. Draco pushed the thought aside, clearly his mind wasn't thinking correctly today.

Harry took a step back. Did Draco really hate him until now that being there was like being under an Imperius Curse? Harry couldn't believe it. The night surely went from bad to worse. And now, Draco was threatening him to tell the truth or he'd leave. What was going on through the blond's mind?
"Have you not been listening to whole time? I invited you here so that we could finally close all doors to whatever rivalry we had when we were younger. I have been telling you this whole time that I wanted us to be friends? Is that really hard for you? Do you really hate me that much?" Harry asked Draco.
He didn't know what else to say. Didn't Draco believe that Harry meant everything he said the whole night? That Harry really did want them to be friends? Harry was truly hurt now. He didn't know what Draco was thinking the whole while Harry was saying the things he did.

Draco watched Potter's movements closely. For some reason what he heard Potter say and what he watched in Potters eye's were different. There was truth to his words though, and that was good enough to have Draco stay. "Fine... I'll believe you, and I'll stay for dessert or whatever." Draco said, trying not to roll his eyes.
"I don't think it's as much of I hate you, as it is I've hated you for so long, Potter." It was the truth. Draco had spent most of his life hating Potter. Making sure that whatever he did was to hurt Potter throughout school, and even though he changed his ways, he couldn't help but still have those feelings in there. Those feelings of hate.
If it meant that much to him, however, then Draco would try to be his friend. "I'm sorry for assuming something. That was wrong of me."

Harry didn't know whether to smile or cry or be angry that he was pushed to the brink, again, by Malfoy. Harry sighed and turned to lead them back to the kitchen without a word. "Why was he so intent on being a shut-in with me?" Harry thought to himself.
He sat back to his seat and with a snap of his fingers, the dessert floated out from the refrigerator and into theirs plates. "It's called Mango float." was all Harry said, showing no emotion as of the moment. He was still thinking about what Draco said before he turned.
``Draco's share
``Harry's share
"May I ask you, Draco... What were you assuming about me?" Harry had to ask. It was bothering him after Draco had said it.

Draco followed Potter and sat down at the table again. Draco was going to try to behave now... he promised. Well. Trying was different than succeeding, wasn't it. It wasn't that Draco had any problems with Potter now. He had grown up and learned that there was more important things in life to worry about than how he could get back at Potter.
"Thank you Po- uhm. Harry." He was trying to behave, and he didn't call everyone by their last names. It was the least Draco could do after freaking out as much as he just did. "I don't know what I was assuming, honestly." Draco was telling the truth. He really didn't know. "I just knew it was weird that you wanted to all of a sudden become friends and I didn't know why. I just thought there was something else to it.

Harry had to give a little smile. Draco finally called him by his name. "I felt that it was finally the right time for us to start over. To think that I told you that Ginny and I had a messy divorce was something I didn't really think I was going to do but I did." he explained slowly as he began to eat his desert.
"You know Draco, if this is totally bothering, what made you come?" Harry asked. He wanted to know what made Draco go through with the dinner. "I mean you could have sent and elf and say that you couldn't make it because you have work or something. But you came." he added.
Harry was being sincere when he said that he was going to befriend Draco and forget about their old school rivalry. They both had already moved on and had probably out grown it by now.

Draco honestly didn't know why Harry had told him about him and Ginny. It was weird to learn something like that when you weren't truly friends with the person. Wouldn't he be better telling Weasley? Well... Draco did think that might be awkward considering he was her sister. Potter hadn't really thought of that one when he married her.
"I honestly don't know why I came, Pot - Harry." Draco caught himself. "I guess maybe a part of me wants to become friends with you as well. To really let what happened in the past be the past and not have to worry about the regrets from my school years on the back of my mind." Draco told him the truth, because he had nothing to hide. He didn't like how he had treated Potter, Granger, and Weasley when they were in school. He had been trying to gain his fathers love through the torture he put them through, and that wasn't right.
"So I came. And here I am. Attempting to call you Harry instead of Potter. But failing miserably." Draco tried to crack a smile, but he couldn't get it on his face right. He wasn't used to smiling. It didn't come natural for him.

Harry chuckled. Draco was indeed failing but it made Harry glad that the blond was trying. "How about we try again. Call me Potter until you feel comfortable about calling me by my first name. We'll start there." he was encouraging Draco simply because Draco was now trying.
"Second, lets not dig up old wounds of the past. We both know they exist. We'll just have to leave them in the past. Is it too late for me to take up that offer of friendship you gave me when we were 11?" Harry asked with a genuine smile. He remembered everything from the moment he met Draco at Madam Malkin's down to their last year where Draco was mostly alone because he wanted it that way.
"I just hope that even if he won't be mine, I want to be his friend still. We both went through difficult trials and came out alive. We have new lives now." Harry thought and kept smiling.

Draco actually smiled at that. It wasn't a big smile or anything, but it was actually a true smile. He was glad Potter was being so cool about all of this. About him not being able to call him Harry. "Thanks Potter... I didn't know how I was going to keep doing that." He said with a slight shake of his head.
"Of course that friendship is still offered. And I'd be honored if you accepted it." Draco knew it was time to move on from everything that happened in the past. All the times he had tried to gain his fathers approval by acting like someone he wasn't. Maybe it was time to truly change his ways. Time to move on in his life and make it something that he wanted. Someone he wanted to be. He could do that... Maybe. He'd try.

Harry was glad that Draco was open to being friends with him. It was a good start for the both of them. And Harry was also glad that Draco was smiling now too.
"See, you look better with a smile on your face." Harry commented as he took another bite of his dessert. the night was now going better than how it was on the middle. And the fact that Draco was still there was proof of it.
"I don't mean to pry... But how is your mother? And your wife of course." Harry was nervous about asking but he just had too. Narcissa did save his life. And he didn't forget it.
